Just found your video. I live on Capitol Hill. You walked by my apartment building. Surprised you walked all of the way to Trader Joes! Typical Seattle winter. Most people in Seattle do not use umbrellas, just a light jacket with a hood. Looking forward to your next video!
I live in the Capitol Hill area and love watching the two of you discover and enjoy Seattle. I first came here 20 years ago and was very pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty around the city, the food choices, so many things to do and the very positive vibe with people, particularly in the service industry. Now I tend to take it for granted but thank you for showing it through your fresh eyes. I'll be in HNL soon, which is my favorite go-to for our lack of Seattle sun in the winter!
I live in the Seattle area and I have been enjoying watching you explore and eat around Seattle. Everything you have been eating looks delicious and just watching you is making me gain weight. Guess I just need to work extra hard this weekend.
Always interesting to see other peeps take on my town. I live in japantown but the neighborhoods are amazingly diverse. Cap hill is 10 mins walk from my place up hill. Sigh.
I read somewhere that Seattle has the most ice cream eaters, not just in the summer. Wild, huh? I was cold right along with you, Amanda! And so jealous you both got to eat at two popular eateries; living vicariously through you, as usual. I never knew there was a Starbucks roastery; looks like you got to have your almondine croissant, Italian style, yum. When I lived downtown, the bus in the city would be free. But I'd usually walk to and from my temp job up in Capitol Hill for the view. OMG, the hill! Almost everything there now wasn't there before (1990s), lots of new spots. Yeah, it pretty much rains all the time most of the year. The worst for me was carrying groceries or toting a gift and trying not to let it get wet. Oh wait, it was standing in the rain during my son's soccer matches. One time, there was a monsoon at West Seattle, LOL. Can't wait for the next vlog!
Seattle is my hometown, but I live in Honolulu. Salt n' Straw is PDX-based; next time try Seattle's own Molly Moon (three blocks away) - their coffee ice cream is tops and in the fall they usually have roasted peaches ice cream. Also, on your next trip try some Ethiopian food; Seattle welcomed many refugees from Ethiopia and Somalia back in the 80s and you'll find great Ethiopian fare in the Central District. And, since you're big on Sbux there's a newer shop inside the graduate library at the University of Washington (upstairs is the famous Hogwarts-like study area); you can get there by light rail.
Hey, Baristas from the Roastery! So glad y’all enjoyed! Our Almond Cornetti has an Almond Marzipan in the inside!! The whiskey barrel aged cold brew is great! Our cold brew malt has our Ethiopia Cold Brew though haha.
As usual another awesome foodie adventure! Loving the Seattle content, and I'm taking notes on what to visit if I ever go there again. Hope you guys have waterproof clothing with you! The cold is one thing, but you gotta stay dry. Not everywhere has the lovely warm sprinkle rain that Hawaii has!
Fun video but just a couple of notes for the future... Xi’an Noodles features biang biang noodles from Xi’an (the capital of China’s Shaanxi province), so it's considered Shaanxi cuisine not Sichuan cuisine. But the flavor profiles can be somewhat similar. Good cannolis are best filled as ordered. Otherwise they get soggy and lose their crackly crispness. Looking forward to seeing what other Seattle spots you end up checking out.
Love your food & travel reviews especially as a couple! You guys make things fun. Never been to Seattle but it’s on the list. Do you guys travel to the mainland often? Like to see you explore NYC!
That Trader Joe's Green Goddess spice is excellent to give a crust over layers of powdered garlic, ginger and turmeric in equal parts as a rib on fish or chicken. I deglaze with the TJ Miso Broth., fresh lemon juice and yummy yummy. I use to sell to the original TJ near L.A. fifty years ago. It is still my favorite store.
We visit Washington twice a year, my daughter lives in Olympia area and we avoid Seattle, lol. I’ll go if we’re watching a Mariners or Seahawks game or if we take someone in our party who’s never been there. In Pike’s Place Market, you have to get the smoke salmon, you’ll find it in one of the fish vendors. I’m also a fan of “Thirteen Coins” restaurant. They have the deep fried oysters, I’ve been to the one in Seattle and SeaTac. As for hotels, stay at Silver Cloud Inn, we stay at the one right across the Stadium or our favorite is in Mukulteo, they have Diamond Knot Brewery ther also, there’s a ferry there that takes you to Widbey Island. Also, go to Everette and eat at Anthony’s, they have the best and award winning chowder. If you like collectibles, go to Funko Pop main headquarters. And lastly if you like to gamble, Tulalip Hotel and Casino in Marysville, awesome restaurants
Remember when in Seattle there are many shopping districts thar aren't in downtown...Ballard...Queen Anne...Capiol Hill..West Seattle...Freemont and many many others
This weeks it's gonna be in the 20s even us locals are struggling with this icy weather. Love your videos Yes it would be nice to check the Din Tai Fung Seattle (robot services), Crab pot seafood Seattle, Mizuki Buffet, Feast in Renton, to name a few good food places
That sweet chili sauce is served at EVERY Asian place in Seattle it seems. Filipino food, Chinese food, Thai food...always that sweet chili sauce as an option. And you guys totally look like locals so I'm not shocked no one asked you where you're from.
This is not meant to be a criticism, but as a Seattle local, and after watching a lot of "visiting Seattle" videos, I kind of wish there were local guides to help people find more of our out of the way places, the kind of places that are hard to find out about, despite your best research. Your spots are good choices though. But I tend to see tourists going to the same places. I guess if you're staying downtown, it can be a little bit of a trip to find your way to Ballard Avenue, Georgetown, or even the Chinatown International district. But maybe you will.
Agreed 100%. There are waaaaaay more options than just Pike Place, Starbucks and Downtown Seattle. Get out and explore! Ballard, Fremont, University District, Rainier Beach, West Seattle, Northgate, International District, Sodo, Queen Anne, South Lake Union. There are way better options than Starbucks to get cheaper and better coffee (Seattle has 2 cat cafeés. One on Capitol Hill and one in Wallingford) Support local businesses that have suffered during/after the pandemic. We continue to lose local favorite shops, bars and hang-outs because of low sales and foot traffic. Research, research, research. Support local, please. Spread the word :) Happy travels.
Yeah. walking from downtown to Capital Hill is a CLIMB! I'm impressed you guys did that. I had a friend who was a bike messenger in Seattle and his thighs got super jacked. lol. I used to live on Capitol Hill, and I would always take the bus from downtown because I'm super weak sauce. And OH MY GOD, I have had that Xi'an restaurant on my "want to go to" list for a long time! (It is not Szechuan style, btw. It is Shaanxi style. But no worries since those two provinces are right next to each other.) As you might recall I lived in Xi'an for a long time, and I really miss the food. Biang Biang Noodles is my jam!
Seattle was a great city but man me and my girl went during the summer and it was brutal. Was expecting cool weather but it was consistently 90+ degrees for the whole week we stayed there. The temperature + all the up hill walking + no AC in buildings was rough. Would love to come back in the spring or fall season. If you guys have time check out downtown bellevue! About 15-20 min. East of Seattle. The downtown park is dope and there’s a big shopping mall next to it.
Seattle is built on a large hill that's why they have the underground city tour. Lots of the old buildings the first floor is under ground and they had to build the city up one level because of flooding. Because of this flooding the toilets would back up hill.
Actually built on 4 hills. Except they levelled one hill to create the Denny Regrade area, which is north of Olive Street. All of that dirt was moved down to the area south of Dearborn Street and where the stadiums are located.
Braddah good video! If y’all want Hawaiian food before you go. Ohana in belltown 1st Ave is a good spot and they serve sushi. Dicks burgers is a must in Seattle.
Next time come when there’s sporting events. All the Food kiosks and beer at T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field is bomb, along with the places in SODO and the I.D. You may also wanna go to the major casinos at Tulalip and EQC! Also Portland is 2.5 hour drive south and they have awesome foodie places too, along with mass transit.
If they ever open a Trader Joe's in Hawaii I wouldn't know what to bring when visiting.😁 And the TJ's near my home knows when I shop the cashier says "are you going to Hawaii?" They know!!🤣 Your walks are not canceling out your calories...you'd need to walk 20 miles/day!😁
Very true that the people in Seattle are friendly. Here's an example of how friendly they are. I worked in San Francisco for over 25 years. In all that time of riding in the elevator with fellow employees, not one greeting from anyone unless it was someone I knew personally. Whenever I was in our Seattle branch office, I would get greeting in the elevators from the Seattle employees all the time. Our Salt Lake and Portland branches were just like Seattle, friendly people. Mahalo for this video, it brought back many good memories of the food and people in Seattle.
18:04 I used to live in Washington state before moving to California when I was little. It's not just Seattle - everyone in the state is absurdly nice. Obviously that's a generalization n everywhere has it's nice people, but the difference in attitude is very noticeable when you visit.
There are two (maybe more, actually)... the roastery & reserve in Capitol Hill and the bakery & reserve in SODO (at the SBUX Headquarters). The SODO one is my favorite (but I live within walking distance of the Capitol Hill one). I don't even drink coffee, but I love watching them roast the beans... and the vibe is so cool!
make sure to try some Seattle teriyaki. Also, check out the Fremont neighborhood and Ballard. Lot of cafes and restaurants over there as well - a bit more down-to-earth.
It’s so cold here that I got goosebumps watching you eat the ice cream! The strawberry balsamic with black pepper one sounded interesting. Mahalo for another great video! Now for some hot soup. . . .
Starbucks started in Seattle, just fyi. It's not the actual temp that makes it cold, it's the rainfall, the dampness. We moved to a dryer climate in Nevada.
Brrrr, wet and cold! Dedication! Food and drinks looked amazing! Live how clean the streets looked as well as the hospitality you received! Cant wait to see your omiyage from Seattle video!😉😉💕🙏🏽👍🏿
The Roastery isn't technically Capitol Hill, and it does get steeper as you go up Pike Street. You guys need to head to the International District and eat at the OG Chinese and Japanese restaurants.
I would definitely call it Capitol Hill (I live right nearby)... Pike is considered the dividing line between CH and First Hill... and it's east of I-5... what neighborhood would you consider it?
@@EricaGamet That's what the city determined the dividing line years ago. If the freeway wasn't there it would still be part of downtown, which my father always complained about. He said the freeway cut right through a great area of homes and businesses. I consider Belmont to be the western border of Capitol Hill.
Holy Canoli! Italian Taco?! I love it. Starbucks Reserve Roastery…you guys are so awesome. I love how much fun you guys have traveling and spending time with each other. Keep having the fun Foodie Ohana and thanks for taking us along. 🤙🏽🌴☕️☔️
Don’t you love the Food Safety rating faces on the doors of restaurants? Did you notice that? We were so used to that while living in WA, it’s odd to see restaurants without them! Enjoy Seattle! Love your channel!
Sooo cold!!! Perfect dinner with the noodles. Might have saved ice cream for another time, but I know you had limited time to try things. So many places to try. If you have thawed out... are you going to try Ululani Shave Ice in Kapahulu? They just opened a few weeks ago I think. Oh forgot to mention...next time you go to TJs buy one of their reusable bags to prevent the bag from getting wet and you don't have to worry about the bag getting wet or breaking
My son is a manager at Starbucks Roastery and lIves in the condo right behind the Roastery, so we are very familiar with the Capitol Hill and the food in the area. We love the food there.
What fun day! It was fun t I see you experience all these places I've been to also. Even sat at that same table at Starbucks! Soak it all in. But try not to get soggy! 😂
My husband gigs in Seattle every few months and he says it's bad around 3rd Ave. and Pike, but then it's always bad down there. You can see the homeless camps up the sides of I-5.
Just found your video. I live on Capitol Hill. You walked by my apartment building. Surprised you walked all of the way to Trader Joes! Typical Seattle winter. Most people in Seattle do not use umbrellas, just a light jacket with a hood. Looking forward to your next video!

Love the video. We are loving the Seattle tour!!!
Stay away from 3rd and 4th Pike St. lived here 39 years

Welcome to Seattle! Let me know if you need more local food suggestions :)
Mahalo!
Hey, Baristas from the Roastery! So glad y’all enjoyed!
Our Almond Cornetti has an Almond Marzipan in the inside!!
The whiskey barrel aged cold brew is great! Our cold brew malt has our Ethiopia Cold Brew though haha.
Mahalo for such awesome hospitality and craft! We enjoyed everything! 🤙
Great vlog! I hope you're enjoying Seattle!

This is awesome! Loving this new content of your adventures. Can't wait to see what else you have in store.
Stay tuned! 🤙
We love that you love our great city of Seattle ❤
That whiskey barrel coffee is so ono! I had a different drink there with those beans, and OMG heaven!
So good! 🤤

Nyc is on our list! Mahalo!
Capitol Hills is definitely the spot for young people. I love going to Life on Mars.
Uwajimaya is a must
Welcome to Canada guys great job.
You have to go to the Ballard Locks in Ballard, Washington.
Enjoy guys! I've yet to visit Washington State...though it heard great things especially about Seattle 😊
It's a blast! 🤙

The original Starbucks was founded in Seattle,Washington.
♥️♥️Seattle looks like fun👍👍😎 thank you Amanda & Felix, for these cool vids♥️💕
Mahalo for watching!
Remember when in Seattle there are many shopping districts thar aren't in downtown...Ballard...Queen Anne...Capiol Hill..West Seattle...Freemont and many many others
All the hills is why Seattle and surrounding areas shut down when it snows!
This weeks it's gonna be in the 20s even us locals are struggling with this icy weather. Love your videos

Interesting!
Should've tried Frankie & Jo's or Molly Moon's right by Salt & Straw
Molly moon was randomly closed the night we went 😣

Hiyah Larry J! My husband and I are heading to Seattle next week and would love some recommendations on some hole in the wall places if you have any!!
Agreed 100%.
There are waaaaaay more options than just Pike Place, Starbucks and Downtown Seattle.

Larry J, we will be visiting in September and would love to hear any recommendations you have for eating.
Check out Lao Ocean.
That heavy rain was really rare.
Great video guys! I’ll be visiting in two weeks I’m excited to see what’s next !
Stay tuned! Mahalo!
I don't recognize any of those places. We stay with family, so we go where they go. Those definitely look like yummy options. Thank you sharing.
Any time, Mahalo!
Hope you guys enjoy the Seattle area and I’m from Seattle
when i use to live in alaska, we would eat ice cream during cold winters LOL
Loved it! Thanks for sharing and I am now very hungry
Mahalo Henry!
I’m watching this on my way back to Oahu but I’m taking notes since Aimee promised to take me to the Roastery when I go back officially 😊
Definitely check out the Roastery! So much good pastry and drinks! 🤤
Enjoying your video so much.

I live just outside of Seattle in Lynnwood. You can stay at my place anytime & I’ll stay at yours in HI!
You guys this Seattle videos are so awesome please be safe and enjoy God Bless.
Mahalo Joe! So glad you’re enjoying the series so far!!

Aloha! If you guys are looking for more Seattle recs, lmk. I’m also from Hawaii and recently moved to Seattle!
Mahalo!
Salt and Straw!!!! FAV! miss it so much.
It was amazing!

Locals love trade Joe's!
I recommend Stateside restaurant next time you guys go ! 🤗right across from Starbucks reserve.
Awww shucks we missed it!!😱
No shortage of places to eat in Seattle.
Aloha 🌺🥰
👋
You two are so much fun to watch lol
Mahalo for saying that Alfred 🥰🙌🏼

It's the small things that make an impact! Awesome community! 👍
I’ve always told people that Seattle is a nicer, cleaner San Francisco lol with super fresh air!
Salt and straw is great 🍦 🍨 hope you guys enjoy the ice cream.
We enjoyed it a lot!! So yum🤤🙌🏼
Why did you not take a bus or the train to capital hill?
Salt and Straw is amazing but is a Portland-based company.
Go try Elanos yogurt by Pikes Place Market and Salty"s buffet!
Shucks just missed it!
welcome
18:04 I used to live in Washington state before moving to California when I was little. It's not just Seattle - everyone in the state is absurdly nice. Obviously that's a generalization n everywhere has it's nice people, but the difference in attitude is very noticeable when you visit.
Everyone's been awesome!
Yes it’s 🥶…It’s cold here too still Laughlin, Nevada right now 47* Windy
That sounds cold!
I didn't know Seattle had Starbucks Reserve. I'll definitely check it out during our summer Vaca☺️
It was cool to see the special drinks and the process!!
I've been to the Starbucks Reserve in Tokyo and thought the food was really impressive. This one looks good too!
The Starbucks roastery in Japan was great!!😍
Howz it guys! Fun content
Mahalo Chad!
Did you guys rent a car to get around Seattle?
I guess we forgot to tell you about the hills. And downtown Seattle. Hard to find parking so good you didn't rent a car.
At least we're getting a work out in 👍😬
make sure to try some Seattle teriyaki. Also, check out the Fremont neighborhood and Ballard. Lot of cafes and restaurants over there as well - a bit more down-to-earth.
Mahalo for the recs 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yes it’s Nice there
It’s so cold here that I got goosebumps watching you eat the ice cream! The strawberry balsamic with black pepper one sounded interesting. Mahalo for another great video! Now for some hot soup. . . .
It’s getting chilly here too 🥶
I thought the local term was "chicken skin".
You guys should check out Uwajimaya (huge Japanese store with food court) next to Chinatown and Top Pot donuts
We need a revisit!
Try the BEANFISH ...Lorelei will serve you this wonderful Japanese delight!
Aloha Amanda and Felix. Wow all of the food looked great. I love these travel videos of yours!
We're so glad you're enjoying them so far!
I went to the Starbucks Reserve in New York City.
How is it there?!
Croissants actually are Austrian. That’s the origins
Starbucks started in Seattle, just fyi. It's not the actual temp that makes it cold, it's the rainfall, the dampness. We moved to a dryer climate in Nevada.
We went to the original Starbucks last video!! It was awesome 🥹🙌🏼
Was that really a Sichuan place?
Some say it's Xian

Also, New York has one that's off the chain. I'm trying to do the one in Japan and in Italy 🇮🇹 #willtracelforcoffee
Italy for sure!
50 degrees is like summer in NYC!
Holy Canoli! Italian Taco?! I love it. Starbucks Reserve Roastery…you guys are so awesome. I love how much fun you guys have traveling and spending time with each other. Keep having the fun Foodie Ohana and thanks for taking us along. 🤙🏽🌴☕️☔️

Cute
What kind of Trader Joe’s stuff do Hawaiians like? I want to bring some on my next visit…
Anything! Lol snacks mainly! 🤤
Or do a Hawaiian food tour in the south area.
Kauai Family and Buddha Bruddah in the south end and visit Yuji Okamoto at Kona Kitchen in the north end.
My son is a manager at Starbucks Roastery and lIves in the condo right behind the Roastery, so we are very familiar with the Capitol Hill and the food in the area. We love the food there.

Haha still exciting and fun though!
PLEASE be careful…certain parts of Seattle can be very dangerous. I just got back a couple of weeks from there. Have an awesome vacay!
Mahalo for the warning!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
How is the homeless situation in Seattle and Capitol Hill area former CHOP district from a couple years ago?
My husband gigs in Seattle every few months and he says it's bad around 3rd Ave. and Pike, but then it's always bad down there. You can see the homeless camps up the sides of I-5.
Looks Ono
🤤
What do you get at Trader Joes for gifts?
Cookies, chips , and spices! 👍
Thank you
Gotta go Supreme Dumplings in Bellevue, broke da mouth! Best dumplings in Seattle. Better than DTF.
So lucky I have a Salt and Straw nearby. I have to limit myself cuz I'd go way too often 😅
We would too! So good!
Not Sichuan!. Xian
