Great analysis. Incubus guitar parts with Band-Maid bass and drums - totally spot on. Saiki knocks it out of the park with this one. If the ladies of Band-Maid are not Besties, then no-one has bffs.

The first 3 descending notes from the second line of the chorus hit home very nicely. I bet Saiki loves singing this.

Thank you Mike Einzinger for composing this beauty and thank you Band-Maid for providing your musical excellence in this masterpiece of a song. This is a song with completely English lyrics that should get serious airplay on rock radio in the U.S. and Europe. Band Maid never disappoints. Miku's lyrics are so uplifting and (I feel) a tribute to her bandmates. Mohammed Ali once said, "If you don't understand the meaning of friendship, then you understand nothing." Truer words were never spoken. I am now not only a Maidiac, I'm a "Bestie"!!!!!

Thank you for the reaction. Yeah, it really sounded like Miku was expressing lyrically the intimacy and care the members of the band feel for each other - probably an overall rare thing among rock bands, esp to the degree of this band. I really loved this song, esp the vocals (their vocal/backing vocal melodies are often insanely beautiful together), sung well in English by Saiki and Miku. I'm sure the members felt thrilled to be working with such an accomplished and talented artist llike Mike Einziger. Hope they do another song together!

I love MISA's playing... and Akane's... and Kanami's... and the recording is good, too! Miku's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Saiki her bestie? But Saiki masterfully delivers her lyrics, as always. BTW - The volume of lyrics and nuanced melodies she's committed to memory over the years is simply mind-blowing!
Mikey did good at giving them his direction for the song, and probably helped with the English lyrics -- a good growth for Miku's craft. I don't understand why Kanami said she couldn't have come up with the main riff. Probably just her being super polite, as usual.
I like the groove and feel of the song. I was waiting for, "I don't give a f**k" at the end. But maybe with these particular "Bestie" lyrics, that wouldn't be such a good idea. Even though at first listen it felt on par with Start Over It will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you. Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? Hopefully Bestie helps with that! Thx, Band-Maid! And thanks, John!

I think what the issue is people that instead of saying "I don't prefer this" say "this is bad" or other non subjective criticism. It's one song, it's obviously very heartfelt lyrics and they just had some fun making a song with a new friend that respects them enough to want to work with them, fans should be Happy for them whether the song moves one individually or not as the band seems to be happy with it .

    A question for the Maidiacs:
Everywhere I’ve looked (thus far) BAND-MAID is always hyphenated and in ALL CAPS.
And on every official release I’ve seen from our MAIDS (so far) “from now on” is always presented in all lower case lettering.
Is there a reason or backstory for these details?
    - BAND-MAID newbie as of January 13, 2024.
ps - I like it in the pigeonhole! Po!

The MISA Akane show, they bring something totally different to this song. Saiki showing that she's a beast with her vocals and Miku adding all the harmonizes and vocal embellishments along with such great lyrics. Kanami, as usual, displays a brilliant restrained performance. An overall great Band-Maid song.

Theory: Miku wrote this for Saiki. "I remember a lot of things since I met you that day, and all of the memories won’t go away" and then the bridge with "I think I'm glad I met you now" and "So, let’s face ups and downs together. Years from now I’ll still be doing this with you."
    It's very sweet.

Gidday JR, one of the many things I adore about B-M is that they have always continued to be BAND-MAID doing BAND -MAID things, refusing to recycle needlessly and continuously challenging themselves and us in the process, when your livelihood depends on your musical popularity that's takes courage. Like a number of B-M songs this tune didn't grab me right away but as I learnt with eg Black Hole, Memorable, Influencer the more you listen to a B-M song the more you get and the same applies here to what is a gorgeous tune. Cheers 👍🍻

Exactly! An Incubus song and classic Mike sound with Band-Maid overlayed over it. I was totally expecting Brandon Boyd to sing, but then it was Saiki instead, BUT SINGING BRANDON BOYD STYLE! I was like 🤯. As a huge Incubus AND Band-Maid fan (about equally tbh) this to me feels like Band-Maid and Incubus are brother and sister sounds. They go together like glove and hand, like peanut butter and jelly, like Swiss cheese and mushrooms, like maple syrup and pancakes. They were made for each other.

People have to realize that this is a one-off creative adventure they wanted to do with an American artist. It would be a different story if they did a whole album like this. I doubt if this will actually be on the new album. Listen to it and if you like it, that's cool... if you don't like it, that's cool too. This is a way to expand their fan base. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another stand-alone single with The Warning released close to their concert together. Thanks to Ohrenje for the lyric video but remember to go listen to Band-Maid's official release.
