    Used this silver compound technique and some microsoldering to repair a detached quartz crystal on a Baby-G BGM-100, now I have an alarm that plays "Bomboleo"! Thanks VDW!

    I didn't know about that stuff and do micro soldering for years. I usually just use a thin hair 0.10, or 0.20 jumper wire to repair broken traces. As repair phones and ETC. I have a few Casio and Seiko LCD watches been collecting over the last few months and some need repair due to corrosion and broken bond wire. I may give this stuff a shot as least for the broken traces.

    Just picked up a DOA H127-5000 at a market. Pristine inside and out but I suspect there's something like this internally.

    Absolutely great footage! Thanks a lot, now i will be able to repair many of my dead Casios. The tip with the silver conductor is gold! Would you tell me which type of microscope you use?

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 лет назад +2

      Hi, sure, it is a Novex AP-4, with 20x magnification, two oculars. But any microscope with 20x can do the job, of course having two oculars for both eyes helps.

    Hi, I have a Seiko M929 where an LCD segment has failed inside the glass. Is it repairable? Or do I need a new LCD display? Thanks in advance. Great channel content. Steve.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches

      Hey, it can be either rhe board, LCD connector or LCD itself. Needs diagnosis.

    • @steve1811uk
      @steve1811uk 2 года назад

      @@VintageDigitalWatches thanks for the reply. It is the LCD itself. The etched track on the glass is fractured right near the edge of the LCD. I have managed to chip away a bit of the glass at the edge and I should be able to repair with some conductive glue across the gap.

    Is there any chance to repair a lcd that have segmented. No any damage on the board. And zebra connector is good.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 лет назад

      Hmmm, before saying that the LCD is broken, you must validate that the board is working properly. You can do this with an oscilloscope and measure the LCD segments outputs from the board. You should see a square signal.
      Regards,
      Tibi

    Hi there is there something I can use as a zebra strip because my seiko g757 is missing one for the lcd any help would be appreciated thank you

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  4 года назад

      You can use a zebra strip from another watch but they have to match in dimensions. Also the G757 is notorious for fading or missing digits and not because of the zebra strip. It can be the capacitors or the IC on the board.
