Bart Simpson has discovered that mutants have a machine to enter ingredients which will allow them to conquer the Earth. Bart goes in search of these ingredients to hide them or to take them, avoiding disaster. His adventure will take him across an amusement park, the shopping mall, and the museum, to name a few.
This is a very hard game. Its controls are very poor, and the collision detection is very glitchy, making you fall through platforms to your death.
This movie beats the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 2 minutes and 20.9 seconds. Much of it comes from using a "bunny hop" trick.

Watch this run being played back on a real console ( • [TAS Verified] NES The... ).
I love how a lot of old nes platformers have it to where the fastest way to move involves jumping backwards 😂
I still wonder sometimes why the very early simpsons games had this minor key oppressive atmosphere to them. Then I watched season 1 straight through earlier this year and it made more sense.
watching this makes me glad i never tried to finish this game. it's a slog.
Getting to the museum level as a kid is probably the biggest achievement of my gaming "career". As bad as this game is, it still holds a special place in my heart.
Its special place for me was the rubbish bin, I absolutely hated the controls. :D Seriously, whoever came up with the idea that the run and the jump button should be one and the same deserved a hard slap.
They shouldve made the first level the power plant, so Bart can get radiation poisoning, die, and then you don't have to play through the rest of this rancid trashpile. Over 30 years later and I'm still bitter.
You, me, and AVGN.
_Did The Devs Even Do Any Play Testing Before It's Release?_
Every gamer of a certain age had a run-in with Bart vs The Space Mutants. Of the home version of Simpsons games at the time it was among the least bad, but the only good one from that era was the Konami arcade one.
*E A T M Y S H O R T S*
The infamous sound of these games is due to one guy that wrote this terrible sound driver
Thousands and millions of children suffered.
it's too bad konami or capcom never had the licenses to make simpsons games for the NES. Hmm, at 8:08 or so, is that background recycled from a boy and his blob? the chocolate mountains area. It has some changes but the mountain parts sure look similar; likewise the random "forest" area background at 6:03 seems familiar, too.
I remember finishing this as a child on the Sega Master System. Even though I never played the NES verison I can still see the jank deeply rooted into this version I had to overcome.
*The same enginee from A Boy and his Blog and Gost Busters* .
When i was 5 i used to think getting to the babysitter at the end of the mall level had taken me forever, like an epic journey far from home. This dude got there in 4 minutes 😮
You know ow the styling has begun when the backward jumps begin
I remember trying to play this game to see what the other levels were like. My god I couldn't get past level 2, the things you have to spray/turn blue is horrendous; not only counting the fact that the run button is the same as jump! It makes every jump a jump of fate.
After getting frustrated with this, I abandoned the game. After a while I decided to try de Genesis version, thinking it would have better controls and graphics. Nope, everything stays the same. What a let down.
TL;DR: This game is slow, couldn't get pass level 2. Tried the Genesis version, but nothing changed.
The movement in this is so goofy I love it

Man, the early Simpson home console games (this and Barts nightmare, specifically) were just slogs to go through.
love some early simpsonsmania jank
I beat this game when I was a kid. Probably the greatest game achievement of my life.
2:56 skibidi shoe
i laugh my ass off whenever i hear 8-bit "eat my short"
Yo tuve este juego en el sega mega drive. Nunca pase de la mitad del primer nivel.
I like the Cirno at the start of the video :3
the jumping sound is so unpleasant that i couldn't get half way through
What is the reason behind playing the balloon game so many times?
The objective of Level 3 is to blow up or touch as many balloons as you can. In the dart mini-game, you can blow up some balloons quickly. However, if you complete the goal of that mini-game (hit 3 blue balloons), you won't be able to play it again. So the author intentionally loses several times to blow up more balloons.
@Dimon12321 all this time and I never realized that the balloons in that game counted toward the goal!
Thanks for the answer
I have an old nes and this is the only game I have for it, and I couldn't get past the first level
"Eat my shorts"
-Bart Simpson
Cool, man.
would be neat to have Lenny and Carl as assistants in the final level, or even Mr. Burns, since the aliens invaded His plant.
