This song always remind me of my boy who passed in high school unexpectedly. He loved Saves the Day so we all rocked the fuck out to them together, cathartic to say the least
Wow what an amazing cover, what a captivating voice to contrast with Chris' high but mellow voice, Ruston's gives it a gritty textured contrast. Absolutely nailed this song!
I feel bad for Saves the Day. They got ignored during their creative apex. The singer fried his vocal chords and now has to sing super high pitched. It turns a lot of people away from what is actually INCREDIBLE songwriting.
The original song's chord progression goes as I wrote below. I don't have a guitar within reach but I've got a piano right here. Just remember: The guy in the video playing it in a different key using a capo, I think maybe it's Eb? I don't know. This is how Saves the Day plays it: (D) This song will become (A) The anthem of (E) Your under- (G) ground {repeat for next line, until: (A) If I flooded out your (E) house Do you (G) think you'd make it (A) out {repeat for next line. CHORUS: (G) And at (D) your funeral (A) I will sing (G) the (D) requiem (A) {repeat for rest of chorus. I *think* that's it. I'm not 100% certain about some parts, but ^that's^ the right key and the correct chords. If you wanna get fancy with theory, one guitar plays some seventh chords in the 2nd and 3rd verses while the other plays power chords, but yeah. As with all songs, there are many, *many* chord-master and tab versions online that are dead wrong. The easiest way to know if you're playing it correctly is to 1) tune your guitar, and 2) play these chords along to the record on your stereo.
Only other dude I've seen play that pink Hummingbird is that dude that collaborates with Machine Gun Kelly.. I think most of his music is Rap but he recently made a "Pop Punk" album sorta like MGK.. his name is Black Bear or something like that 🤷♂️
I’ll face the scrutiny that’s sure to come, but I’m actually enjoying this version better than the original. This is going to be the future, Tyler Childers style folky/country versions of classic emo and punk songs. They will all see their day!
i used to play drums for this band. i approve of the cover! nice sound
Whoa! Bryan, what do you do now?
Brian, your drumming has such a massive impact on me. Thanks for the amazing tunes!
thank you for creating beautiful music for us to enjoy!
Thank you for making music that was the soundtrack to my high school years!
yo thank you for being apart of my over romanticized relationship with music man, appreciate it
It's insane how epic this cover is. Truly epic!

Thanks for taking me back and showing the beauty of the song writing striped down
I'd love to see him do more Saves the Day.
Why doesn’t this have 800 million views?!
Because it's not Chris Conley
But he is pretty good.
One of my favorite songs ever
What a fantastic voice! I love this song!
This is an amazing cover. Well done.
So thankful this got recommended to me. I went down the rabbit hole and may have a new favorite artist. Covers and originals are both fantastic.
This is fucking insane. I grew up on emo but now Ruston is my favorite artist. Its like my two distinct worlds are clashing together.
nostalgia pura. Saludos desde Nicaragua
Beautiful job. The harmonica was an awesome touch.
From a self-declared emo og this shit gave me goosebumps. 👍🏻

I usually hate covers like this, but this is good
Nicee !
decent cover. the harmonica sets it apart from the many others
That was pretty good.
..but who _specially orders_ a Gibson Hummingbird in PINK?! 😬
Only other dude I've seen play that pink Hummingbird is that dude that collaborates with Machine Gun Kelly.. I think most of his music is Rap but he recently made a "Pop Punk" album sorta like MGK.. his name is Black Bear or something like that 🤷♂️
@@NoUseForAName0626 That explains it all!
