Duuuuuude. Love the concept for this video as I two-bag it. But I go about it a little differently. Under the seat in front of me, I want the smallest bag possible that accommodates my tech, my other essentials I don't want gate-checked and all my in flight needs. Why small as possible? To preserve foot room as I am tall, and to meet United personal item restrictions as I live in an United hub city. So something in the range of 17x10x8. Here I currently use the Bullet DC16. It serves as my day pack at my destination. My other bag is a Briggs & Riley baseline rollaboard. It's for clothes and shoes - things I don't mind having gate-checked if the plane is out of bin space. The convenience of a rollarboard cannot be overstated. I can't imagine strapping into a big travel backpack AND carrying a big travel duffel too. To those who do, all I can say is God bless!

Hey JB. I’m in the same camp as ParkerBinion. I need the roller bag option. I just recently purchased a Monos carryon roller hardshell. Paired that with my 26L REI day bag on a recent trip to Utah. Also snuck in my new Alpaka Go Sling Mini V2. Awesome combination! Next time hope to have a GR2 26L instead. Can you fit in a review of your pick of roller bags if you have one?

@@robinlowery4689 Since I am generally against rolling bags and I only use one rolling bag for work...a massive LuggageWorks airline tank. That wouldn't be a very good review. So I'd have to work on the concept a bit

I’d probably vote for the coyote evergoods combo in this scenario. If it were me, I’d pack like I do for backpacking trips I travel to with a big 60ishL black hole duffel with backpack straps that I put my backpack and other stuff into and check it, then keep a sling for smaller stuff that I keep with me. Good luck on the trip and fun video idea!

Complete wildcard here but I would take the CTB26 and a kit bag. 100% on the water bottle pockets and cant stop using them since I got a CHZ26. For flying the Kit bag would work better should it have to go under a seat since much more pliable if not fully stuffed than a TD35. Roadtrip I would be Team Coyote but when flying a kitbag is just awesome and hard to beat

@brycegerritsen7230 you know, funny enough I went and bought the Dex 30. The dex 30 has been my edc for about 2 month now. If there's something I dislike, it's the lack of back padding, but that's understandable as the bag is a 2 in 1. Aside from that I love it. For context, I'm a heavy equipment operator, and I go to the gym and Jiu-Jitsu after work, therefore I don't mind the "bulky boxy look". I carry a first aid kit, dop kit, wrestling shoes, spair change of training clothes, eating utensils, snacks, a protein bottle and my lpad . I do use it mainly in backpack mode. My favorite had to be all the compartments and the adequate amount of volume they have. I hope this helps

The Alpha 31 is easily my favorite backpack. HOWEVER, you own or did own a ULTRA Bullet and a ULTRA Kit Bag. The Ultra Kit Bag paired with either a ULTRA Bullet or the ULA Dragonfly would be my choice and either combo is hard to beat. That's my go-to 2 bag set-up. The Dragonfly beats out the Bullet IMO because of its amazing water bottle pockets, capacity, weight, and comfort.

Like you I am into the Evergoods Ecosystem. I love my CTB26 but because I use a CPAP machine it's not enough. I also carry my tech with me regularly, so the CAP2L goes with me. If I’m driving, I’ll take a duffle (I haven’t gotten the TD35L yet). If I’m flying, I’m taking a roll away. In the rollaway, I’ll pack my PLC20.

Airport 2 bagging, I would definitely go with a spinner and backpack unless my destination was more remote where a roller wasn't logical. But then again, I would probably 1 bag and a sling in that situation.

FWIW, I flew first class on Delta last week (domestic US) and decided to take my newly purchased Evergoods CTB26 as my personal item instead of my Goruck GR2 26L. The CTB26 was not 100% fully stuffed - the laptop compartment had a Microsoft Surface Pro 6, the main compartment was pretty full, and the front compartments had some stuff in them. But there was plenty of room to put more in the front pockets. I was not able to fully put the CTB26 under the seat in front of me. Fortunately, I was able to make it work well enough that the flight attendants didn't say anything, but I was definitely surprised and a bit disappointed because I previously flew with my GR2 and had no trouble fitting it under the seat in front of me and I'm positive I had more stuff in it (notably 2 jackets and rain pants instead of just 1 jacket). If the CTB26 isn't going to be too full, it would certainly be a great choice as I'm a fan of the quick access pockets and overall design (as well as the Coyote color - it is a GREAT color in person), but I'm probably not going to use it again as my personal item on future trips because I don't want to risk being forced to check it or my overhead bin bag. I'm seriously considering getting a Dyneema GR2 and sending it off to SCARS for a few mods to make it a little more travel friendly for me (the webbing loops option would give me a great way to attach it to the handle of my roller bag using F-Stop Gatekeeper straps). I have the XPAC GR2 26L and love the material, but those Aquaguard zippers are way too stiff.

      I was looking at a ctb26.
My on board bags have been the aer CPP or evergoods cpl24.
My tech stuff and a set of clothes if they lose my checked bag.
I guess it's what you guys refer to as international because arriving with 2 bags for a flight isn't going to ... Fly...
You either have something that can fit underneath the seat and have a limited risk of it being checked. Or have an overhead size bag and all bets are off.
Unless you want to go stand in line at the gate for an hour...

Yeah, I was pretty surprised both when I was packing for the trip and even more so when I got on the plane (and to be more clear, it was a domestic flight). I just got a new with tags 26L GR2 in dyneema for a good price on eBay ($465). The asking price was below MSRP, but he had offers enabled, so why not try to do even better 😀. It’s probably going to go to SCARS to get webbing loops added.
