  • We will remain fools for Christ when we are convinced of the future hope that lies before us. Knowing that we will see God face-to-face and experience glorification will strengthen us to persevere in the Christian walk. In this message, Dr. Derek Thomas stresses our final hope of glory, exploring how knowing the end of all things empowers us for service today.

Dear Derek, this eternal moment is all there is.
Your god is your own creation.

Your eyes are blind and you heart deceives you. Look all around you. God is real and everything exists by Him. With great assurance I tell you, you are bound for Hell. You are wicked. All that you do is only counted as evil. However, the very same God that you blaspheme and call man’s creation, He sent His son to die in your place so that, if you receive faith from Him, you may be regenerated. No longer will you rely upon your righteousness and understanding, but instead, Christ’s righteousness will be accounted as yours. He enables His own to do good works. And it pleases Him. His glory is in all of His creation, and it is in the actions of His believers. This grace filled life, this eternal glory is secured forever and costs nothing. It is truly a gift. It cannot and will not be taken and it comes at no stipulations. All it requires is faith. And God is so gracious that He gives this faith. He speaks into the darkness, “Let there be light.” And there is. And it is good. Once you are born again by the Spirit, He does not leave you or abandon you, but instead He helps you, comforts you, guides you, protects you, and empowers you. All of this, He does for His glory. So sing praises to our LORD. Do not blaspheme Him. Repent, and sin no more. Why would you continue bearing the heavy yoke of sin and self righteousness and self glory when the yoke of Christ is light and easy? Either you will die or He will come, whichever comes first, but you will stand before Him and be judged for all of your actions. Not a single one is good so long as you live apart from Him. But find salvation in Him, and you will partake in glory.
