This casting director is an actual human and her sincerity is truthful. Very nice person she seems to be and that is so necessary, some cstg directors actually despise actors.
When I make it big....I'm going to tell everyone how GOD had this lady on RUclips just popped up on my feed and tell me things that I needed to hear about my career.
Amen!
I look forward to seeing you on the screen.
I'm curious, your passion for acting where has it taken you so far? 🤔
@@mckayla5435 It's only been eleven months, practice, training and making connections takes time.
Let's give him some faith.
If you make it big. I just try to enjoy it as it is. And then maybe I'll get somewhere.
I LOVE Erica's advice on using a split screen with the full body picture on one side and the slate on another. I'm doing this immediately. Thank you
Oh and giving yourself a cut off time when filming self tape. This has been my biggest struggle with self tape. Lighting, Equipment and a cut off mark will reduce your time immediately.
This is really insightful. Thank you so much. I love the part where you talked about bold choices.
I need help, i got viral video eagle flew inside car, now a lot of tv show and network agency reaching out to me, and now itv from UK is sending camera crew to my apartment here in the US to do actual interview with me, how can i take advantage of this to get notice and maybe a break of my career on youtube or maybe acting
I’m auditioning for Newsies soon, and I’m using the song “I’m Your Man” from Meet John Doe, and I’ve been really nervous about it because the song is so bold, I’m literally saying, “Anything you need done I’m the one for the job!” And I’m scared I won’t be able to hold up to that, but I think if I promise it, I will. Thank you for giving me more confidence. Casting directors work with bold choices and hopefully will work with mine
edit: I did get a callback, though just for ensemble, I'm still really grateful and super excited!
Gotta be one of the nicer Casting Directors I've seen.
i just randomly got into acting idk how or why i guess i just always liked acting 😭 but i have my first audition today im a little nervous but this woman is so great lol id love to see her as my casting director one day
Just a note to say thank you for the opportunity to audition!
This video was a great help, thank you sm!
Loved self tape feedback portion. Thanks Erica!
Thank you Erica and also actors for lending us your great work!
Thank you for this valuable information ❤️
Always a joy watching these videos :)
All of this is very helpful. I have auditions today and this has helped me prepare more and I feel like I already got to know allot about you in this video. I love how you said just be yourself because many forget they have a background story and get sucked up into how can I do this line for line and forget to show some of there own talents. I really really love how you said that. But yeah your insight on how to film a good self video where to stand and where not to and the lighting and spitting over the video really helped and helped me learn more for my video take thanks. This content is really great and very helpful.
Great questions, Great Answers! Thx
Such great authenticity plus support/advice here. Thanks, Erica...
This information is awesome. I am preparing for my first Self Read and learned so much from this video. Thank you 🙏🏾 ❤️

Thank you for your wonderful insight, Erica! So helpful, especially the 1st 15 seconds tip!
I love your advice about bringing “yourself” to the audition is great! Thank you for the insights!!
Thank you so much, I'm praying my first audition tape and this is such a lifesaver😢😢❤❤❤ so thankful for y'all
These self tapes are superb, and a great education for me.
This is one of the best backstage videos ever, I feel like I am back in acting class
Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Thank you Erica - some wonderful tips for actors and humans. I loved when you showed and provided feedback on the self-tapes. I loved it even more when you said you love props! I'm reminded of the song "I Gotta Be Me" when everyone tells us BE YOURSELF! 😊✌️
Thank you for all the advices!!!
Thanks a bunch for this! I needed a bit of advice on the bold choices side of auditioning, so this was really helpful since there are so many choices one can make for a character
This was awesome, thanks so much!!

this was so great :--)
Thank you.
Wooow thank you 😊
So helpful
Erica, thank you so much. You're God sent. I have been struggling trying to figure out how to do self tape. How do I send the self tape sample to you before uploading the demo reel to my Backstage portal?
Appreciated you Erica
I hope this help I’m going to pray I really need this role and I’m going to get it
thx 4 advice
GREAT Backstage for that informations..How do I find information about acting class for deaf and hard of hearing people in Atlanta or Online
Love all the advice except the self tape…we have to set it all up ourselves whatever that entails and then edit it ourselves…how anyone can do that in 15 mins is virtually impossible. In the room all we need to do is act. At home we are director lighter editor. It’s great to be relaxed about it and enjoy the process. Also I would have preferred Brittany’s eyeline to be off camera, so closer to the lense to her left. The eye line will be so much cleaner and accessible when it is delivered closer to the lense 🙏🏼
I think she means like actually doing the scene , if you do the audition in person all that extra stuff you listed would already be set up
Thank you so much for this! I am to from DC & I have an audition coming up for a film on BET! I am super nervous lol.
Congratulations
@@shariffbrown04 Thank you so much. Do you have any pointers on what color shirt would look good with a blue background? Also, when the scene transitions would you recommend a long pause, walk off and walk back on, or simple just keep going w. no pause?
Update? Did you get it?!?!
Erica - the best!
16:24..ABSOLUTE GEM
Wow 2500 self tapes!
This was really good my only thing I want to say about it about what she says there is no wrong things in the business I don't agree with that I think that if you are not living by the story and you're not investing in the story and you're just investing in your own emotional life or the life of the character without assessing does that fit in the scene does it have a buoyancy to the message of the story then I think that is not craftsmanship. I think that yes it is subjective but the subjectivity should come from understanding the actual message of each scene in story
Sadly actors who are selected seem to belong to certain agencies...who also have actors that are also involved in the writing of movies
Hey but think ... Where did those guys start?? ... Right where we are
hello, im new to acting and was wondering. does having a distinct voice help or damage my chances at acting? I have a raspy voice. Um sort of, well you know the movie trailer voice. "in a world of domininance, one man ..."
I would like to also send my tape .... how can I get it to you
Slate at the bottom? Like end of the edited audition?
Does anyone know what she means by having the slate at the top vs bottom?
What is the best way to send a self tape to you?:))))) I'm a boomer who had to stop in my prime due to the me too movement issues back then - but now.... I still have the dream:))
I can’t wait to start. Hopefully I’ll get my dream role of being miles morales
God bless and let's do business 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
Excellent information and well presented! Thoroughly enjoyed the self tape video and review. Only other comment would be…don’t overuse the ‘you know’ phrase.
Can you do a scene with a reader through zoom?
Yes
I’m trynna act I really want to but I feel like I will laugh all the time
Bill Hader is a famous actor and a favorite of mine, and he laughs in almost every SNL clip hes been in and hes even caught laughing in a scene in his show Barry when he wasnt supposed to. Dont worry about that, just go for it:)
Lol I just watched a video that this guy just loved cats so much and now I watch this and just throws the cats out the window.
May I also can be actor well I'm Frm Nepal 🇳🇵
Is it okay to self-tape without a reader, or does it have a significant impact on the outcome?"
I wanna act 🥹🥹🥹
Oh boy did I stand out. I got cringed out by everyone else (I guess I'm not that good of an actor) and went off script and decided to sing the Meow Mix song. I have a kitty cat and his name is Officer Meow Meow Fuzzy Face. Yes you have to say the whole thing.
The main factor that will help actors land their dream job is Location Location Location.
I think it's time we reboot the ten commandments. The Charlton Heston movie. Bro modern studios with modern technology would make for a more immersive experience.
I personally think they be asking for too much we are actors naturally in this planet.

I thought the audition tapes were not good
