0:15:43 That's a load of bunk made up by Dereleth. Cthulhu is not "trapped" by the water, he's merely dreaming there. 0:20:55 That's one of Lovecraft's main flaws-he tends to do narratives of a guy doing a confession letter and keeps on writing even though the monster is right outside the room, banging on the door or window and is about to get them. That part is a tad bit unrealistic. -_-' 0:27:16 The Cthonians were made by Brian Lumley, about half a century after Lovecraft died. I do like Lumley, but his stories get a bit too pulpy at times for Lovecraft Mythos. More Robert E. Howard than H.P. Lovecraft. 0:39:56 Yes, I don't like Dereleth either. He didn't get Lovecraft, but (ironically) he saved the Mythos by pushing to make it more popular and preserving and reprinting Lovecraft's old writings. If he hadn't saved and reprinted HPL's old stories, we probably wouldn't know about him and his stories would probably be gone by now, due to the books being destroyed by time. Dereleth is a double-edged sword. 0:50:35 How did he invent the Hydrogen Bomb? Both HPL and Tesla were DEAD when it was invented! 1:20:56 Ugh! There was NOTHING in the story about trying to get Wilbur's brother to reproduce or him looking for his "missing" Brother! The (literal) bigger brother was kept in their House and they were trying to summon Yog-Sototh to bring an end to humanity! I love this show, I just wish these guys would do their homework a bit more before spouting random stuff during a podcast. :-/
Guys...artist don't perceive the "dreams of Cthulhu" because they get "high", but because they are what Lovecraft called "sensitives". New-age nuts call them "Indigo children, or children of the light"....they have a tendency to become artists because the subconsciously pick up on the emotions of those around them which in turn usually engenders a curiosity with inciting emotions, and manipulating them, through artistic creations, which noted artist and philosopher Alex Grey called, "artifacts". Since they essenttialy are radio recievers tuning in to psychic energy currents that surround us....they are the 1st to pick up on Cthulhu's sleepy consciousness as it slowly rises from its looooong slumber....the 1st faint screams of his alien mind r heard 1st by them because they were listening to the right way to the right things.
