I never realised it before, but if you look at an old photo of the shops and flats of Cotmandene Crescent, you'll see what a brilliant example of post war architecture it was. Imagine coming down from dirty old bombed out London in the early 1950's to St Pauls Cray and seeing that!
Born in the 50s in Chorley Wood Crescent flats. St Paul's Wood Hill junior school ,Midfield senior school and Saturday boy at Mathew's butchers (lower end) The Robin Hood my local pub for two decades . Great days !

i live in chorleywood and im sad to say that the council estate next to cotmandene is getting demolished
I was born in Shoreham road, i went to Grays Farm and Midfield secondary school. A great place to grow up

Anyone remember when the tower blocks in St Mary Cray were painted cream , they were grey for many years before that. Both demolished in 2012.
