I haven’t tried anything from the brand yet and I think I’ll pass. The comparison with all the other products made me realize I have something equivalent in my collection. I’d rather use what I have! Thanks Matilda! ❤
Thank you Janet! I do enjoy a lot of Violette's formulas but a few tweaks to make them easier to use for beginners would really take the brand to the next level 👏 x
Boum Boum Milk is still the star for me. I picked up more Yeux Paints as the colours are to eyes what Lisa Eldridge's are to lips - a tweak on the everyday that you don't find anywhere else. They are such a faffy mess to work with though. The about-face paints are effortless, a joy to apply, and much longer wearing. Also, the highlighter lifts any makeup under it, no matter how carefully I apply it. Nothing beats the Chanel!
Thank you for sharing this mini review Ottilie! Very good point about the Yeux Paint shade range 🎨👏 The about-face liquid shadows have been on my wishlist! x
Thank you for sharing her other products. I think I definitely will look into your highlighter recommendation. I personally love the bisou balm. It felt very comfortable on my lips and I have thin lips so i can easily build up and shape gradually with a pencil without so much blotting and corrections like I would with other matte or bold lipsticks.
It was great to see the comparisons here between the eyeshadows. I’ve thought about these but probably will give them a miss after this review thanks! I think you’ve done the “one and done” shadows in the past but there are so many new options in this category lately and as a (almost) exclusively one-and-done shadow wearer, I’d love your updated thoughts!
I was pleased to see the brand in Mecca after seeing them on your channel! I got a couple of the Yeux Paints, i didn't find them that hard to work with and do use more than a dot, do a line along my lashes and blend up. I got a blush in Ines, I like it, probably still prefer the Nude Stix blushes. And I got a Bisou Balm in Betise, At first I didn't like the balm at all, too dry for my liking but it is growing on me with a lip balm under it. It was fun to try a new brand.
Sounds like a great selection Julia! You're quite right that a swipe along the lash line works well too, but I like to say start with a dot to help manage people's expectations so they don't apply too much too soon and get in a mess! 😅 x
The lipsticks caught my eye because I always love a matte blotted look, especially one that wears away nicely, but I think I will continue my search in favour for something more warm toned. Thanks for your review!
If you’re okay with a velvety finish Rom&nd has some really nice alternatives like their Milk tea velvet tints! I find it gives similar blotted finishes
All these products look fantastic, unfortunately I have so much other make up products to use that for the time being I have to wait. But so gorgeous I love it!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh , lovely play of textures. Personally I think rom& zero tint in velvet fizz is a good color dupe for petal bouche. The formula never sets but it's mousse blurry staining formula that is excelent. Long wear non drying , velvet look and feel. I love the look of violette fr but nothing is available to me so I will live vicariously through my bobbi brown and k beauty dupes
Oh no Anca, I'm working on a K-Beauty video right now and wish I'd had your suggestion earlier to include! I'll have to save it for next time, thank you 😄💄 x
I enjoyed the Boum Boum Milk and will repurchase at some point but I want to try the Lisa Eldridge first. The Yeux paint in sparkly navy had potential but it does dry out and the sparkles crumble, but to be fair I have had it for awhile. Works better as a liner for me. The bisou balm was the absolute star for me. I loved the unique texture and finish. Not sure why they would have reformulated. I also don’t like the new shape though of course that is just aesthetics. I will repurchase when my tube is done and hope I like the new formula. I agree with others that somehow this line should be better than it is. I love Violette’s approach to makeup.
Ooh yes, Lisa's skincare is on my wishlist! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the formulas ☺️ Please report back when you try the new Bisou Balm feel! x
thank you for the thorough review! i've also struggled so much with violette's brand because i've followed her from the OG days of her doing makeup at cafes. i want to love it so much but a lot of it falls short (and expensive!) and i feel like a lot of her products are easily dupable -- all except the yeux paints, which i actually really love! i do prefer the twinkly shades over the mattes. the mattes are so difficult to blend. and i'm also trying out boum boum milk for the second time and actually kind of like it this year. maybe i'll get the giant refill. thanks again
i feel like the way u described the lipsticks is the same feeling as the glossier generation g! those are slightly flat and dry but if you put lipbalm its perfect!
I like BBM better, because it does feel like a moisturizer. I only used that in the summer. Also I find C’est la cream is dewy, but not overly, and yet sooo moisturizing. My skin is reborn…
I’ve been curious about these products but not really sure if it would even work on my warm toned brown south Asian skin. Probably the eye shadows would work on me
Thank you for sharing your experience with Violette_fr. I really like Violette's beauty philosophy and learned a lot from her videos. However, her products always left me underwhelmed. The marketing is great, which made me buy them in the first place. In using the products (Boum Boum Milk Skin Mist, Bisou Balm Lip Colour, Baume Shine Highlighter, and Avec Amour Perfume), I have been left disappointed by the quality. The lip colours and highlighter had a grainy texture and flaked quite a bit. The mist did nothing special. I used a whole bottle up in my daily routine for a couple of months. The perfume smells nice and I will keep using it, but won't repurchase. I likely won't repurchase any of her products. But I will continue to watch her videos, at this point. :)
Thank you for sharing *your* experience Nicole! I think a lot of people are in the same boat and feel like a few improvements would help the brand. We love Violette's style and her work so much, so we only want the best for her and anything she launches! ❤️ x
I tried the lavender eyeshadow. It is extremely hard to blend. The red bisu balm also is really underwhelming. Not comfortable on the lips😢. I prefer the lip blush from Refy for a matte finish. They are soooo comfortable and hydrating.
Ooh such a great question, I should've mentioned these too! Similar style but EM Cosmetics feels a bit more creamy and whipped, and a *lot* more pigmented. Not sure if Violette's pink and berry blush shades are a bit stronger than this one though! 🍓 x
Matilda, do you have a video with the Chanel baume swatches in other colors? I’m a little more golden than you and I’d like to try a product like this.
I do Jess, a very recent one! I swatched Sculpting, Transparent and Ensoleillé (an old peachy shade) next to each other in my Emily Blunt Makeup Bag video linked below this one ✨ Might need to do a separate swatching video focusing on them as I've collected others too, can't resist the formula! x
Me too River, love the aesthetic! I think a few tweaks to make the formulas more user-friendly and approachable for beginners would help her excel ⭐️ x
This review and the comments under it makes me so sad for Viollete even tho its mostly true. I follow her since her very beginning and I wanted her products to be more that this....
Their red matte lipstick was such a disappointment. The color is amazing but it was the weirdest, patchiest formula. There are drugstore products far superior, so I really hope they improved that formula.
A tighter opening would help too to scrape all that extra product off, way too much to work with Manda! I haven't heard anything about the Petal Bouche formula changing unlike the balms, but not 100% sure 💄 x
I do think the blush has become my favourite formula from the brand! But it shows you how high blush sticks are priced are in general.. This one isn't as much as Charlotte Tilbury or ILIA but is around that range, then Westman Atelier's is $21 AUD more 😳 x
I had a rash and skin burn from the blush so I can't recommend it. I don't like the lip balm scent and taste. They could have put a little bit of vanilin in there it's far too raw. Lip balm color is cute but not worth the price.
I haven’t tried anything from the brand yet and I think I’ll pass. The comparison with all the other products made me realize I have something equivalent in my collection. I’d rather use what I have! Thanks Matilda! ❤
I'm so glad it was helpful! Good to hear you can make use of what you have ☺️👍 x

Love the review and comparisons Matilda. Really appreciate you mentioning the fragrance too, as that's a deal breaker for me ❤
Thank you Ash! So glad it was helpful, scent and all 😅 x
Same! And I esp. hate vanilla!
thanks so much for your honest review and giving us alternatives!😊
My pleasure Samantha, thank *you* for watching! ☺️ x
Thank you for showing alternatives. xoxo
My pleasure! Hope it was helpful ☺️ x
Violette_fr might be my new favourite brand!
Violet and Violette were meant to be! 😄👏 x

been watching you for years! your videos are always so helpful
Thank you for being here for so long! Can't tell you how much it means 🥰 x
I just saw this brand release at Mecca so I'm really glad you did this review! I think I'll have to go buy a blush stick, they look stunning
Thank you Danielle, so glad this was your kind of video! 😄❤️ x

She has two new liquid eyeshadows that look beautiful. Dieu Bleu and Nuage de Lilas
Loved this review and revisit! A wonderfully done video as always! 😍🥰

Wearing away evenly is often the tricky part, isn't it Megan! Luckily Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour fills that role for me 😍💄 x
If you’re okay with a velvety finish Rom&nd has some really nice alternatives like their Milk tea velvet tints! I find it gives similar blotted finishes
Thanks! I love her bisou lip balm in Sucette… a beautiful raspberry tone!
Thanks for watching Wendy! Ooh that sounds lovely 🍓 (we need a raspberry emoji!) x
I have. Even watching Matilda for some time. I am really sitting on this brand. I keep wanting to try but it’s just so much money!!
Always great advice and, beautiful makeup videos! 🤩
Thank you Isabelle! Always appreciate your support 🥰 x

I love that the blush has a built-in brush, it would be great for when I'm out somewhere and can't wash my hands!

her skin care products are much better than the makeup
i feel like the way u described the lipsticks is the same feeling as the glossier generation g! those are slightly flat and dry but if you put lipbalm its perfect!
Good point! The powdery feel is a bit different with these but a similar effect overall, and balm definitely helps in both cases 😄👍 x

What a treat, Matilda 🥰 Posting on a public holiday! Really great overview and a great reference point for updated comparisons 🥰
Thank you Kat, had to set my alarm for this one 😉 So glad you enjoyed it, and hope you enjoyed your holiday Monday too! x

Same! Her products are so underwhelming and the fragrance in the blushes is just too much for me!
You should do an updated video on this brand she has many more products now including more shades with her Bisou balms 👄💋💄
I tried the lavender eyeshadow. It is extremely hard to blend. The red bisu balm also is really underwhelming. Not comfortable on the lips😢.
I prefer the lip blush from Refy for a matte finish. They are soooo comfortable and hydrating.
Ooh interesting Asi, thank you for sharing that about the lavender shade! The REFY formula is already on my shopping list 😍 x
@@matildaonvideo I think you will love it if you have dry lips like me, they are so good i’m obsessed ☺️
U saying balmy is so soothing
Haha thank you! Luckily it comes up a lot in my makeup style 😂 x
Mecca has Clinique black honey pop blush!!!!!❤❤❤❤
How does the bisou blush stick compare to the emcosmetics blush sticks?
Ooh such a great question, I should've mentioned these too! Similar style but EM Cosmetics feels a bit more creamy and whipped, and a *lot* more pigmented. Not sure if Violette's pink and berry blush shades are a bit stronger than this one though! 🍓 x

Thank you! A lovely fast-drying red ❤️💅 x
Absolutely ❤this company

@@matildaonvideo agree.
Great video
Thank you Kirsty! ☺️ x
@@matildaonvideo your welcome
I have the lip Baum it’s not hydrating but looks great on cheeks too. I like it. If you like wet glossy stuff u won’t like it
This review and the comments under it makes me so sad for Viollete even tho its mostly true. I follow her since her very beginning and I wanted her products to be more that this....
I know the fr is for france but I’m my head I always read it Violettle for real. Like fr violette really babe? Maybe I’m too online 😂
I love this interpretation so much Mairyn 😂👏 x

35dollars for a marbled blush??? From a well known luxury brand, I can understand, but this "brand", NO!
The products are mediocre (nothing ground breaking), expensive, and the return policy is horrible--so for those reasons, I'm out.
I think I’ll pass on this line
If this video played a part in helping you save money, I'm happy! ☺️ Thank you for watching x
@@matildaonvideo - yes. It helped me make a good decision.
Overpriced, overrated cosmetics and they don't even offer returns on their website. No thanks.
Appreciate you watching anyway! 😄 x
The skincare is quite overpriced for what it is, in my opinion.
It is quite pricey! Particularly the moisturiser which won't be going on my repeat list sadly, too many other textures I enjoy more 🤍 x
