The advice to order the new one as you clean the old one is completely underrated. Pro tip right there. Thank you!
As a random repair i needed to do today, I was surprised to see the same guy who I follow in the reloading world! Great video thanks again.
Great video!! Had the same problem with my master shower and watching your video helped learn how to replace the cartridge. ✌🏾
Opened this video & was like - "Is that Erik Cortina!? the shooting legend" !? Didnt know you had this channel. Awesome vid. Funny enough, I have also been starting to research Barndominiums.
Wow, Thanks a lot. That was very helpful.
I use CLR to clean the baffle out of my YHM rim fire suppressor. Also some guys use it to clean barrels. That stuff dissolves lots of deposits. It rinses out easily but back to the shower valve. The red ring is the anti scald device and like you said limits the amount of hot water that can also cause a cold shower if it's adjusted improperly. It's good protection for youngsters and also handicapped that can't get to the valve in case of a scalding situation.
Gotta keep the kids happy and encourage bathing! 👍😂
😉😁
Awesome! Thank you for sharing..👍🏾
Good video. Good information
Good job! Doing it now!🙌
Thanks, for the information...!!!
Good information. White vinegar works just as good if not better and it’s much cheaper than CLR and not caustic. Warming the vinegar slightly in the microwave before hand helps it work better.
Thanks, I think I have the same problem...now I have a fix. Glad for the problem at the end. Always learn more by mistakes.
Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vinegar is good alternative to CLR. Though CLR is best for calcium deposits.
You will have to wait much longer than 30 minutes though.
Wow Eric! Great video yet again!
Thank you.
Another thing to add to the Erik Cortina "skills test." Seriously--you can do EVERYTHING!!!
Thank you. Going to try this. I could not imagine why I didn’t have any water flow at all. At reassembly I like to test before putting the plate back to see if there are any leaks in the wall
Good job
Nice brother Erik
Thank you!
I use to be a gold plate tech. Always rinse chemicals off with water at least once before ever blowing them off with air. A chemical resistant apron, sleeve protectors, gloves and face shield are a must. I got one drop of tin lead solution in my eye about 30 years ago. Not any fun. I have never seen the inside control mechanism of a shower before. Thanks it was very interesting. Be safe my friend. Vaughn
Very good 😌
Machinist? I just happen to have several of those plastic containers you used that the new machine dies come in. Good helpful video, thanks.
This was very informative! QUESTION: I have a Growe type valve and it's temp is stuck at a nice warm setting but it will no longer adjust any temp, hot or cold! I assume this same cleaning procedure would fix this? I have another show using a basic delta valve which you swing either to the cold or hot side and it feels like gravel! Same cleaning / replacement procedure?
i love the tiles
I find the vision of you a battery tool to dismantle a plumbing fitting to be almost opposite to my own approach. Growing up during a time when power tools were dreadful expensive and battery ones non existent, I still view nowadays tradies with amazement as their most exercised muscle is their trigger finger. Had a young bloke some time ago borrow a 40oz knockameter from me, the tried to strangle it in use, failing. I corrected his grip, and he admitted he had never driven a nail over 2”, and then only at tech collage. Kind of reminded me of you showing Minnie how to swing a large possibly compo claim.
I was waiting for , Leroy The Plumber !
Nice milling machine work table.
I hope you know that some companies give a lifetime warranty on there products. I have kohler faucets and they have sent me numerous parts to repair my faucets for free. I still have a bonnet for my kitchen faucet i have had for 3 years. Although kohler has been bought out by another company, that company still honors kohler faucets. I`m sure your faucets are no cheap, you may want to check the warranty. Good luck!
Did you have to turn off the water main before working on the standing shower water?
Cool
Is this a Pfister? If so, what model is it? This is the one I've been looking for but can't find it. Thank you in advance!!!
Thanks Dad!
:)
What did you push to take that apart
Hi. I just replaced mine as well and it squeaks when its at a certain point. What do you sugguest?
Gee, that was like getting a Christmas present in March. Nice!!
Any idea when the shower waterproofing video will be out. I can not seem to find Kemperall at any of the local suppliers in San Antonio or Austin area.

Need help! I installed new rough in valve in my house and no now there's no hot water. What I did wrong? Probably hot and cold water mix in the valve. How can I fix it?
Nice to see high maintenance over engineered expensive garbage is not limited to one aspect of products....PS chuck that temp ring,...…..it prevents the hot water from opening all the way and flushing itself clean,...that's why it was hot only clogged or that's the anode from the hot water heater you are flushing out.
Whole house water filtration and softners pay for themselves 10 times over....
Hello everyone, My cartridge is fine and the clog is in the valve body itself. I tried back washing it hooking a hose up to the shower arm and running water through it but the clog is still there on the cold water side. This is somewhere inside the actual valve body not the cartridge.
Any remedy besides replacing the whole valve body?
No matter what chemicals you are using.. good to check the SDS/MSDS safety data sheet for potential hazards 😉👌🏼
And before blow drying something, rinse the chemical off first so you are not atomising it..
HELP!!! I cannot get the circular white discs under the two round screens back in.
Hello Erick i have a question which 2x4 is better yellow pine or the white wood
Depends the purpose. I prefer white wood because they are lighter, straighter, and they don’t splinter like yellow pine.
Texas Barndominiums is for a 2 story house and on the termites both 2x4 are the same or on that which one is better
4:18 Actually...CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover is non-toxic, water soluble and biodegradable.
Even better. I still wouldn’t drink it though. 😁
Toilet bowl cleaner (the acid kind, like Lysol) is cheaper than CLR and does just as good of a job of dissolving mineral deposits.
On the video the valve was connected backwards. You can tell as opening it a little is just cold water and opening it full is hot water. He opened it a little 8:05 and said no hot water.. All the way to the left is full hot and all the way to the right is cold.
Part number for that cartridge?
Who pays for your service call, the wife or the daughter, make sure u charge tax too, LOL.
Holy shit. That's got to be some kind of record. 20 seconds in to the video for the first "however".
Lmao
Need your help I have no Pressure on the shower very little water comes out what can I do???
Cleaning out the subassembly of the cartridge with mentioned CLR, vinegar or just plain water, drying out the valve to remove any sediment resting in there. Use a little plumbers grease on the rubber gaskets of the cartridge, then reinsert the cartridge.
Also, newer kits are water conserving, so you might get less GPM compared to older models.
1:25 😏 come on, you know you laughed
What if you still don't have hot water
Eric, you know you would have given Manny a hard time about the "do as I say, not as I do", and the "I'm feeling lucky" thing you did. : )
😂
Amateur Tip; I always take a video as I take anything apart so I know how to put it back together after. And money saving health tip; Use vinegar instead of CLR or other harsh chemicals.
Do you pour your CLR back into the original container? We don't want to waste anything. Plomero!!!😉😉😉
I never took you for an herbal essences kind of guy
I'm not... lol
WHAT "BRAND" IS THAT SHOWER VALVE?!....
Pfister. They offer lifetime warranty to original owners of. So this would be replaced for free.
Or video tape it so you can go back
I think u r off cos on the orange stop. Check the beginning of this video and u see u r off. Good luck.
Why didn't you just adjust the hot water to begin with? Then you wouldn't have to buy a new valve
Agreed. But I like that he suggested cleaning out the sediment which can cause issues including blocking water passing through. But adjusting the hot water flow at the front is definitely a quick fix. The cartridge probably didn't need replacement, but with lifetime warranty, go for it!
Daughter can take cold showers..😂
She did, for a long time. 😂
@@TexasBarndominiums I called moen after seeing they wanted $30 at retail for a sink cartridge. One I had started to break down, and wasn't clogged with mineral buildup. Anyhow, they shipped me a new one for free.
Great Dad's don't let their daughters take cold showers
....COVER THE FLOOR DRAIN, SO THAT "MURPHY'S LAW" CANNOT INTERVENE!!!....
throw it in the trash and install a Moen Shower Valve,,,,,,,life is too short,,,
