As a blind person with a sense of humour, I adore Tof's spot on jokes. My work colleagues over the last 14 years have had to put up with similar jokes from me, because I tend to find the best way to make people relax about a disability, is to let them know you aren't hung up about it. My #1 joke has to be during presentations in work, when they dim the lights and turn on the computer screen. Guaranteed, someone will ask "Can everyone see the screen?" which is my queue to say, "I can't." Always gets a laugh

I'm a kid and my illness makes it so I can't walk well due to pain. Of course I'm a kid, when o first heard it I was scared and depressed but my friend decided to joke about it. My friends point at stuff like wheelchair ramps and say "Look! You will be able to come here in the future!" Or I say something like "Imma run now" and they'll just say something gasp and say something like "You can run?! It's a miracle!" But of course I love them because they help me walk when I need some assistance
I swear I love how Avatar can make jokes about Toph being blind without any of them being offensive in any way. It’s absolutely beautiful that the writing team could do that.
It's 100 percent true that Team Avatar usually forget that Toph is blind because mostly Toph never let them realise she is blind!!she does most of the thing by herself
Its great they do forget because it means they think she's completely able to do anything. So they're suprised when she has trouble doing something. One of the great characters ever made.

Toph doesn't want to overstate her condition to be treated differently, yet she also doesn't trivialize it and sometimes needs to emphasize when necessary. Overall, she's a perfect representation that disability doesn't make someone less special nor to be neglected.
Honestly, it's cause Toph is so reliable, can do a bunch of stuff, and so much more that it makes you forget she's blind. Even we, the audience, forget that she's blind sometimes, only person that actually remembers is Azula, thats why she can lie to Toph more easily, cause she's using colors in her lie, even Toph forgot she was blind then probably.
People often forget that Toph is blind because she is very independent despite her disability. Not to mention that Toph even plays with her own disability.
I actually love the whole “sorry we keep forgetting” thing bc it shows how capable she is despite her disability, to the point they forget she has it. It doesn’t define her, but what does is her being the best earth bender in the world. The representation of disability in this show is just 🥹
Tbh most of the time its just Toph making fun of herself. That's one of the things that make her such a great character, she takes the hand she's been dealt in stride.❤️

I think they always forgot she was blind because how amazing she could see with the earth. I loved how they illustrated it in as many ways as possible
She's functionally only legally blind, and like anyone with a disability when she has access to her accommodations she can do everything she needs to.
