Love your work Youthman. So cool to see you watching and supporting Audio Advice work as well. The two of you are the most authentic and just gives you even more credibility to what we all know!
That theater speaks my design language, but for me, I prefer the ceiling to look dark just like a commercial movie theater. And have some of those recessed lights on the ceiling.
"Just coming out of this elevator to enter the basement..." within the first 4 seconds of the video I knew this theater was out of my price range. Awesome video and setup. The single remote control is great when the rack/equipment is far away, but how do you handle things like game controllers? PS5 for example has bluetooth controllers but in my experience suffers if you have to go through a wall or two.
Great question! The homeowner doesn't haven't any game consoles currently hooked up yet but when they do, we typically run an HDMI from the room where the rack is, into the theater and hide it in a cabinet or somewhere close by. That way the Xbox or PS5 is actually in the theater room with you so the controllers aren't having to connect to the system that is far away in the rack. Hope that helps!
Excellent showcase! Some may think you need a full separates system for Synthesis speakers, but Anthem's MRX1140 and MRX740 each have impressive power, and room correction!
Wow... At first I thought there was no acoustical treatment at all...but then I heard how well damped Scott's voice was when he stepped inside. The look and integration is seamless (pun intended) !
What a phenomenal entertainment space. The owner should be ver very proud of the entire offerings I’ve seen here. WoW . Trinnov, Purifi Amps, Lumagen/MadVR is calling their name tho lol. Hehehehe
You can still watch TVs while you are standing I think you need to mount TVs higher, they aren't high enough. Just below ceiling is the best place for TVs or the ceiling itself.
That basement is larger than my first two houses put together... And that projector alone costs as much as my first home. I can't imagine what these people do for a living to be able to afford this stuff. Amazing.
I watch this every time I look at my setup, which is identical save for the Sony VPL-XW5000ES 4K HDR Laser Home Theater Projector. My only question is that I have a 9.4.4 setup and your online tool does not support 9.4.4, thus I am unable to design (some may argue that I do not need 9.4.4 at all, but that is another topic to tackle). Second, the video shows that the last row of seating is flush with the wall. Is it possible to hear the rear surround with appropriate sound travel and separation? Should there be some room between the back surround and the last row seating of at least 3-5 feet?
It sounds like you have a great set up. Our tool now includes wide speakers so you should be able to do 9.2.4, although the tool does not really give you exact sub locations> We always help our clients purchasing from us design the room. Ideally you want room between the back wall and the last row, but it is not always possible
That's the exact seating layout I'm looking to do in my theater - same room size too. How deep is each platform? I have 11' to use for the risers and hope that's enough
@AudioAdvice, I'm curious about the projector placement. Were you lucky and able to place the projector between floor joists or trusses or did you have to modify the structure? (actually I should have finished the video, I see the whole setup is off center to make that aisle so the projector is actually centered on the screen even though it's off center in the rooom) I wish I could have done that!
by the way, in order to combat the effect of standing waves, it is recommended to install at least 4 subwoofers! the effect of standing waves can create very uneven bass, in one place you will be fine, in another so-so, and in the third bad
Nice clean setup, but the white area of ceiling directly above the (too high screen for my taste) is absolutely KILLING the contrast of the picture with light spill kicking back to the screen. Ideally, the area at least 5 ft around the screen in all forward directions (not including the screen's wall) should be very dark and non-reflective. Black velvet is ideal, similar to what is already around the screen frame. I've done this with my own setup and the difference in picture quality is stunning!
Thank you, glad you liked it. That would be ideal but there is always a design trade off to deal with and with a projector of this light output, it already has amazing pop.
@@AudioAdvice It’s all about contrast not brightness. Brightness doesn’t overcome light kickback, in fact it can make it worse. Stopping the kickback with light absorption at reflective surfaces does. I’m sure that projector has amazing pop, but with light absorption treatment near the screen , especially the ceiling, it could be much better.
The walls are all wrapped in a custom fabric to cover the acoustic panels on every wall. In person it's similar to Sherwin Williams peppercorn if you're looking for a similar match in terms of paint color.
Amazing video, thanks for sharing. I often see two supply and two exhaust vents in home theaters and planning mine soon. Any reason you had just one supply and exhaust? I appreciate airflow and oversized vents need to be considered regardless.
This room is essentially underground and has a variable speed high efficiency HVAC system. It is extremely quiet in there. We do agree for most rooms more supplies and an oversized return is better but with its location the room needs little conditioning. Thanks for watching
It looks like the lighting on the stairs and risers is color enabled. Can you change the colors from the remote control? Great job having the colors but not having it hit the screen.
Yep! You can change the colors to any preset color or drag along a color wheel to match perfectly. It all can be control within Control4 on a tablet, remote, or phone app!
One thing you can add to the tool is the ability to adjust which speakers dispersion we can see. Maybe by speaker pairs or by layers. Its hard to tell what's what when you have a lot of speakers and its showing dispersion for all of them.
This theater room and basement are incredible. It looks like the atmos speakers are all just outside of the seating area. If I understand correctly, that enabled everyone to have an accurate spatial audio experience in the seating area. Is that correct?
Yes, if you use our patented home theater design tool at www.audioadvice.com it will let you decide if you want focus the sound on just the main listening position or all the seats or anywhere in between. Thanks for watching
It was considered, however the JBL synthesis sides have covered the seating area well and the homeowner chose to skip out on front wides. Great question!
I have a similar sized room. Is at an issue for spatial audio that the seats are offset from the center of the room or is that corrected by the Anthem when it calculates distances to each speaker?
The sound when moving from speaker to speaker in a given scene. The best would be that all the sound reproduction to be faithful, then they have to be of the same kind of speakers in terms of its power, frequency response, attack, sound throw pattern, etc ., Only then, the imaging can be matched, so that its seamless sound everywhere .Hence close to the natural feel of the content. Its amazing to experience. Yes, I know the limitations of the price and size to achieve it and NOT many practice that way. The companies try to get closer in doing this by, using the same Midrange-Tweeter combination to the Atmos & Surrounds. Also, the Ceiling mount multiway speakers, even if its concentric, the image of the sound will be poor by its virtue of build. We can try full range to minimise this for a better imaging. Hope this makes sense and give it a try if possible to enrich the unique experience in the Home Theater Room for as many seats possible.
@Audio Advice I would like a ballpark of how much a similar theatre with audio advice being involved from the first to last steps would be so I can budget it in. Thanks
I love how no one every criticizes anything. The room looks great. Rear seats against the back wall and seating that is off center make me cringe. Maybe the homeowner just wanted max seating in that space, idk. I didn't see any acoustic treatment, why? I think it needs another pair of side speakers and the rears should be closer together. Another pair of subs in the back of the room would balance out the bass better. Nice room, kind of sterile design.
Thanks for sharing. Yes, this homeowner wanted to maximize seating in this theater. And every wall is covered in acoustic panels. It's a mix of absorption and diffusion placed in certain areas. All the speakers were placed within Dolby spec but adding more subs in the back would be ideal. Obviously it is always a balance between what the customer wants and making it perform the best it possibly can. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Cheers 👍
That is all in the prewire stage. If you wire for the future, you are set. The next potential step in Atmos technology is "front wide" and "screen height" making the system a 7.2.8.
