@@shortthestrike but what if you already had 10 shares of that stock before selling them. When buying them for lower. Will it count as a short then.Or just as a buy?
On TWS here, it will simply reduce the number of your shares. I'm currently hunting around trying to see if there's a way to open a separate short position next to a long position in TWS but I can't find it. (other platforms like etrade and TD refer to this as "boxing" a position to hedge). Please let me know if anyone knows how to do this in TWS or on IB in general.
Great video very helpful thank you. Quick question what will be the process of setting a stop loss. In your example, if I want to limit my losses to $7.58 what do I do?
@@shortthestrike Can you make a video on how to place stop-loss orders for short and long positions? Also one showing how to find resistance and support levels using the charts in TWS. Great videos, thanks!
Hello, just watched your video, excellent. I am new to Interactive broker. The app is very different! What kind of app or browser do you use? The one you demonstrated in this video? Thanks.
Thanks man, I couldn't find enough tutorials for the IBKR interface so this is a perfect tutorial for me. Can you also do a tutorial for future trading in IBKR?
Could you explain fees paid on borrowed stocks? And how to calculate actual returns and break even prices? In example you did not earn a penny on a stock, you lost money if we include transaction fees and borrowed stock fees (ok, you sold and bought back the same day...)
hi just a quick question, if i short something on ibkr how long do i have to pay it back? what if the amount is over my balance then what happens thanks
Where can I see how much I was charged by the Interactive Brokers for Shorting a stock? Such as Interest, etc or the cost of each day that I hold a shorting position?
I want to avoid margin interest due to religious reasons so I want to short a stock with 100% of my own money So can I use 100% of my own money to short a stock on a margin account and avoid the interest amount?
When you used the hot key to short the stock with MKT order and checked the instantaneous execution it showed another confirmation window, this shouldn't happen. Am I right!
What are the minimum requirements for a margin account? I have a cash account but I want to able to short stocks (not with leverage or anything) My portfolio value is around 10k so wondering if it's possible for a small fish to short stocks on this platform?

You’ll only ever be able to short in a margin account

good tutorial, but IB really needs to allow HTB hard to borrow stocks. Pretty sad that we have to use another broker to allow this.
