One More Light was a song written by Mike for a friend who died. When Chester sang the song after Chris died, it gave the song a whole lot more meaning for him. Now that Mike is singing this song after Chester died, it gave him a whole new set of emotions to fuel the song and made the lyrics more meaningful for him since he wasn't only singing the song for the friend he dedicated the song for but also for another friend he lost. Same here, I've been listening to Linkin Park since 2000. Chester's music got me through some pretty bad times. Linkin park gave me the inspiration to pick up musical instruments. I've met the band on 7 occasions and Chester was the kindest person I have ever met, he had no hate in him. I'm glad that I was fortunate enough to speak to chester on 2 occasions for close to 30 minutes on 2 occasions. The day I learned of his death I could not stop sobbing. I had lost my grandpa to cancer a month earlier. As if my heart wasn't broken enough.
My brother passed away from cancer, years ago. I never got to say goodbye, never got to tell him a thousand things. I've had me darkest moments in this regard, but I'd like to think Chester got that when Chris passed and he wrote this song....I can hear the words I couldn't express in this and love the smile on Mike when the crowd screams CHESTER!!❤️
There were a few brief moments where you can physically see Mike struggle to maintain composure -- but the crowd, the LP Family, so visibly lifted his spirits and gave him the strength to muster through this song. So many complicated emotions during this song, for all of us. But we are ever-powerful when we lean upon one another and support each other. Together we are powerful and unstoppable. Together we can overcome any and all things.
Agreed. Cant imagine the sick feeling in the pit of his stomach and the broken heart he must have had when trying to do this song. Probably wanted to just sob, but he managed to complete the song with the crowds help #makechesterproud

Hey. To everyone reading this comment, I was the one who screamed his name... I was with my friends at the front, and I just felt like someone had to do it in that moment... I waited a few seconds and no one did, so I thought, well, I'm gonna have to I guess. I've kinda avoided watching these videos over for a long time, and even stopped/paused listening to LP for a while now. I'd just like to say I never expected such lovely comments, and how it made you emotional and stuff, like you felt it... I hope each and every single one of you keeps remembering Chester, doesn't give up, keeps up the fight, is there for one another, and continues to #BeKind. Thanks.
His grief is almost palpable. I can't even begin to understand it. They became closer than brothers during the time they performed together. RIP Chester and know that you are loved and missed all over the world.
bro its crazy how it still hurts so much to listen to the live stuff 3 years down the road. when he died, all the sudden all of his lyrics just made so much more sense in his personal context. you realize then, how much pain he was in constantly and just somehow always turned that into fuel for the fans. linkin park was like an extension of our collective families for so many years bc so many of us grew up defined by their music. the first album i ever bought with my own money at 12 years old was hybrid theory. chester helped all of us figure out how to navigate our lives through teenage angst and family problems and abuse for some and gave an outlet for all the negativity we would encounter in growing up. then for that light that was present in all of our collective darkness to just extinguish in an instant.. it sucked then and it still sucks 3 years down the road.
The moment that I found out that Chester died I cried hard at work I was so deeply sad It broke my heart it still is so sad that he's gone but we at least have his songs to remember him
5 years later and I still cannot put into words the feelings in that room at this point. I have never experienced anything like it. An absolute privilege to be there

crying! 2 years I still can't take it...MIKE SHINODA YOU ARE GREAT
Same here, I've been listening to Linkin Park since 2000.
Shinoda is such a talent
You can see to Mike eyes how painful when he lost Chester. Chester will never gone to our heart and mind. (Linkin Park forever)
Yes Chester was Mike's best friend

Bless you Mike.. I felt that.
its beautiful...were so lucky that Mike has remained to carry on the heart, spirit and music of Our Dear Loved Chester. The LP& Friends tour is the most heart felt and beautiful thing ive ever seen a Band do to honor the loss of someone who is truly loved & missed so much. Its such an amazing honor the LP guys would share their healing with us. One strong forever & always. Chester will always remain in our hearts and always will we honor his name and this special moment of healing, bonding, and connectiveness.❤❤❤❤
The way Mike shows Respect to Chester is amazing. Ofcourse Chester is a Legend. He is still alive in every fan's heart and Mike never forgets to give tribute to Chester. Chester you are being missed. It breaks my heart whenever I listen to the songs. We love you Chester. We miss you.
Thank you Mike for letting him live always.
Mike and Chester are my two favourite legends
I wish he would play this live more often, but I understand why he wouldn't. What a treat it must've been to be there in the audience.
Thanks.
Thank *YOU.*
Thanks for your love we love You too 🖤⚓
Thank you for screaming his name, I'm sure wherever Chester is he was smiling so big! If I had been there I would have screamed right along with you!
Thank you. Just…. Thank you x
Вы крутой!!! Вы правильно сделали!!! Жму Вам руку!!!!
Честер улыбается на небесах…
3:14 I couldn't stop crying especially to the reaction of the crowd and Mike 😢
oh no he didn't o.O
mad respect to mike for being able to pull this off
Chester 😭❤️
Chester 😢😢😢😢😢😢
The crowd's reaction when hearing the first note.... Tears. That legendary man that yelled Chester. Insta ugly cry.
Honestly it's been 3 years but i'm still here crying again and again...
Me too 🖤 I want it to get better than this feeling.
Well now it’s been 5 years since Chester has passed 😭😭😭😭😭
@@Hunter-qv5pc Yes and still counting.
Tohle je nejsilnější píseň jakou kdy LP vydali, miluji ji. Od momentu, kdy tam chlápek zakřičí Chester, nejde udržet slzy. Poklona Mikově síle.❤
His grief is almost palpable. I can't even begin to understand it. They became closer than brothers during the time they performed together. RIP Chester and know that you are loved and missed all over the world.
Coming up on the 3 year mark, and I still find it hard to grasp that he’s gone. We miss you so much. 🕯#MakeChesterProud
ano its so sad
mason3750 I never thought I could miss someone I never met, but I really sincerely do.
bro its crazy how it still hurts so much to listen to the live stuff 3 years down the road. when he died, all the sudden all of his lyrics just made so much more sense in his personal context. you realize then, how much pain he was in constantly and just somehow always turned that into fuel for the fans. linkin park was like an extension of our collective families for so many years bc so many of us grew up defined by their music. the first album i ever bought with my own money at 12 years old was hybrid theory. chester helped all of us figure out how to navigate our lives through teenage angst and family problems and abuse for some and gave an outlet for all the negativity we would encounter in growing up. then for that light that was present in all of our collective darkness to just extinguish in an instant.. it sucked then and it still sucks 3 years down the road.
The moment that I found out that Chester died I cried hard at work I was so deeply sad It broke my heart it still is so sad that he's gone but we at least have his songs to remember him
3:15 Gives me chills every time... God I wish I'd have gotten the chance to see them in person.
it's 2019 March, why am i still crying ?? :')
I understand your pain brother
Same here. Cried all day on 3/20. Heartbreaking
same... especially when that guy in the crowd yelled Chester
@@chaoticsoul4077 That part got me too
Me too omg.
Mike smiling after someone shouts 'Chester' and then at the end where he talks about him - beautiful
5 years later and I still cannot put into words the feelings in that room at this point. I have never experienced anything like it. An absolute privilege to be there
Completely. It was a special show before and after this moment, but this moment was completely unique. Never been to a show that had that reaction.
If this doesn't bring a tear to your eyes you're not human. WOW!! Rest easy Chester
Still can't believe Chester is gone. Two years this year... Hard to think about xx
Shaunna Edwards yes, very tough. But his memory will last forever!
Time flies and his memory still very live. 🔥🔥🔥
IT'S BEEN TWO FUCKING YEARS ALREADY?!?! How?!?😭😭😭 that's crazy!

Crying right now. It's unbelievable ...
Don’t ask who’s here in 2020, because we never left.
Totally!
ASW や RYUGA I almost did last year
@@MrBrayden217 I hope you are doing okay now, if you ever want to talk to a stranger - I am here for you. Just let me know.
And we never will
That's true
49 years old and i still tear up when i watch this video.
Chester touched all of our hearts.
One of the greatest songs written by any band period
" Just cause you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there" - Linkin Park. Chester will always stay with us through his music.
I do. RIP Chester!
I can't think of anyone else singing this song moving forward but Mike Shinoda. It should be rightfully his to sing. You have a beautiful voice, Mike.
sung by mike it hits different, it's so peacefully gorgeous
I'm not crying! You're crying!
"Thank you for saying his name."
2021 still we remember you. gone but never forgotten.
"thank you for saying his name" dude i understand what u say with this and thank you for being part in my life mike
I was there and couldn't believe I was actually listening to it, tears big time.
Every time I hear this song...It gets to me.
Instant tears.
Chester was the yin to Mike's yang.
They were kindred spirits. Soul mates.
The pain must be insane...
You're not the only one
OK. This has me in tears. The love and pain in Mike's face... Oh, Chester, be Mike's guardian angel until his to time to join you comes...
"Love you Chester, i miss you" I don't know who yelled at that minute but I also felt it. 3:21. 😥
I am dedicating One More Light to my son whom passed away 32 years ago today. Xxx To you little one 🦋
I am so sorry for your loss
Sorry for the loss of your son. 32 yrs 🙏 lost, my daughter Alicia and my three grandchildren Ella Eva and Emery last year in a tragic fire, this song hits hard 💔 for me ,,yes, it matters if one person does pass especially if it's to soon and they weren't meant to pass rip Chester, Chris, Alicia, Ella Eva and Emery and Kyle and Noah..
That’s smile of Mike when someone’s screams Chester is a painful smiling but feeling the full extent of the pain
There was even a big biker dude stood next to me, bowing his head, shedding a few tears... Mike, what an amazing performance! Truly amazing, emotional and memorable. #makechesterproud
If you were on the front barrier that could have been me
2023...не могу сдержать слез... Плачу каждый раз😢😢😢... Майк такой сильный и своей улыбкой вселяет спокойствие❤❤❤ Честер навсегда в сердце 💔💔💔

💜💜
your son listens to the right music from the first moments if his life. thank you for that
Mine too, since she was 2 months old
I wish I could like this more than once. As soon as Mike asked the crowd for help the tears started and didn't stop for the whole 4 minutes of the song. This so means so much to me.
I'm crying, miss Chester so much. I'm glad that you sing this song again and I trust you that LP will be rised again. You are a Legend. Mike.
Sorry but it is official #RIPLINKINPARK(1996-2017)
@@ddky2691 as it Was known, you mean
ddk y2 how is it official? Were there any confirmations?
@@koala.justakoala4287 every member has confirmed that they will not replace their brother so no concert and album from LP anymore conclusion :- #RIPLINKINPARK(1996-2017)
ddk y2 umm no? Just cause they said they won’t replace chester don’t mean lp is dead. However judging by you logic it was dead from the moment chester died. It would be more accurate to say lp with chester is dead. But lp as a band overall isn’t finished yet
Hallo random person scrolling through the comments you dropped this 👑 here you go. Make sure to keep your head up so it doesn't fall of again.
:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHESTER xxx
Mike, I hope you read this comment. Thank you for carrying the weight and singing this song live. We love you and support you
Idk how he keeps it together playing this. I tear up just heating the song start.
I think at this point hes finally moved past the tears and hes stronger.
that little smile after 'should have stayed' when he heard everyone join in
Singing with you mike.... chester is a legend ❤
Man the whole crowd was bracing for the feels once the first note hit
