    What a humble man. I miss the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yee. Many people have judged him for his dictatorship-style, but how many have stepped into his shoes to face the issues of the day with the limited resources, dangers, and tensions, etc. As a Singaporean, I can only say I'm grateful to be able to afford to buy a house, find work, go to school and still receive opportunities to study on a part-time basis, safe foods, high standards of governance. Holding the Singapore passport, I travel freely and find people have heard about our "little red dot" and the achievements we've attained for a very short time. These are attributed to Mr. Lee's sacrificial service to the country, we all call HOME.

    Lee Kuan Yew is without doubt one of the greatest statesmen of the second half of the 20th century from any country. He didn't just transform a third-world backwater to one of the world's richest and most dynamic economies. Singapore's success was the model for China's economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping. Singapore is therefore fundamental to China's own economic rise. RIP to a truly great man!

    • @pujadaflash1494
      @pujadaflash1494 4 года назад +18

      It’s not about the British colonisation or China embrace. It’s more of the aspirations and clamour of Honkongers for more Open society, democracy, and for Business and Enterprise to thrive and progress. This may have been suppressed during British rule, but there was democratic space. I don’t think Hongkong would react if the same environment exists or is being threatened. Certainly Deng xiao Peng’s formula of One Country Two Systems is no longer there. I hope this ongoing problem will be resolved soon and fast. Thanks

    • @lrsy5946
      @lrsy5946 4 года назад +49

      @@pujadaflash1494 It is not that the democratic space does not exist. Now Hong Kong people have more democratic rights than during the British rule. The principle of one country was destroyed by ignorant mobs. Increased economic inequality has been used by conspirators to become a democracy issue. Very similar to the French yellow vest movement. The current Hong Kong media and Western media have adopted double standards in order to demonize Communist China. Police violence, which is clearly lower than Western society, is infinitely exaggerated. Freedom should hear different voices, but the current media is magnifying populism and color revolution.

    sigh. In the heart of Lee, even at that time, he still felt the pain of leaving his Chinese and Indians comrades in Malaysia. He can only made up by giving more jobs to Malaysia Chinese and Indians when Singapore is better off. He got his people support through the socialist core in Singapore but he swiped them all into cells. When the opportunity presented, he contributed to help China to reform and took a first step into genuine socialism where a billion Chinese are lifted out of poverty. To me, at this age, his legacy is a positive one.

    i am a singaporean living in macao n viewing the hk situation with growing distaste each n every day. mm lee didn't wild guess back then that a streetfighter will be needed as a leader in hk today, he visioned that with the 1c2s in place for 50yrs n the cultural turmoil we went through 50yrs ago in singapore, being the maths major he was with a lifelong passion in politics, he put 2 n 2 together n foresaw that, IF, a soft CE takes office in hk, he/she will not be able to quell the cultural differences n political sensitivity btwn china n hkers which will, slowly but surely, simmer to the boiling point it is today. the streetfighter he metaphored must be able to convince hkers that the 1c2s is a cold hard truth which they must make the best of it even though they hated it while fending off china's stealth ruling n sporadic intervention on another front. he/she must lead hk with conviction on both homeground n beijing fronts n not be like the yes-man CL is. we as singaporeans adore mm lee to death, his rule was suffocating at times, but a necessity without the slightest doubt. u have my utmost respect, mr lee kuan yew sir.

      LKY is not interested interfere in China affair because he is not a British Imperialist or American white supremacist. The British governed China with an iron hand and now urge the Hong Kong rioters to damage their own country. American white supremacists cannot forgive China for daring to be Communist and still do good for its people. Their National Endowment for Democracy (CIA in disguise) give money to the rioters and other anti-China to buy masks, money and skill to make petrol bombs, also give the American flags which the rioters proudly wave while at the same time they throw the Chinese 5 Stars into the sea.
