- Take off video inside one of the last in passenger configuration MD-11 aircraft during the Farewell MD-11 event.
Flight number: KL9897
Date: 11 november 2014
Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas MD-11
Regristration and name: PH-KCD 'Florance Nightingale'
Origin and destination: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS/EHAM), gate C22
Takeoff runway: 18L
Seat: 10A (Premium Economy class).
So sad to see these beautiful birds go. They don't build 'em like that anymore.
Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to fly on one...they weren't used much by US carriers. Spent plenty of time in DC-10s though at least.
+jeepxjdude2000 Beautiful yes...but...these planes had stabilization issues that made crosswind landings in particular challenging...caused 2 major crashes for FedEx as cargo jets. American Airlines hated this jet when it first got them in the early 1990s and got rid of them within a couple of years. Fuel economy and range goals when not met. Delta also got rid of them too. They live on as cargo jets though. Newer technology jets like the 777 are much better and safer.
A very nice video! That sure was a long taxi to the runway! Being it was this aircraft's final flight, that had to have been quite emotional for the entire crew unless I am wrong.
kenpalmer1965 First I want to thank you for your comment. It was a long taxi yeah. I was surprised by the huge amount of people standing along the taxiways and runway to see this beautiful bird doing her last flights. It was emotional for the crew and fans, but also a very impressive farewell.
Great footage of the take off. I will definitely miss this aircraft :(
if Boeing resurrect the md-11, i would love to ride 'em all the time
I hope they do. It'd be really cool if Boeing or Airbus would make a new version of the md-11. I could see it being either the Boeing 797 or the Airbus A-360.
Rusty Horse me too!
Me too since I have never flown on one!
They should have updated the Technology of that plane.

MD11 are beautiful machines.
Jesus I thought the plane was gonna drive to its destination! T/O roll begins @13:02
the md 11 sound is not as legendary as the dc 10 sound but i love them both
I sadly nether flown on a md-11 but I have flown on a Fokker f-100 that does not
Fly anymore
speeedy takeoff....only MD-11...i love this plane
The mistake of MD-11 was the engine on tail.Being only a two engined aircraft, would be a sucess of sales.
@@naderhallik9722 A aircraft with only 2 2 engines would reach the goals of range.
@@naderhallik9722 With 3 engines, more fuel consumption than with just 2. When it was launched, in 1990, the demand for bireactors was greater and the trireactors were irrelevant.
No it wouldn’t have at the time. ETOPS was the reason trijets are a thing anyway.
@@LarryMarston By the time the MD-11 came around, Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 already flew long distance on two engines.
But MDD didn't have the reccources to create a new plane
I would love to have participated in this!
If you search for "MD-11 Engine Sound" You can't find any window view takeoff anymore...
Too bad I never got to ride on one. ;(
Me neither.
Just born a little to late to be on one of the last flights and never flew with the right airline when I still had the chance.
Yeah they are my fav aircraft🛫
Throttle up & T/O @13:00 and throttle back is @14:10
What is that mechanical squeal sound in the cabin @4:35?
Fine this view from the window.
nice video
This is a MD 11 video why the 747 , I mean the 747 is cool and huge but RIP the md11
I wish i saw the klm md11
is the tail engine startup sounds the same thing like the wings?
Yup, all 3 engines are the same.
Spend much time filming taxiing , should shoot more during flight
KLM wouldn't be around if not for American airliners.
Dat dit niet veel meer is uitgemolken i.p.v. zo'n idiote introductievlucht voor een 13-in-een-dozijn 787....prachtige kist de MD-11.
fuckin rocket jet :)
Oh my... the engine's gonna fall off.
Jett Rink no
This is not a dc 10 lol
Maintenance error not the planes’ fault
Fucking 13 minutes to take off 🙄
mexican
MD11 nick named Mega Death the Lockheed Tristar L1011 was a better plane
Adrian Evans
You’re right but that was mostly because of the early model dc-10’s, a handful of them crashed because of the cargo doors opened outward instead of inward like most other airliners and mixed with a flaw which caused the ground crews to not close them properly after loading them and in turn rip off during flight which then caused explosive decompression and a huge amount of drag. By the time the MD-11 came about they already had that squared away though so I agree with you with the dc-10 but the md-11 I can’t talk bad about even though they are basically the same configuration.
Adrian Evans the MD-11 is a really good plane, would like it if McDonnell Douglas made the MD-11-40, that would be very cool
Demon50 oops, I meant to say McDonnell Douglas 😄
I nickname the DC10 the Death Cruiser v 10
You meant the DC10 not the MD11. 50% of the company changed when it became McDonnell Douglas. YOU ARE ON THE WRONG VIDEO. The MD11 is my favorite aircraft. I dont like the DC10s or the L1011s that much. They are pretty low on the list next to a Cessna 172. Dont come on the video commemorating a plane trashing it when it wasn't even made by the same company. It was improved after the merger. Not the same plane. If Douglas solely built the MD11 it would have been ass with wings too. But instead it was pretty well ahead of it's time technology wise... please do not shit in the street of comments on subjects I love or I'll start doing it on cat video to ruin that for you.... street shitter...
