In this video I start by making a 150-layer twist damascus billet from 1084 and 15N20 steel. The blade is a layered construction of twist damascus outer cladding with a 1084 core. The guard and end cap are both twist damascus steel. I used a buffalo horn for the handle, and threaded the end of the tang for a ¼-20 silver nickel spiked tang nut.

What they call Damascus these days is just pattern welded steel. Actual Damascus was made from a crucible furnace the pattern came from the low carbon and high carbon from hammering it and folding it in the different carbon contents in the steel forming bands

I'm getting sick of seeing damascus, Kyle Royer does good damascus. Most of the Damascus designs are unappealing to my eye especially from this Viking Challenge, we need something different I'm sick of that serpent shit too
