Before, I just didn't know how to loosen and disassemble them. Now it works fine. Unfortunately, I scratched a bit of the black inner display painting, but at least I can use the watch now. I've got a Casio (Module 5082) that someone had buggered the battery clip on. No amount of working with the clip will get it to hold. Well at least I found a work around for this. What you need is something that when you close the battery back it presses down on the battery clip and holds it in place. I've found a furniture leg stick on works fairly well. Remove the adhesive backing and press it down centered on the battery clip. The real problem is getting it just tight enough to hold down the battery at the same time allowing you to firmly attach the watch case back.

    Hey, I have a 1980 Casio H104 Melody Alarm. I'm missing a pusher (button). Do you think the watch here and others of the period use the same pusher?
    Also the glass screen has a crack so I'm looking to replace that, but that will need to come from another H104. So I guess I'm on the look out for another broken H104 with a nice screen.

      Athough some do it, I don't recommend putting the watchmodule in the ultrasonic As for the case you can but watch out what solvemts you use in the cleaner as it may remove the wroting on the dial. Aslo diassemble evrything, you don't want watter trapped in the button holes.

    I got casio module 122, s004. After cleaning, and put new battery, AC several times, the microlight working, but the lcd still dead. I have no idea what happened. I think the lcd is broken.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Ganda, the module of the watch should have 2 lines that go the battery, check with a multimeter if those lines show continuity to the battery pads then the modules get power. If the module has power and still nothing on the LCD then it is either the module or the LCD. If you have access to an Oscilloscope you can check if either of the lines going to the LCD show a square signal, if they do, then it is indeed the LCD.

    Hey Tiberiu, i‘ve got a problem with two Casio Watches: They function like normal with a new battery, but after some hours the batteries are completely drained. I‘ve heard of that issue from someone else too. The problem was the displaylight, which was continuously on. But my watches do not have a displaylight. Do you have a suggestion, what could be wrong?

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  6 лет назад

      Hi Michael, what models are the watches and are they identical?
      Second, it might be a number of issues, like a short on the battery, or a defective part on the watch's board, etc. I can't tell you for sure unless you give me more detail and maybe send a pic of the watches with their back-cover removed. And we can move this conversation to vintagedigitalwatches@gmail.com

    Stunning video Tiberiu… Mostly amazed how well you can remember where all the parts go for the reassembly, thanks the lord for the camera phone 🙂 Anyway, my qstn is does it matter which way round the zebra strips are replaced after removal? Great channel, I’m finding it very useful 👍

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  2 года назад +1

      I would make a rule that it matters which side of the zebra was on the LCD and which on the board. This is because on the board the traces have a raised profile which during the years will shape the zebra strip with some ridges, the side that goes on the LCD is perfectly flat. On some watches it may not matter because the pressure from the LCD retainers will make sure any misshapes in the zebra strip are accounted for but on some it may matter.

    Hi Tiberiu, someone gave me the same watch with similar problems. When I separated the circuit board from the module, a very small spring fell out. I noticed in your video the same spring sitting loose inside the watch as you removed the complete assembly. Are you able to tell me: 1) Where is this spring fitted? 2) What is its purpose? Thanks and regards.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  4 года назад

      Hi not sure if I am answering your question below but here goes. The watch has 6 springs, 4 for each of the buttons, and another two for the battery terminals. Inside the battery bay you have the bigger one that has a rectangular shape and another on the side. I assume your's is the one on the side that picks up the + from battery.

      I thin the brand is Kemo. It usually takes 24 hours to be fully dry and resistant to any other coatings you want to apply over it like paint or conformal coating. But within 10 minutes you can test if it made the link between the points you want to bridge.
