  • There will be no physical National Day Rally this year due to Covid-19, and PM Lee will make his "major speech" in Parliament instead.
From Lee Kuan Yew ranking his leaders, to Goh Chok Tong telling Phua Chu Kang to speak proper English, and Lee Hsien Loong's fishball stick story, here are some of the most iconic moments from previous rallies' speeches by our PMs.
0:00 Lee Kuan Yew, 1966, one year after independence
0:51 Lee Kuan Yew, 1971, six years after independence
2:00 Lee Kuan Yew, 1983, the Great Marriage Debate
2:43 Lee Kuan Yew, 1988, "And even from my sick bed..."
2:58 Lee Kuan Yew, 1988, his rankings of the leaders
5:22 Goh Chok Tong, 1991, his first NDR speech as Prime Minister
5:37 Goh Chok Tong, 1999, on Phua Chu Kang
7:33 Goh Chok Tong, 2002, on "quitters" and "stayers"
8:11 Lee Hsien Loong, 2006, "Mee siam mai hum"
8:42 Lee Hsien Loong, 2014, the fishball stick story
10:18 Lee Hsien Loong, 2016, after his fainting spell

Unfortunately Malays in Malaysia simply don't trust DAP leaders or practically any Chinese politician.
And I must say I agree with their assesment.
Chinese in Malaysi even refuse eto read 3pages of Jawi in schools. How long it takes to learn 3 pages of Jawi. Maybe one hour from all the times w shave 365 days a year.
Yet you expect the Malays to trust Chinese to lead Malaysia?

I mean, indeed these are our leaders. How much I'm not a supporter for their party's platform and ideology, LKY built this nation (albeit not on his own), he was the manager. GCT liberalized hardcore LKY policies with the consequence be it good or bad are on the shoulders of LHL. Looks like LHL and the PAP may be seeing real competition in the years to come. PAP run govts has been great, but democracy at play, more voices shd be heard and there'll be more to come.
