Like you, I have always been an accuracy first. I do not have your speed or accuracy, but, after seeing this Monday, I came up with a skill test of 7 strings, 3 shots each (21 rounds total) at 3 yards from a totally concealed, strong side holster. Shooting cold Thursday AM, I shot a 3" group in a 2.23 seconds average per string. Friday A+AM
I wish the Mantis X had this par time beep setting. I have the X10 Elite, but no shot timer. The Mantis does most of the shot timer stuff I want, but doesn't allow for me to set a double beep part time. Seems like it would be an easy feature to add.
Download a timer on your phone. It has disadvantages, an will never replace a shot timer, but will allow you to do some timed work u til you get a timer.
Really needed this video. Thank you. I was trying to improve my Bill Drill by pushing splits. They were around .18 but the accuracy wasn't what I wanted. Going to push the draw to get the time and then I can have the time to press the trigger according to my vision. Thank you.
I'm a little confused; why did you practice extending and pulling the trigger and then dropping down to an extension without pulling the trigger? What mental exercise is happening here when you don't pull the trigger?
Great question! Sometimes pressing the trigger becomes a cadence with extending the arms. I am linking what I see (the dot) to prepping the trigger. I have found this allows me to track the dot better.
@@brianhill9639 Thanks for the answer! I was wondering if this was important for CCW training in regards to shoot/not shoot. My mindset is that I'm never going to draw unless I've already committed in my mind that this is a legal and defensible use of force which would justify pulling the trigger.
I would be careful with that commitment, my friend. There are plenty of times where you want to have the gun in hand, even the gun at low ready or guard, when you are not quite ready to press the trigger.
@@ASPextra Thank you! I appreciate the advice. I'm hopeful that if that scenario ever presented itself, I would see the perp turn and run or become a non-issue. I learn a lot from ASP thanks so much for what you put out.
Timer recommendations, please. It's not wet where I live in Coastal Southern California. I'd like something that I can use like you are using, for dry fire practice, and live fire. Thanks!
the AMG Labs Commander is the only one I know sensitive enough to pick up dry fire, but I prefer rangetechtimer.com for the range if it's not like Brian and you live in a tropical rainforest! :)
Very helpful, as always. As you progressed through the video, you steadily inched screen left to the point I couldn't see your hands/pistol on the draws. I would like to see your final positioning. Great content. Thank you..
I have gotten my time down to the negative numbers, and now I can go back in time so if someone draws on me I can just go back before they draw and disarm them ( : . I was in the process of teaching this to Alec Baldwin but he had an accident of some sort?.
This dude has a full time job preparing for that encounter. Idk if that's John responding to me but if u think that, than why should I invest money into any of the training u offer? If I could just get got anyway?
@@smelltv9116 that's kind of a stupid question. If you can still get into a car accident, why take a defensive driving course? If you can still have a heart attack, why eat healthy? It's about being prepared and mitigating risk. Yeah sure no matter how well trained you are there are just some fights you can't win. But we train and prepare to stack the deck in our favor. Go through the ASP channel and you will find any number of videos where a person could have either survived or avoided harm etc if they had been better trained. Something as simple as a fast efficient draw stroke can be the difference between life and death in that situation.
Of course it's unrealistic. That's not what a micro-drill is, man. It's a step in the process to myelinating the pathway. Did you see him do it without that?
Always on point Brian. Always look forward for your videos. Nice to hear you call it dry practice and not dry fire

cold I scored a 1" group in 2.84 seconds, average. Friday PM I shot a 1.34" group in 2.60 seconds. These are a textbook example of speed vs. accuracy.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Lots of gold nuggets in there.
The audio was great, and the message is wonderful. Thanks, Brian!
This is what dedicated training looks like. Nicely presented. Pun intended 😁
Best break down Ive seen. If someone follows this they WILL get there. Accuracy guy....phooey.....youre a speedster now :)
Speedster✅
I struggle big time with the Bill Drill, this will help.
Great information and instruction Brian, thank you!
Keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤️🇺🇸

Excellent sound and excellent training content keep doing what your doing I appreciate everyone over at ASP.
More to work on. My bill drills aren’t where I’d like and I think this will seriously help.
I’ve always leaned toward accuracy over speed. Need to work on this! Thanks, Brian!
Sound great!!!!! Thanks John!!!..... nice drill.
Love it! Thank you Brian!
Awesome vid and will get some of this done. I actually think the sound was better today so thanks John. Need to get my Mantis
Good stuff as always, thanks Brian!
Thanks for watching!
My Bill is not where I want it to be. Consistently sub 3, but I want to be sub 2. This will help. Thanks Brian!
Excellent Brian!
Well done

This is an excellent video lesson!
Thanks! 😃
This is great stuff. I would love to see you analyze your own draw in slow motions (mistakes, the few) included.
Great audio my friend

@@ASPextra Thanks, I ordered one. Like our business, affected by the 'supply chain' issue. I.e. the International Economic War that is under way.
Very good audio. A bit out of frame when you transitioned to the side with your drill but we can forgive you for that ;-)
I think I have that fixed now for future videos! Thanks for watching.

What would people say about this channel if John was killed during a home invasion? Just curious about opinions
Anyone can get got, dude.
People would be sad and thankful about all the lessons that he provided. What a weird question.
@@ASPextra absolutely but would people listen to ur training still?

How often are you walking around with your support hand ready to lift your shirt and dominant hand in high ready work zone. It’s unrealistic.
Micro drill for parts of the draw, and strangely we see this in real life as the nervous ready.
