    Glad you got underway to Brittany. If your plans take you South....Golfe de Morbihan is a cross between Poole Harbour and Salcombe, but with pretty islands and proper beaches.. Wishing you well for the ongoing journey...

      Thanks so much for watching! A really great cruising ground around Brittany, we can see why it is so popular. Will have a look at your suggestion, thanks very much!

    Well done both. The joys of short space docking 😂😂 I wondered why you were sailing the channel with an old fender ;lying on deck. Ready for anything 👍

    You did a perfect job docking in a tight splt, your self-confidence is lower than your capability. Nice work.

    I really enjoy following you along your journey! In light winds, your mainsail outhaul might be too tight - might be worth testing loosening it a bit to give the sail a more curved shape. You might be able to sail faster / start sailing in even less wind.

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  Год назад

      Hi thanks so much for the advice! We are still learning about sail trim etc, so all tips such as this are well received.
      We thought that ‘the tighter the better’ was the approach with in-mast furling, to try to mimic the slab reef sail. So we’ll try this approach and see how we go!! Thanks again

    The TWO Upper Lugs near the seat ends (near the cabin access) could accommodate swivels that could hold pockets where winch handles could be stored in- something I did!

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  Год назад

      Ah good spot! When we got the boat it came with some very tired looking bags that clipped onto them, but we never got around to making new ones. So now they are just annoying lugs that we often find digging into our bags on passage😂

      We actually checked this (with q flag at the ready), but France actually don’t want you to fly the Q unless you have something to declare! Strange but true

    Well done. I made it across the channel this summer. Had to raft the first time due to No Pontoon space but it was all ok. French staff very helpful. Wine so cheap, peaches the size of buses and so cheap. Marina fees half of the UK. (Ask about discounts for owners associations and RYA members etc. but big well done!!! Fantastic achievement. Can’t wait to see where you go next.

    Thats gotta feel good. Quick question - we return to our boat soon and will be leaving Florida for the Bahamas and beyond. I have some what decided on getting Starlink but i have heard they have have gotten tough on folks using the land RV service for marine applications. Are you still happy with it?

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  Год назад

      Thanks so much for watching! Feels great finally leaving the uk🙌🏼
      We’ve been very happy with the Starlink Roam package, so far. We took a wave over the bow at the start of the biscay crossing and it stopped working, but we cleaned it up and it worked a few days later. Otherwise it’s done well. We use it on the move but we’ve been pretty close to shore most the time (due to orca sightings), so haven’t received any complaints from Starlink.
      If we’re at anchor it sometimes goes slow when we spin with the tide, but we just stow and un-stow it and it’ll face a better direction then.
      We’d say go for the roam and see how you get on!

    Next time, safety first! Clip on when going forward! Pass the tether around the mast and back to your D ring. I’m sure Lauren doesn’t want to see you go overboard and I’m sure that you don’t want to give her the stress of trying to recover you! That being said, I’m jealous! Enjoy your trip!
