I wish my dad was still alive, I could show him this video and he would say, ok, let's build one. He was super handy and loved working with wood. Thanks for a great video I hope to build one soon.
Thanks for watching! I hope you do build one! Build on!
i felt that so hard. mine passed away 2 years ago and my mother last year.
do it your self and honor his memory. trust me, he'll be there to watch. .... my dad and i loved motorcycles. same story. felt him wathchig the whole time
I'm still gonna build one with my Dad!
He passed back in 2019.
Whenever I'm working on something, he's always there to keep me motivated, to never quit when things get tough! 💪😭😂
Every project I work on is in his memory! 😊
I know I will never be as great of a man, or as knowledgeable, but my Father sure did give me a helluva work ethic!🎉😅
He always loved camping and he owned an old 70s green Superior RV.😂😂
My mother and I miss him very much, but we survive pretty good, allthings considered!
Anyways.... Awesome build and will be using some of these techniques in my own future build!
Thanks much! 👍
Best thing that's ever happened to be... At least outside of having children. Thanks Jay!
One of the things I appreciate most in all of your videos is the Red Wings flags always proudly hanging in the background. LGRW!!!!
GO WINGS! Thanks for watching!
Love watching people build things like this. Great job. When I have the space I’ll build one myself. I personally prefer a trailer frame with a wishbone to the hitch and I think I’ll try to use as little timber as possible. Going with Fibreglass and carbon fibre wherever possible. Quick, strong, light and waterproof.
Sounds great! Thanks for watching and BUILD ON!
Wow that is absolutely amazing! Wonderful job. Me and my pops just started my build this year. These kinds of videos are so exciting! 👍

I'm totally new to any type of "from scratch" construction. I fixed some bathroom walls in my old house that rotted, but otherwise nothing. I see a LOT of great pointers that I can use. I bought the trailer for $800, it was a tear drop that was rotted. Tore it down to the trailer. I have SO many questions because I get a LOT of advice, but all from people whom have never built one. Beyond that, I don't know tools so forgive my ignorance. I see you did the inside FIRST, then outside when adding the roof/ceiling. I would appreciate any/all feedback you could give! :)
This looks EXACTLY like the shape of mine! :). I do not have extra cash to spare, so I'm going as economical as I can, but still want it to be
free of leaks.
1) What is the gun with the hose attached and what is in it? Is that a nail gun or some type of adhesive gun?
2) Did you undercoat the plywood underneath with anything?
I have a complete build playlist of this exact camper here on RUclips. It's several videos but I explained everything. You will find a link to that playlist below. I use marine grade or exterior grade plywood so I don't coat the underside. If you want to do that, I recommend a quality exterior house paint. The bottom only sees water when it rains while traveling. The nail gun I use is just a cheap, Harbor Freight pneumatic nail/staple gun combo. I use 3/4 inch crown staples in the gun. I recommend you join DIY Teardrop Campers Community on Facebook (my group) There are alot of helpful members in that group. You can send me a Private message on Facebook you have any more questions Thanks for watching and BUILD ON!

Great vid thanks for sharing. What was the final tare weight of the trailer?
Thanks for watching! It came in at 1080 lbs empty.
Really nice , whats budget do you actually need for a teardroo build like that ?
The cost was around $6k. Sorry for the delay in my response and thanks for watching!Build on!
So cool. Some questions if you’re cool with it:
1. What’s the white material (and thickness) you used to cover the sides.
2 And what kind of adhesive did you use to adhere it to the plywood?
3. Did you use marine grade plywood?
The skin is called filon. No glue, I floated it. The trim, doors, windows and anything else secured to, or going through the camper is enough to secure it. I used exterior grade plywood. Thanks for watching! Build on!
@@DIYTearDropJay Fantastic. Thanks for sharing the protips. Very glad I found your channel!
@@RyanWattersRyanWatters I'm glad you did as well. The skin is 1/8" thick by the way. If you have any other questions, just ask.
Amigo, coloca as medidas. Excelente trabalho. Mas ensina a fazer mostrando as medidas. Abraços
tinha 5 pés de largura e 8 pés de comprimento. você pode assistir a construção completa aqui. obrigado por assistir! saúde!

I own a sign shop. We NEVER use spray on graphics. That "sticker" should be wrap vinyl meaming air egress rear psa.
You'll have bubbles the minute it his sun.
I saw it a year after it was built and it spent that year in Texas. I saw it in Arkansas and the decals were fine. That said, this camper was built for a homeless Texas woman and I seriously doubt she cares if the decals get bubbles in them. She received this camper for FREE. The decals were her choice. I appreciate your insight and thank you for watching!
What did you use on the exterior to cover the wood?
It is Filon Fiberglass sheeting. I buy it at Bontragers RV Surplus in White Pigeon Michigan but they don't ship it. It is available on recpro.com but it isn't cheap. Thanks for watching
What is the white material you used for the outside?
It's called Filon. Thanks for watching
You did nothing to seal the plywood before you attached it to the frame?
It's exterior grade plywood and I did seal the edges with polyurethane. Thanks for watching
I was looking through the comments I was wondering how much money did the material cost?
It cost around $5k. The materials and labor were donated and this camper was given to a homeless woman. Thanks for watching! Build on!
What is the avg weight on a build like this? I have a weight limit
It weighed in at 1080 lbs. Thanks for watching!
Čau kámo super karavan budu také dělat podle tebe
Do you have the plans?
No but if you watch the donatuon build playlist, it is a step by step how to series of this exact camper. Thanks for watching
Like your vid...
But grinding so close to the car in the beginning 😳
It's a car I paid $400 for. Just a beater with a heater. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYTearDropJay beater with a heater. That made me chuckle 😆
@@anotherperson6934 just stating the truth. Thanks for watching!
Que precio lo darias?
I gave this to a homeless woman for free. Thanks for watching!
So your feet and head have to be under shelves to sleep? You would have a lot more room in a van
No, they don't have to. It's up to you if you design it that way. A van is bigger so yeah, you will definitely have more room, I think that goes without saying and is pretty obvious. Thanks for watching
what kind of ketchup you usin'?
Ketchup? No ketchup...lol
@@DIYTearDropJay I’m joking about your glue bottle
@@robertbattle6179 haha! It was titebond 3. Definitely not good for your digestive system.🤣 Thanks for watching.
@@DIYTearDropJay enjoyed your video. Just picked up my trailer yesterday to start our project. Thanks for documenting yours
@@robertbattle6179 thanks! BUILD ON! I have the entire build of that camper uploaded if you want to see how it all came together. Check out the donation build Playlist
