    Amazing stuff. You have an excellent blast from the past here, keep it preserved

      Thanks. They live on a nice glass shelf, awaiting the day they are needed again or some Warhammer-like apocalypse, whichever comes first.

    I bought the reprint of Rogue Trader recently. Nice trip down memory lane.

      Nice. You know, I never owned my own copy of Rogue Trader. I photocopied all the pages of a friend’s book at a record store because they had the cheapest copy machine in town. Ah, the 90s.

    This is incredible work for a kid in high school. I barely managed to paint thirty or so space marines, a handful of imperial guard, and some miscellaneous fantasy models.

      Thanks. I managed to find a fair amount of time for painting in high school by being incredibly uncool.

    Holy crap dude, I started in 2nd/3rd edition, and my models looked like garbage for the first few years, could chisel the paint off! This stuff is incredible for a teenager with the tools available at the time.

      I credit my early advantage to two things. One was a little pamphlet titled “How to Paint Miniatures” or something. It went over the basics like undercoats, washes, and mixing colors for highlights. The other is my mom, who did tole painting. I got some basics from her, and also ended up stealing her paints.

      @@dmgashbad4908 That does help, but even so, I'd be intimidated to do some of that freehand now! I miss old banners.

    Rogue Trader...good times! I still have, and use, my 2,000 points of lead Eldar Aspect Warriors. The art in the White Dwarf is what got me into 40K in 1990. Played Fantasy before then.

    • @dmgashbad4908
      @dmgashbad4908  2 года назад +1

      That’s fantastic. We had an Eldar player in the old group, and those metal guardians and aspect warriors were great. The fact that you’re still using them is inspiring.

    I only played 2nd and 3rd edition 40k as my first love was WHFB 3rd edition onwards... I remember having eldar, some orks and some marines, the latter two from the box set. Loved seeing the older models with great customisation, really liked the robots, drednoughts and the infamous scorcher!

    • @dmgashbad4908
      @dmgashbad4908  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, I stopped at the start of 3rd edition when Fantasy took over all my Warhammering. Still love the old models, though, especially the robots.

      Awesome! I always wanted some human mercenary freebooterz for my Ork army. Like so many things I never got around to it. Good to hear somewhere in the galaxy Orks and ‘Oomies we’re working together causing misery to some other species.

    Amazing work on that army truly!! So many great paint jobs and all those gorgeous banners! :D
    Really nice man! I was, and still am, a Ork boy at heart but never had such a great army as this I just had a few squads and some other bits. I too built that vehicle with the big wheels I think there was instructions in a White Dwarf right? Really fun to hear you talking about them all and recalling how different minis came about. Oh, and also amazing to see those tin botz. I had forgotten those existed so that brought back some memory flashes. Such fun weird little minis and I love the idea of them being janky bad mockeries of the other species! :D

      Yeah, those were some of my favorites. I never did manage to get ahold of one of those force field robots that would follow around your snotlings or gretchen (runtbotz?). Thanks for the kind words.

      White Dwarf issue 136 has the blueprints for the various vehicles. I have a couple of Gobsmashers and Lungbusters, as well as an oversized Bonecrusher. I'm sure you could find the blueprints online though, they were popular builds for the day.

    I had one of those Battle Wagons back in the day too.. :) Loaded it full of 2nd Ed Goffs from the starter box often.. Dropping a few, that hung from the "mast".. lol Great times.

    • @dmgashbad4908
      @dmgashbad4908  2 года назад +2

      I think I would sometimes hook their legs onto the banner pole. Dropping models was a hallmark of those early days. I used to think, “It doesn’t matter if I win, but I’m going to really try to not break any models this game.”

      @@dmgashbad4908 Lol, yeah. :)
      Cannot remember how many Goffz I carted around, but it was a bunch.. Once had a Swooping Hawk Excharch intercept it, full of Goffs. He blew it up, somehow, (Panzees!), killed a bunch, and hiself.. ;) Ork style.. or that was the plan all along..

      @@dmgashbad4908 I was into D&D long before I got into Warhammer and its spin offs. Fell in love with the early GW Miniatures, wanted all the ADD range. Only embraced 40K in the past few years. Lots of my 40K stuff is 3D printed, but very oldhammer based. I have a 40K Orc & Gobbo Army, but about 80% are 3D printed. I liked all the smaller earlier mini's. But it limits what modern stuff you can use, because of scale. Your Army is a fantastic leap down nostalgia Street. Thanks for posting.
