    That’s quite the fleet of equipment. It’s impressive to watch an outfit like that work. The one thing that always grinds my gears with a operation this size is how they bore thru the mud just like at the beginning of the video. To each their own, but my dad would rip you a new one one for boring up his farm and it’s a value I still stick with to this day.

    Great video as ever, the figures you quoted at the start are absolutely mind blowing to someone here in the UK, that field that was being harvested is larger than the majority of the complete farms here. A truly well oiled team of harvesters well coordinated and a great watch.

    We just started wheat harvest yesterday, had about 400 acres planted but about 150 of it pretty much taken out by weeds so we're not sure our guys will be able to harvest that circle or not. We'll have to wait and see when they get to it.

    Wonder why they run the reels so far down into the grain? I learned to set the reel so it wasn’t much deeper than the heads of the grain, so the reel didn’t shatter grain off the heads and/or knock heads off the grain stalk.

    • @anthonybanda8192
      @anthonybanda8192 2 года назад +1

      They had heavy rains which knocked down the wheat in spots lodging it. The mudd in the beginning is a dead giveaway that storms had been in the area . Thick wheat will lodge after rains to quickly harvest it without losing yield they run the reel lower and faster . With the macdon heads the reel can run lower without issues especially in beans . My family runs 2 40 foot macdon heads .

    On my bosses wheat harvest operation, there's 2 John Deere 9660 STS combines (one is a Bullet Rotor) their oldest brother owns a John Deere 9760 STS combine. The bullet rotor combine uses a John Deere 635D 35' draper head, and the other 2 combines use 630F 30' hydraflex headers, and with the grain cart, their oldest brother owns a John Deere 8120 with tinted windows that I used last fall to haul corn with an A&L F705 700 bushel grain cart. With trucks, they use 2 semis with 38' 1000 bushel trailers to haul the wheat to the Conway Springs Farmers Coop.

The size of the field was mental too but think this channel has show us bigger? when I last worked for a farmer in 1986 we used a IH 1460 with an 18’ head, a White dump truck and a 1949 International truck. My grandfather last farmed in 1966. he had a Massey Harris pull type combine with an 8’ head, and two International trucks, 1947 and 1949. Sometimes he used his brothers Ford Truck with a flathead V8 (old army truck)
    BTW, those army trucks stemmed to last forever. I don’t think there was a farmer around who didn’t have one.

    Millions of $$$$ in FREE government taxpayer money subsidizing and enriching wealthy farmers who own and control land resources already and who don't need the welfare. This may be a great video but it is courtesy of the American taxpayer. This farm raked in over $5.535M in commodity subsidies over the years. That does not include crop insurance subsidies which account for 60% of the premium paid per acre. The crop insurance subsidy could be as high as $15 per acre or $150,000 every year on 10K acres. This farm is probably at least 20K acres ($300,000 CI subsidy) and could be as large as 40K acres ($600,000 CI subsidy). The Garnett's should be extremely grateful for the generosity of the hard wording American taxpayer for they have made the Garnett's lives much easier.

      The storm did not really hurt anything. It knocked some corn over but they were back to cutting the next day. The begging of this video was filmed the day after the storm that’s why you see some mud.

      This was filmed mid way through harvest at 8:15 at night. The wheat was plenty dry to heaviest but dew was setting in.

      It is. They demoed a Lexion in 2016. This video is a compilation of the 2014, 2016 and 2018 wheat harvest in the same field.
