I’m honestly curious about just why the Mon Cala and Quarren were so dedicated to ship building. Gonna hazard a guess and say it’s because they were already uniquely suited to travel in 3 dimensions
Following the Battle of Mon Cala, many of the city buildings were converted to ships for escape. Following their occupation, they probably got dedicated to escaping their ensalvement. Once the war was over, Mon Cala probably started benefitting from being the main producer of warships in the galaxy and got better
@@Zombotron5678 yeah its clear Mon Cala became the galaxy's default warship builder as all the others were too politically tainted by the empire to be acceptable.
I like that the MC95 (as well as the MC75 and MC85) got so many variants, even if at random. It really fits with the lore that they’re all so unique, despite that the MC80 really only uses the Home One and Liberty versions, and the MC90 only kinda having 2 versions, but not really. Sure not all of them look great, but I never thought that the Mon Calamari cared much for ascetics
I think I saw the Home One listed as 1.4 Km. Home One should be around 3 Km-ish (bigger than an ISD), while the 1.4 km measurement should fit for a Liberty type Mc 80. Still, great video! Keep it up!
@@iwanbarnett7683 It's well supported, though. Even in Ahsoka, it scales about two miles compared to the Ghost. That's only noticeable in a full side view of the hangar scale, mind.
Where is it stated that it’s larger than a Resurgent? Also, it was the prototype Viscount that was 3 km long. The production version was around 17 km long
Why couldn’t we bring in the Legends New Republic Star Destroyers into cannon? I would love to see them being the capital ships being flanked by MC series ships and two Starhawks
The “larger than a Resurgent” stat seems very shaky. I checked Wookiepedia and the source for that size was listed simply as “Rise of the Resistance” which implies to me that it was basically eyeballed from the ride. I wouldn’t take that as concrete personally. In the Rise of Skywalker, it looks much closer in scale to the MC75. The model is also built off of the Home One model from Star Tours and I’ve heard that it might’ve just been intended to be Home One in the ride before the differences caused a change for RoS. It’s probably much closer to the MC80s and ISDs. This size just makes more sense to me from a New Republic that was slowly demilitarizing. I’m guessing MC95 would’ve been a more ship of the line vessel while the older, larger, MC85 was a command vessel/fleet carrier
Well, it seems like it might be three quarters or 4/5 as big as a Resurgent, in several shots in the ride, @pupulauls - but to be honest, I really can't yet be sure. Three kilometres would be the absolute upper limit - and I have my doubts about that.
The aft third on the C variant looks pretty cool. But I'm not the hugest fan of the front with how tall both sections are, and it's the same issue I have with the MC140. I much prefer what the Hammerheads do with there's being shorter and flush with the hulls rather than thin blade or sail-like components that look fragile and could break off at the slightest impact from anything bigger than a strikecraft.
I suspect Mon Cala was a model new republic world in terms of its military. It building up its own powerful independent defense fleet, securing and policing its surrounding area. Other new republic worlds was supposed to do the same but outside of the core too many were too impoverished to do some, leading to a destablishing slow rot that the federal new republic military was unable to handle.
There was just something off with the Raddus in TLJ, it didn't land for me. This ship looks way better in that model or schematic or whatever that's displayed in the video at 1:53, if I'm understanding that correctly. They really didn't do a good job with explaining the sequels' lore, I had no clue this ship wasn't NR military surplus like we were told most of the other Resistance stuff was... the Mon Cal royalty fleet thing is news to me. So many details were relegated to supplementary material that nobody bothered to consume. No details on the armament and so on? I'm surprised, is the info just not available? I am not checking wookiepedia right now to answer my question. Its just I feel like that's usually included in these videos so I was expecting it. In any event this design kind of feels like it was phoned in, minimal effort. I guess those variants in the asspull fleet in TRoS weren't meant to be seen up close... those random parts don't share the same design language at all. Those fins and whatnot look like they'd be more at home on a CEC manufactured ship. And what is with that command tower? It's like they just stuck a model of an engine valve on the top and said good enough.
The Raddus is NR military surplus. It was part of the NR home fleet. And the armament, the only knowledge we have is it in the Resistances hands, and they had to add guns to it themselves as the NR stripped its weapons when they decommissioned it. So we don’t know what its stock version comes as.
@snowy_boi707Warhammer 40k ships, or rather the 40k universe itself, are basically a huge middle finger to physics itself, so their ship size is pretty much irrelevant. But if you really want to find an explanation to the ridiculous size, I guess that's what more 30k years could get us to.
I understand the first order making massive ships, they wanted what few they should have had to hold up to the larger, though much smaller then even the alliance fleet?, Republic fleet and what ever system defense forces could throw at them. But why would the mon cal build such large ships?
