That is a crazy applicable situation. People drink because it makes them feel better about theemself and their problems. It runs in the family and he is drinking for the same reason his dad did, it makes you feel better and like you have more power over your life.
I unfortunately was that abusive ugly drunk I'd black out and be so terrible to my wife and the next day not remember a thing eventually this is reached critical mass and she left...I did love her but addiction doesn't care what you love it takes everything away all the same and I've missed the life I had with her ever since been sober 3 years now
@Rkay421 thanks my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner I wasted so much time and lost the woman I truly loved most just was to late perhaps the grief and loss of losing her is what was needed but it stills a heavy price

I have a deep, philosophical question about redemption. 2:55 considering that Shawn did that, to his own girlfriend, how is it that he is redeemed later? Personally, I feel that once you've laid a hand on your girlfriend or wife, you are officially unforgivable and that the aura of shame/badness _stays_ on you (so to speak).
In some aspects you're right. I always advocate for never putting your hands on a woman regardless if you're angry or otherwise. However the guy was a kid and only did it because he was drunk. I'm not saying that drunk people get a pass to be abusive but hopefully that was a one time thing. On his girlfriend's part, sometimes when women are in that honeymoon phase of a relationship, they will excuse some clear red flags and I do feel like she was too quick to forgive him. But i won't say that once you hit someone, you're forever a violent person. People can change and grow
