- I finally finished my 1950s ski ensemble this time around! Knitting the Bonnet and mittens was a lovely way to relax while I was a bit sick and they were wonderfully warm when I went out snowshoeing!

Engineering knits is a place for people who enjoy all kinds of vintage and antique crafts - from sewing to knitting, crochet to embroidery I like to try it all. I definitely have a preference for historical fibre crafts, and it is my dream to one day make an entire outfit from sheep to sweater. I hope you enjoy watching me and my favorite companion, Nutella, struggle through some fascinating projects! Хобби

Would you ever wear a knitted skit bonnet? I have to say, it is very warm and stays down over the ears - I can recommend it!
I think I would, it's so pretty and feminine.
Perfect for windy days!
Ok, why are we not referring to all knitted mittens as "knittens"??
The whole ensemble is so cute! It feels so good to wear a complete outfit you made yourself :D
Your dog grabbing the snow ball was hilarious and adorable. And that being pretty immediately followed by knitting with slightly greasy hair - I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a youtube video so real. Very impressive.
The bonnet is really interesting. You don't see that kind of hat for adults anymore, usually knit bonnets are for babies now. Congratulations on finishing the entire ensemble! Your snow day looked so beautiful with the mountains in the background.
So beautiful 🤗❤️❤️❤️
Please can you make a video series knit along of a vintage long sleeve cardigan so we can knit along with you please and you show us each step please ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Episode of Taxi season 4 episode 7... Variations of the sweater are timeless! 🙂
Omg yes the mental gymnastics for magic loop two at a time is wild. When I do two at a time (magic loop), I do the same, treating them almost as if they were one large piece, just changing the yarn ball between them. I would by lying if I said I had never forgotten to change balls, which you can more easily avoid by having separate DPNs. 😆
this video was so stinkin’ adorable, it’s actually absurd! 😢😊❤ i loved it sooooooo much!
From Deb Sims…one word sums it all…adorable!
The Scenery!! A-mazing!
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I think the back of the bonnet looks great, and I probably would have interpreted the same way!
When I do two at a time... I do one repeat, switch to the second set of needles do two repeats, switch back and so on
That bonnet is so cute! Just the shape of it is such a charming silhouette. Your soup looks great! I had chicken soup today.
Yay, so looking forward to this new part of the project! I love how cozy and inspiring your videos are! Thanks for making my evening ^^
They might be too big, but they're so cute! My dog does the same running and jumping and diving in the snow that Nutella does, but she doesn't eat snowballs. Haha. She's only seen so much snow a couple of times in her life because she's a southeastern dog.
delightful! just wonderful! thank you!
The jumper, hat and mittens are delightful. What a gorgeous set they make.
It looks so beautiful where you are and your lovely dog certainly seems to be enjoying the snow.
What a lovely outfit!
Omg you dont know how satisfying it is to see you walk around in the snow with that outfit just like the picture in the pattern looks!! Brilliant job well done!
Such a fun outfit. Beautiful.
I hope you are feeling better. Onions are excellent medicine for colds! Chicken soup with onion, garlic, sage, oregano, thyme, and bay leaf is also very good for you.
Are you in California for these rains? Only, apparently you have snow, so, there is that.
Good video.
I loom knit sometimes, but I don't needle knit. I find you highly entertaining..
I started my new 2023 knitting journal today, so thank you for your inspiration. I hope you're back to healthy soon. Your projects are lovely. Greetings from Belgium
Thank you! So cute!
I’ve seen a tutorial before that you can knit 2 socks at a time on one pair double pointed needles. Knitting the sock one inside the other. I guess could do that with mittens and sleeves as well.
Amazing 🤩 and that soup ❤
All looks amazing, you are so clever 😊
Truly adorable set! So cute!
The hat is so sweet!
It's really cute! And your soup looks so good.
You look wonderful in your 50's snow ensemble! Everything turned out beautifully!
This was a great series! Looking forward to next year.
If you're ever looking for a new thing to try on the CSM, have you seen the 'spiral sock' thing where there is no heel ? it stretches to fit because of the design. I think it's from the 40s and it boggles my mind.
French Onion Soup, hmmm, how I know what to cook for lunch today.
Happy New Year! I love your content as much for your knitting and the scenery where you live. Beautiful
So lovely ❤
You look utterly adorable in your vintage ensemble.💗
Positively charming!
So cute!
Your Dog is so so cute
What a stunningly perfect place to do some cozy winter knitting! I think you made the right call on the bonnet pattern decreases. The way it curves in, the snowflakes probably would have ended up in those positions anyway, but could have look squished in.
I hope you are feeling so much better. I love the whole outfit, but the bonnet reminded me, in style, of one my nana knit for me when I was about ten. It was in bright orange and dark green check and i loathed it 🤣 Looking forward to seeing what you make this year.
Hello Taber how are you doing,
where are you from?
Absolutely love the whole outfit. I especially love the bonnet, going to see if I can find a pattern similar to it. II have however just completed my first ever knitted sock, I used 9 inch circular needles. It will be the first entry in my knitting journal.
when i work anything 2-at-a-time I cast on A and B, knit A until I get to a landmark (end of ribbing, start of shaping, start of patterned section), then knit B to the same landmark and then continue knitting to the next landmark, then knit A to the same landmark and then continue to the next etc.
This is good for me when it's 'knit 2 inches of ribbing' or similar. I'll use my row counter to keep track on the first item, then reverse it on the second. That way I know without having to constantly count rows or measure so they're the same length.
My method is something I created out of necessity because I only have one size of each needle and only one row counter. So when I switch between A and B I'm moving the non-working item to a set of smaller needles to sit and wait for me to get back to them again. Quite dangerous if you start knitting on the wrong one though hahaha
Wow, what an amazing set.😊💕
What a wonderful set. I especially love the bonnet!
It looks so cute!! Kudos for seeing it through to the end!
I thoroughly enjoy your channel! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and the brake down of historic patterns! You have inspired me to make an accessory, or accessories that contain color work. People either love or hate DPN’s. I am in the love category, lol! One more thing, I am so jealous that you have all that snow! I live in the northeast and usually have at least one snow storm, but we haven’t had any. I guess things could be worse like in upstate New York or out in California. Everyone stay safe, healthy and have a wonderful new year 🎉
I absolutely LOVE this whole ensemble! It looks adorable on you. I had forgotten about the ski pants till I saw everything together. Thank you for sharing with us.
the whole ensemble is so cute!!!! I loved watching the process.
The ski ensemble came out great! Really love your videos. They're so calming.
The entire outfit looks amazing! Hope you get feeling better.
Gorgeous outfit! You did so brilliantly with the vintage patterns for all three. Lovely to see Nutella playing in the snow too. Hope you're feeling much better soon ❤️
It was wonderful to see it all come together! The ski outfit is so flattering and well-made :)
Love the sweater, hat and mittens and the wool pants. Looks cute on. Hope you are feeling better now.
I'm glad I found your channel. Your videos have been very inspirational for my own historical pattern work and makes me want to document my own knit production :)
New to knitting but the way you are doing the mittens is basically what I have been doing for small projects. If it's something like a sleeve and the pattern is 7 rows and 1 row with 2 increases I make that a for loop and do loop1a, loop1b+loop2b, loop2a+loop3a, etc.
That got more Computer Science-ey than plain language 🙃
L9ve this whole ensemble,. I don't do magic Loop for two at a time. I do it kinda like you, except I knit 5 or 10 rows before switching to the other sock or whatever. This let's me get into more of a meditative rhythm.
I love this set that you made! Only 4 hours since your video was posted and it seems your Etsy shop is already out of the knit planner stickers! I'd love to buy some when you get more in stock ❤️
Hello Katie how are you doing,
where are you from?
The stickers are looking super cute!! I know you've been struggling with finding a company for your stickers, but I think I have a company you can order from! Since you just moved over to the west coast (I live in Oregon), I have some experience ordering stickers as well as some friends that order stickers! The company that I and one of my best friends use is Sticker Ninja! They are Portland, Oregon based and make some really high quality stickers for really affordable prices. I highly recommend them and I'm sending you good vibes as well
Hello Avery how are you doing,
where are you from?
How fun! Fleece liners for the mittens? 🌈🌈🦋🦋
I think there needs to be some nutella stickers :)
How cute are you in that ski attire?!
Everything looked really great. Do you knit Nutella any sweaters?
I detest knitting with double pointed needles so much but doing so makes such a nice item that it's worth it.
If that hat doesn’t make a comeback in 2023! What’s wrong with ppl? It’s the cutest hat ever!
You look amazing! And Nutella was so cute jumping arround in the snow haha! What breed is she?
Nutella, why you eat the snow? 😂
