One thing I love about being retired is that I no longer have to contend with people pushing me to be more outgoing or networking at work. I don"t have a set schedule now and I find I love the very early hours of the morning. If I don't have these quiet hours to meditate, read or just sit...I just can't function. I love living alone and I find I am happier now in my life than ever before.

I truly believe that most people no longer know who they are; they are superficial & shallow . They watch too much TV & false news. They live in these beautifully decorated homes along with they themselves decorating themselves with gold & jewels but shallow & empty. Jesus described them in this way; they are like decorated coffins with dead bones inside!

So true....I embrace solitude stt times and have fee but well known friends who I have a long history with..
That does not mean that I am not open to new friendships....
I find that there are some, but very few people that I consider true friends.
But I enjoy having time for solitude.....I find it calming....i am often looks down on by other people and judgment by them for solitude....but I actually enjoy solitude and no ne should judge another.
I need time fr solitude and enjoying the moment....ie being in the present, and enjoying watching the birds come to my feeders, taking care of my dog.
I truly am not unfriendly, it is just that I enjoy solitude ast timed.
Certain relationships are worth it, others aren't and are actually toxic.
Being alone and self reflection is time well spent.

I am not isolated from anyone or anything. I only feel isolated when I’m surrounded by people. Then I pull my thoughts closer and wrap them around me. I feel most connected to myself and God when I find time alone. I can relax and just enjoy being. I have found places to be alone throughout my entire life. I need the solitude to recharge my energy so that I can face the world again. I’m 64 and I cherish my solitude. I have realized many things about myself and my life when I’m alone. Solitude that is forced or caused by circumstance is not the same as chosen solitude. I reject loneliness because it is a negative feeling. 🙏🏼 Namaste

I miss these people but have little in common with people I meet & I would rather be alone than spend a moment with anyone who is either toxic or self consumed. And I think keeping away from the above keeps me peaceful & sane.

One has to embrace being alone and to know and love oneself or risk being corrupted by outside influences. My favorite quote: Don't be a jerk, try to love everyone, give more than you take, yet realizing you'll only like 7 out of 500 people you meet. It might sound anti-social, but allows one to rid themselves of selfish, phony "friends".

I can always find something to keep my mind stimulated and the times I don't want my mind stimulated I'm able to do that easy as well. @home8630 Год назад +9

True solitude is beneficial, however it is not when it is enforced as a punishment. There are times of solitude and there are times of togetherness, but when the togetherness does not come, because there are that who and what is missing from our lives that we are meant to have and be a part of, the ability to participate and interact. When the solitude starts to become a prison of solitary confinement, because of situations such as abuse, and abandonment, persecution, injustice, ostracisation, outcasting, loss and grief come forth as an expression of death. When it is unjust that expression of grief remains and that is what is happening now, the collective grief of death resulting from loss and injustice, abuse or other things that are not meant to be, then there is a collective healing needs to take place. However it can not be when there is no responsibility and just immaturity and a continual long grief and cry, we don't want you. So we have a long enduring, protracting journey until all learns if you shut one out and refuse togetherness then it will bring forth continual death loss and grief, hence our situation now. One day everyone will learn, that we go together, times for aloneness and times for togetherness and there is a balance that is healthy, at the moment, there is an unhealthy imbalance. This road is long.

I've been alone a majority of my life. Getting picked on and Bullyed throughout my childhood I learned that if I stayed quite & low-key it wasn't as bad. But as I grew older I was feared & I didn't like that. Then I started to feel Loved from others & I didn't no how to react. Now that I'm in my mid 40's I'm just kind of lost, outta place? But I now know that it's my Birth Right 2B Happy & Abundant. Idk? Just thought I would would share. Thank you.

'Walk-alone' advantages: 1.) I pick the pace to walk. 2.) I turn to go back when and where I do, thus picking the distance. 3.) I pick the time with regard to the weather, sunlight and how I feel. 4.) I get to think my own thoughts and linger on discoveries. 5.) I'm free to take my dog and amusedly let it share some walking and stopping decisions. 6.) Nature is beautiful!

Having a Dog is the bes companion ever. We are never alone with a Dog. They totally get us and help keep us emotionally balanced. They will literally love us to death. Having to put my Dog to sleep was the most heartbreaking thing I'd ever had to do, or will ever do again. Their love is so unconditional that the sadness never completely leaves you. If you're lonely, go and adopt a lonely old Dog who will die lonely in a cage having never had the chance to love you unconditionally. 🙏💓💝

Being alone not lonely is what it is all about. When you alone you do not have any forms of confrontations. This leads to a peaceful inner self.Because there is nothing or no one to upset you in any way.Just you and of course my beloved animals. They are the only main company that brings a real peace and happiness to me.I like people. But within small amounts before I need to escape and am just utterly bored.

Alone time , quiet time is a discovery of self. Live without TV or Radio. Especially in the mornings, all the time for TV if we can. Rumi says something like " in the silence their is much to be heard "! Connect with God , Nature ,the Universe. Soften the entire body the Qi can flow. Then listen to our heart ,as the mind over analyzes everything these days. Own our peace ,it is a choice. Being kind to ourselves .
This is real !! Be conscious of our thoughts . If we think the same way every day nothing will change.
A conscious consciousness, as my one Zhineng Qigong Teacher said , will remind us to reprogram our negative thoughts.

I just got home after breaking off a relationship with a girl I was actually beginning to develop strong emotional feelings for. We spent 3 hours talking, mostly crying. I’m in the 5th year of a Doctorate in immunology and its just life consuming to the point where it’s a “burden” to have a partner but at the same time I’ve spent so so much time alone and lonely. Most of my 20s in fact I chose to be alone and focused on undergrad college. I think to finish this phd I need to do just that again :/

A Greek philosopher said: "Παν μέτρον άριστον." Everything in moderation. Time to be alone and time to be with people.
According to science people that live alone die younger.
And i live alone caused by circumstances.
But i loved the speakers vocabulary and creative expression. Plus there is alot of truth to what he says.

I’m often left alone, but with others nearby (& often my little chihuahua will lie beside me). I usually like this, due to my autism, the fact that I’m almost always unwell & I mostly prefer doing indoor stuff. I do like to mix it up sometimes, though. I also enjoy going on a car ride where I can listen to my music, go shopping with my fam, have a day out to the zoo, planetarium, aquarium or even a night of stargazing (often with my sister, BIL & my youngest niece). I’m not one for partying, loud concerts or getting too involved with big crowds. My eldest niece invited me to “Disney On Ice” last year & even with the help of my noise-cancelling AirPods, I was in extra-sensory overload & spent much of it with both hands clapped firmly to my ears & soon had to wear sunglasses to block out the flashing lights that overwhelmed me. If I weren’t confined to a wheelchair, I’d take pleasure in going through forest parks, being surrounded by nature & enjoying only the natural sounds around me. It’s weird how life can be both so simple & yet so hard to figure out sometimes. I guess we shouldn’t think too hard about it? IDK. I suppose it’s like my mum’s father always used to say … “Que sera, sera”. 🤷‍♀️😅
