  • I ordered a 2018 #Chrysler #300S #Hemi in February and it arrived today! This is my first American car, and I sold 2 Audis to get this. Due to the storm, it was windy when I shot this video. Sorry for the crap audio.
    Here's a brief explanation of the history of the 300 and DaimlerChrysler before the FCA takeover. www.autonews.com/article/20180...
    And if you think the 300 is still a disguised Mercedes, you need to read this: www.autonews.com/article/20110...

    I just picked up the my 5.7L 300s last week. It had the same incentive. All these people saying its an old platform, who cares. It runs and drives awesome. Who cares if its the last year, it should have the bugs worked out by now. I watched your review, then I drove it and loved it. Hope you and I both keep enjoying our cars. Subscribed.

      Dialysisforever how much was it OTD?

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  6 лет назад

      Chrysler is adding a $6,000 to start. Plus $1,500 in retain markets on certain trims. Plus $500 for certain affiliate program members (Sam's Club, USAA, etc.). Most incentives expire on April 2, 2018. You can look around and you'll find that there are more fingers on one hand than 300 models in stock. The dealer I bought from had 4 300 sedans in stock - and it's pretty much like that all over Texas. Chrysler only makes 2 cars, the Pacifica and the 300.

    • @Dialysisforever
      @Dialysisforever 6 лет назад +3

      When I bought my car 2 week ago, the dealer had 2 of the 5.7l v8 300s and 2 v6 awd 300s. Now there is one v6 left. The window sticker for the 5.7 v8 300s was $48,000. The dealer sale price was $ 37,000 after all incentives. I did add some coverage due to the massive amount of electronics in the car. It has all the toys - Adaptive cruise control with auto stop, headlights that turn the direction of the steering wheel, auto dimming headlights and more and more. I also added the clear bra. All in all, I financed $38,900 at 3.05% with $5k down. I know some people don't believe in the extra coverage but it makes me feel better.
      Things I do not like - The steering stays heavy at slow speeds. The piano black trim shows all the dust. It drinks gas like crazy( mostly because I have no self control and love the sound of the engine and the way it handles.) . The trunk is smaller than my Hyundai Sonata's trunk. The seat heat/cooling controls are not manual buttons, control is accessed through the infotainment screen. I would prefer the Dodge style transmission shifter over the rotary transmission control. ** Originally I went to buy the Dodge Charger Scatpack but my wife did not like how loud it was. I was heart broken.** Thanks.

    Great choice!! I have a 2015 300s HEMI which is the first year of that particular body style and wheels. I purchased for the same reason. The last big elegant sedan with a powerful engine for the price. I did go a little crazy and added Flowmasters though. Now I get challenged by chargers quite often. Lol. Look forward to seeing more vids about your new ride! Take care.

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  6 лет назад +1

      Cool! How do you like the Flowmaster? Loud enough? Too much drone? Would you change to something else or go back to stock?

    • @edwhite101
      @edwhite101 6 лет назад

      New Car Spin Sorry I missed this but great question. Virtually no drone at any cruising speed. I did have to get used to the sound increase. I cut the mid-mufflers first then went back the next day and installed Flowmaster 44's. With the Flowmaster + Resonators, it was quieter than the just the muffler delete, so I cut the resonators and went straight pipe in the rear. I defenetley wouldn't go back to stock. If I were to make any changes toward that direction it would be a simple muffler delete, keep resonators. It sounds much better than stock for a HEMI.

    I got my 5.7L last month for the same reason. I traded in my V6 300. Nothing was wrong with the V6, but I just wanted a V8. Car is plenty fast and it's a head turner. The suspension is a little tighter than the V6 and the sport mode really tighten things up. Have fun driving it! I know I am.

      The Hemi V8 has 16 spark plugs. 2 per cylinder. I have seen Mopar 16pc spark plug kits for less than $80. The rest is labor. $320 in labor for a 1hr job? Where can I get work like that?

    Good choice. Keep us updated with all those unreliability problems what some us car owners are experiencing like one guy said before. Looking at FCA stock I don’t think they going to pack their bags and leave soon. I think more interesting things are coming. Serge is not stupid. Maybe one day I buy also same car. I had 02 300M Special and I was very pleased with this car. Although lot of people say that they fail and has lot of electrical problems. I had 0 problems, normal wear.

    I bought a 300c 2005 in August 2004, drove it for 15 years, I traded in in for a 2019 300c, loaded. The fact that they said it was going to be discontinued plus tech wise my 2005 was obsolete compared to the 2019, safety features are great. I really didn't have to get used to the feel of the car . Love the interior , tan, and the dark red color exterior . So glad I bought it.

      I traded it for a Durango R/T. I miss the 300S because it was a great looking large vehicle that hauled ass. My expectations weren't as high for it as they would be for a $100k AMG. As long as you go into your purchase knowing that it's a powerful and luxurious American car that will lose value, you will be okay.

      I drove the quad last year at Circuit of the Americas and I wasn't impressed. Sure, it's fast and sounds good but the interior looked like a collection of parts from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. It was as if everyone pitched in to help Alfa Romeo out. I'm sure the 2.0 is nice, but I haven't driven one since. I don't really see any in Texas.

    I bought a 17 with a hemi, I think you’re gonna be really happy with that car I really enjoyed mine. Given how many reviews I’ve seen and how many cars I’ve on I’m surprised how much I enjoy it. A quick heads up on those white seats, is a really low quality paint job on top of the leather and less you use protectant right away, the paint will start to flake off usually was in the first 3000 miles and start to make the seats look a blade it. Chrysler will not replace them under warranty I have tried many times. Mine had 3600 miles on it before the armrest and the posters on both seats started to look faded

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  6 лет назад

      I am definitely enjoying my 300s hemi. As for the smoke color seats, Chrysler added nappa leather to 2018 models. I only have 2k miles on mine right now but I am very ocd with my rides. I already tried Lexol (which was great on nappa leather on my AMG), but I didn't like the tacky feeling ot left behind. I ended up getting the Mopar Total Clean and it works great. Just be sure to spray the towel instead of the seats. I follow up the cleaning with the Mopar Protectant. The dealer had a little Mopar interior kit for $15 and that's just perfect because they look like sample sizes but will probably last me 6 months. I clean the driver's seat and armrests weekly and the rest of the seats monthly. You can always get a Katzkin leather interior to replace the upholstery when it's time.

    • @rkalla
      @rkalla 6 лет назад

    • @rkalla
      @rkalla 6 лет назад

      Hey are you sure about the Nappa leather thing? That looks to be on the 'C' only, on the 'S' I still see the same "painted" leather that the 2017 had that flakes off. The Nappa/quilted seat only seems to be in the C. I would seriously consider selling my 17 and getting an 18 for that...

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  6 лет назад +1

      The 5.7 V8 is still available in the US. Chrysler is going to probably cut the 6.4 SRT from Europe and Australia for 2019. In fact the 300 may only be in North America for 2019.

    • @AlbertoGonzalez-tc2ju
      @AlbertoGonzalez-tc2ju 6 лет назад

      New Car Spin oh ok available in the u.s. but only if you order it this away??

    • @RoadandTract
      @RoadandTract  6 лет назад

      There are very few 300 models on dealer lots. Maybe 6 at a time if you're lucky. Out of those, one might have a V8. But whether or not that one 300 on the lot is the right color combo or has the right options is up to you. If you order, you should negotiate your price up front, avoid paying a deposit, and as long as you can wait about 8 weeks, you'll get exactly what you want. I would avoid dealers that want you to pay for "transport from another dealer."

      Chrysler has changed the 300 lineup over the years. Now, the awd option is no longer paired with the v8 hemi. The rwd v8 and v6 models get 20" wheels and the awd (optional only on v6) models get 19" wheels.

    I hate buying 300s v8 in the US it cost like 392 i would rather go with a charger 392 and pay the same thing.

      Yes and no. It depends on several factors. Fuel economy, insurance, gangsterness, resale value, and comfort all play into the choice. 392 was a hoot but the noise wasn't for me on my daily. 300s should have had an SRT option.

    I bought my Dodge from Huffines. The day I picked it up they did not even wash it. They did fill the tank. I took it back Tuesday for repairs that were needed, The door mirror fell off it and a few minor details.. They had the car for three days and I was going out of town the weekend. I picked it up on Friday and they told me they did not have time to fix it.. How can a dealer have a car they sold and had the dodge for three day and not have the time . I called Chrysler and they told me to take it to another dealer. I would never buy another product from Huffines again

      Thanks for sharing. I was also at their service department this past week. As for my delivery, they offered to wash it another day since it was raining all week. As my car is black, I was going to decline the offer. I went in for a wash and they did a proper prep without scratching it. However, when I took it into service I declined a courtesy wash. I had an issue with the window tint and a few fitment items. FCA provided a loaner through Enterprise but the dealer couldn't resolve one fitment issue and had to order parts. New cars will sometimes have some kinks to iron out. Satisfaction really depends on the dealership service department after purchase. This is my first car through Huffines. The sales department knows who I am. I'm not sure if the service department has any clue. I'll report my experience eventually if you're interested.

      Hey Sam! I just want you to know that after my recent service visit, I'm never going back to Huffines. It's amazing how there are two sides of a car dealership. I have to think that these sales guys are doing their best, but when it comes to service, the service manager doesn't give a shit about anybody, including customers or the guys in sales who won't see us again. Sad.

      Apparently, that's how it's done all the time outside the US. It's actually pretty easy as long as the deposit is reasonable and refundable. If a dealer wants a deposit larger than $1k, walk away. After you order it can take a few months. In this case it took 7 weeks. But I have exactly what I want and I didn't need to worry about buying what was on the lot.

      New Car Spin I mean that’s great, it’s just I mean to custom order it and buy it all in, but if that’s what you meant in the first place, then great.

      Some manufacturers offer European Delivery. To partake, you need to order the vehicle with the color and options you want. They build it, you fly there and pick it up. You wouldn't want to lease in that situation because it could be stuck at port or on a boat for up to two months while you're making lease payments. Also, you need to arrange financing at least 30 days prior to picking up the car in Europe. They offer discounts and you get to travel well, so I think it's worth it. If you don't do a European Delivery option, you can still order the car exactly as you want it. In my case I've ordered cars many times before simply because dealers only carry cars that meet lease payment profits rather than my desire for something different. It doesn't cost any more than buying a car that's available on the lot. You just need to be patient while they build and ship it.

    Congrats and all, but why on earth would you buy such an outdated car that's set to be axed soon, and that sells virtually only to rental fleets and taxi drivers for the last couple of years? Why not go with the much-more-updated Charger? The 300 is on its last legs, so I really hope you got an amazing deal on it!

      The Charger and the 300s are virtually the same car. The 300s has the sport tuned suspension. What is more updated on the Charger than on the 300s? Thanks.

      You don't know a shit what you are talking about. A charger looks like the Flintstones car when compared to a 300.

      Everything is dying. Sedans. V8 engines. Manual transmissions. Get it while you can.
