what fabric should i use for a needle that's big enough to use size 4 yarn? i got 12ct monk's cloth from michael's but my needle was too big, it just made holes in the fabric.
I don't know that it has another name, but you can also punch on rug linen. If you are using the fine punch needle you can punch on monk’s cloth, rug linen, or rug warp. You can also punch directly onto wool fabric with the fine punch. I hope this helps a little. You may be able to find monk's cloth from one of our international stockists listed here: amyoxford.com/pages/international-orders. I hope this helps. Best, Amy
Hi! Velvet would not work well as a backing as the weave is too tight, but you could punch with strips of velvet if that is your question. I know that people like the Cameo and the Ultra Punch, but I am not very familiar with them and don't know if they would work on velvet or if one might be better than the other. Sorry not to be of more help! Best, Amy
I'm sorry, but weaver's cloth does not work for our punches - it's best for smaller needles like those used for punch needle embroidery. Thanks for watching!
I've found that weaver's cloth works really well for punch needle embroidery (which uses a much smaller punch needle such as the Cameo Punch Needle and 1-3 strands of embroidery floss). I find it hard to use with the Oxford punch though because it has such a tight weave. I like monk's cloth and rug hooking linen best. Amy
Lovely information!
Thank you for sharing all your precious knowledge!💖⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💖

Very useful video. But I'm finding it difficult to find Monk's cloth in India. Is there any other name to it?

Love your videos. Is it possible to punch on weavers cloth?

Burlap is great for latch hooking. But yeah not very good for back on rugs. I was told Weaver cloth hold up better.
