We actually do know! What they can do in an audit is a part of the law and they do pretty much exactly what they say they will (in my experience as an engineer in pharmaceutical manufacturing). They will ask employees questions about how things are done, randomly inspect documents and batch records, and tour your facility to see if people are following documented procedures and the facility is in good condition.
I took a lot of medications from India and Pakistan back in the online pharmacy days circa 2001ish. Never had a problem unless its was some customs narc trying to ruin my life. I can't speak to the quality nowadays, honestly I wouldn't order anything like that now due to the threat of fentanyl (or god knows what) contamination.
yep still good. though india also has really strict rules with their factories similar to US & EU / a lot of the big US & EU pharma have divisions based there
These inspections entail some home made air fried pumpkin shakarpara and a strong chai tea, catching up with old friends and a walk around the newly renovated executive garden. Perhaps a swing on the hammock.
At the end of the day, there is no free lunch. Sadly, lower priced medicines may be able to be priced as such because of different quality and compliance standards in manufacturing. Unfortunately, we have seen higher recalls for generic products in recent years. Lower costs and slimmer margins can sometimes mean higher rates of manufacturing problems.
Also it's very easy to bribe an inspector in a different country. I've seen fire hydrants in apartment builds straight up be fake with a yearly inspection signed off
Does the FDA have the power/powers to inspect non-domestic that is to say non-USA- pharmaceutical companies & their products? Just asking because 60% of all of the world's over the counter medication is manufactured in the Republic of Ireland
In any restaurant, when a certain code or phrase goes out, all staff scrambles bc the FDA inspector has arrived. Even in the USA, staff scrambles. Pray for God's protection. WTTW
Yes, but their is only so much you can do before the inspector gets to the department. I pull up food safety in local restaurants. It's amazing that they aren't shut down immediately
I'm going to need part 2 of this one.
There’s a video

I hope this gets resolved, either by adding to it or a part two?
