Have to thank you for your video, I rolled my track off of the back wheel. Did not, repeat, did want to follow your instructions as it looked too hard for a 79 year old guy by himself - but - after asking a couple of local mechanics, your advice seemed a whole lot better. Just got it done and willingly admit that it took me longer than you (classified time) but the skid steer is back up and running. Again, thanks

Good work! This happened to me as well. I rented a 325G to move brush and logs. Left side track fell off due to a log getting jammed in the track and while I was trying to make an aggressive turn.
Luckily, I had a helping hand to help me get it back on. I was out in the field with no equipment other than basic hand tools and a grease gun. We found a long thick log nearby to use as a pry bar 🤣. I had a process pretty much identical to yours except I ran the left side track to loosen tension after removing the grease zerk. For putting it back on, I had my buddy use the log to apply pressure to the track and get it onto the final drive and sprockets while I slowly moved it from inside. The whole thing took us 3 hours since we were both new to it and going slow to try and ensure we were doing it correctly. 😀
Good job getting that figured out. I think one of those things people might not think about when they’re considering a skid steer or similar equipment is that some maintenance tasks get to be too much for one person to handle. You better have options for help or be prepared to spend money on a service tech for situations like this that are bound to come up.
As miserable as it is at the time , being able to figure out and repair an issue like this is a rewarding experience...( It just makes ya feel good )

Just curious how long did the whole project take? For your first time ever dealing with a track issue, you seemed to make it look fairly simple to correct. This is one of those few times where having a door that opens inward pays off.
hated throwing chains on the bikes as a kid..and it looks like it does not get any easier when the big boy toys throw tracks! Great vid on showing the struggle! Looking forward to the next few!

Wow... now that was a heck of a thing lol. Nice job! Probably something someone that doesn't own a tracked skid steer would think about. Love how you show us these little bumps in the road and how you fix them. Really cool that your son was able to help and learn a few things as well. Go team WALL-E!
Definitely agree with you on not waiting till the sun is baking you the next day!!! I think you can effectively squeeze a lot of the grease out of the adjuster by just standing on the track, between the front idler and the drive sprocket, instead of needing to pull up on the track with the tractor. And the closer you can get to the drive sprocket, while standing on the track, the more slack you will create. You want to get the front idler pushed as far in as you can, that will give you the most slack to work with. Good persistence and working with your son, it will likely get "easier" each time you have to do it........ Of course with any luck it will be a little while before you need to .... Great video!! Hey Brock nice video. You may want to look into getting a 5 ft or 6 ft rail bar. Very heavy and durable with a long taper can aid in helping you with numerous things including track reinstall. Keep up the good work, my brother from another mother.
have 3-4, 1 inch thick rubber strips that are 10 Lx 2 w. stick them in starting from the last good rollers and drive forward a foot or two, go slow so the tensioner can compress the greaser inside and allow the track to jump back, you can back off the grease plug if it makes you more comfortable. this way you dont have to lift the bucket and avoid door issues.
with this issue in mind, you think wheels are better or tracks still worth it?
This is a great lesson in being tolerant and rigid! Theres an abundance of patience on the farm, love to see it

I have had my Kubota tracks come off a total of 9 times because I do forestry work in the hills. I've got it down to 30 minutes.
You get three one inch tubes you put on the track turn the machine on go forward then it on top of the roller you wedge it towards the roller wile going forward it will go on doing it that way helps you loosen the track to
Nice job! I was waiting for that fence post to whack you in the face at some point. Now imagine doing that at night in 110F heat on an M1 tank. At least there were 3 of us with a 2nd Lt occasionally helping but more often just giving poor suggestions.

Easiest way we have figured out is have the tracks off the ground and put something in the tracks and drive it back on

Acute turns over rocks is usually what makes a tracked machine throw a track. It happens when things start to get worn or loose. Happy Days :-)
Can I still use a stand behind skid steer if the track comes off?
Why do I hit myself in the head with a hammer? Because it feels so good when I stop. Fixing things ourselves is often like that. Not something we look forward to, but when it's all over we feel good. And another skill learned. Carry on, my friend!
After releasing pressure valve, why did you not just drive the machine forward collapsing the grease ram, then reverse till track is in alignment. Then refill with grease.
How many hours do you have on your machine? Typically new tracks stretch and need to be adjusted within the first few 100 hours. We just put a set of tracks on the Bobcat T650 and will probably need to tighten the tracks as they begin to break in.
Yeah, the manual said to check the track tension at 50 hours and I have 65 and had not done it yet
I think this happened because I was digging in a tight space and trying to turn with my track up against a dirt wall

Your front door has those red levers on the inside that are quick release to take it off.
The salesman told me not to use those unless I have to because when you pull those it’s hard to get the door back on
I don’t know if he knows what he’s talking about but that’s what he told me
Just use some small logs. Be back on in like 2 minutes.
You absolutely do not have to take the door off when you roll the bucket then you just go down with joy stick i have a door on mine I just did this

I love Tinker my stuff and working on stuff but sometimes it's just best to have the dealership come out and work on it and you watch them and you'll know how to do it next time without spending three to four hours working on it.
That's why John Deere has 24-hour service.. and you paid a lot for that product and they need to help you with that.
Great job!! I throw tracks a few times a year as I’m. in the woods a lot and turn against tree stumps and rocks. One hint I’ve learned is that once you’ve raised the machine and have the pressure released from the track cylinder, put a large rock or log under the middle of the track. Lower the machine slowly and this will push the track towards either end making it easer to pull/push back on. I also broke down and bought the way overpriced tool from Bobcat for relieving the pressure from the zerk. It has a socket fitting on one end and a 90 degree tube. You loosen the zerk and the grease flows through the tube. I use an empty water bottle to collect the grease. It makes for a less messy cleanup afterwards.
