i know you probably hear this a lot but you teach way better than my teacher and i learned more right there than i have in like 2 75 minute math classes
yooo when the teached puts the formulas on the table he thinks youre supposed to understand everything and keeps puting random numbers which i dont understand where they came from and im stuck there wondering about my existence in life and should i just jump off a cliff bcz i feel stupid
I've never heard anyone say that it's a waste of time to memorize the distance formula. But he's right!! All distance calculations I've ever done have been on graph paper; I can always make a right triangle!
Wow thank you very much, I look like a genius to my classmates now, though I just watch videos and prefer to understand it. But you're videos isn't just a just, for this will help people who are savaged by mathematics.😉😉😉keep it up!!!
the video my teacher chose was so much more complicated, but you explained it so much better. Crazy how she chose like a random 4k channel over the verified channel with 5.91M subs
Sir please could you tell me if there are 2 points in cartesian plane A and B and a third point C on line AB such that AC/BC=m/n then what are the coordinates of C and its derivation. Sir I don't think that it is an easy question to be solved by a message pls sir make a video on it pls pls pls 😓😓
Another problem.....How to find 2 coordinates on same points using distance formula when we are given that the point with missing coordinate is equidistant from 2 points with know coordinates and nothing else is given....pls help me .
It should be the square root of 16, you don't need the formula to figure this one out. You can see that since they have the same y value (-10) they will be on the same x axis, therefore the distance between them is simply the absolute value of the difference between the x values |-6 - (-2)| = 4
1: You're not as smart as you thought you were. 2; You're not patient enough to watch the full video. 3: You have ADD. 4: The distance formula. (I gave you a freebie),
i know you probably hear this a lot but you teach way better than my teacher and i learned more right there than i have in like 2 75 minute math classes
Do realize that you are not actually talking to him? Khan academy is a company this is not HIS youtube channel.
He still looks at his companies channel you know
To program the distance formula on your graphing calculator - InfinityCalcs.com
@@koi-feshtake a look at what you said 5 years ago. Feel the shame.
Eight year old video and still helpful.

Maths didn't change much since then to be honest.
EDIT: In medicine now finishing up in 2024. Life is good!
So.... How's that scholarship going for you?
We wanna know!?
Guy's it's been 8 years..
@@ryanse4 lol dude!
so did you graduate?
I was in deep shit. you have saved my LIFE
Or...Saved your life from "Deep frying shit".
I learned more with this 9 minutes than the school for 2 weeks (we only meet twice s week)
true
God needs to create more people like you.
Are you still alive?

This really helped me i have my finals tomorrow and i appreciate that you do this for everyone.
Love these videos. Nothing is vague and the concept is shown concisely as well as practically.

Awesomely explained I had my mind going crazy by looking at this distance formula and now after watching this video I am kind of loving it.....
This is so useful.,makes maths look so easy 💯💀
Yay! D to an A-!!! THANKS!!!!
Great tutorial - thank you.
Formula: 4:44
Wow! Thanks this was very helpful.
Yes.
why didnt you use a radical over everything to remove the exponents and add up to 18?
I really appreciate this video because neither of my classmates want to help me understand this, thanks.

Raphael Zuela same here I look like a mad mathematician who makes noise in class
I just count the boxes and I get it right every time I think teachers just make us do more work
lol 15 hours ago, are you studying for mid-terms?
No I don’t study I just makes me nervous and then I end up failing
ikrr
You remind me of me.
@@loafy3785Nerves don't make you fail. Ignorance does.
Thank you for helping me understand this better
First week on college and i still find this video useful, thanks!
These videos have saved my life so many tiimes
You explain everything so much better than my math teachers
Somehow never learned this and this came up in calc3 lol. This was exceptionally straight forward
I am currently trying to get ready for the CRCT , and your videos saved me! THANK YOU
My book made this look so difficult. Thank you for being helpful! Love you Khan Academy!
You can also apply the distance formula to a three-dimensional system. sqrt((x1 - x2) + (y1 - y2) + (z1 - z2))
We need to tell that to Khan Nunyen Singh.
Can you come and teach at my school? We need teachers like you.
bless you
This video was a big help. My teacher put on her website so we could watch it and collect notes.
I am here cause I am taking geometry in summer school!! Really sucks but whit this video becomes more easy!!! Thanks So Much!!!
You have now saved me from REALLY wet SNOW!
this is so helpful
amazing!
Sal Khan you are amaazing!!!!!
thanks a lot!
This guy can do anything
THANK YOU SO MUCH
omg, I found out something that aids my short term memory for formula HAHA. this channel has so much realization. thank you!
OMG thank you soo much. had to teach this for a projectand I had no idea what it was unti now.
the video my teacher chose was so much more complicated, but you explained it so much better. Crazy how she chose like a random 4k channel over the verified channel with 5.91M subs
This was very helpful thanks man!!!😁🤖
distance= square root of (x2-x1)2+(y2-y1)2
One thing that I think People could agree one is negative numbers. a short video on negative numbers would be helpful to a lot of people
I see the light! the distance formula is a farce! lol cool layout you got there too you really wowed me when you took out your TI-85 on the screen.
you da realest
Good video. Cool calculator too :D

Thanks a lot sensei Sal!
Very Helpful! TY! ☺

God bless you Khan
I love you, Mr. Khan
Sal, can you just be my math teacher? I'm taking Math 1 right now and I'm having some trouble...I need to be ready for the EOC's!
I can. What do you look like?
I can literally learn better from him than my own math teacher

thanks
Great content, keep up the good work.
Thanks so much
makes sense takes forever
I used this formula in coding js.. Tracking object distance..
This is like the most useful channel out there lmao I save hours of trying to figure out what the hell the prof. Is teaching by watching these vids
Thanks so much!
How do u know what number to subtract and what not to

ohmyglob thank you, this is more useful than my teacher
i stii ll have a question, why do we square it though?
YOR ARE THE BEST
like really man, you're a super awesome teacher!
Can u please help me with this question find the distance between the two points in the simplest radical form (7,1) and (3,8)
this is amazing.
11 years later, still helpful 👍
Naturally. The formula is hundreds of years old.
thanks bro I love you
The video was good but I would understand it more if we were at school
I was just told right now to watch this
This is just soo herp derp
Can u tell me if the distance for (-6,-10) (-2,-10) = square root of 18 is correct

I dont understand Analytical Geometry. Now i have to refer back to grade 10 so far i kinda understand, but i still struggle with it
I had to make sure that i liked this video.
What about fractional distance I need help with that
Works the same.
But I like distance formula... which is better to use?

EPIC!!!
i am in seventh grade learning this.

I learned this in algebra 1
what if it was horizontal or vertical line?
still works.
how to you know which is y1 and which is x1?
It works either way. Either point can be point 1.
do you use a mouse when your drawing stuff like this?
No he has a touch trackpad with the pen that comes with it that's how he writes
Good videohag
