Really appreciate you showing both sides and that you did this without the level 9 or 10 gear like so many other so called guides. It is messy, but that’s what makes it fun, we make it our own
Great guide. Really brought back some memories. Quick Warning for new players. Part of the fun if your playing with a group of other new players is to figure this mission out on your own. Work as a team and think through the battle and use the tools you have like subsystem targeting. Well done Napyet!
Are you going to do anymore galaxies videos? I think it would be awesome if you did like an entire playthrough on a new character and maybe you would attract some more new players again.
Here is a trick to the corvette without the corvette or gunships shooting at you once and all you need to remember is where the blindspots are. You will also have to load up a Proton Missile Launcher on your ship before starting the mission. First you clear out the fighter screen (If you want to use pilot abilities to help, using them on the fighters is the best time). After the fighters are cleared, fly underneath the gunships to kill them while in their blindspot. Both rebel and imp gunboats have a blind spot below and behind them (blindspot is larger on the rebel than it is on the imperial). Just park in place, shoot a bit, then reposition when they move out of range. If you like you can take out the reactor/engine first to make it stop moving then you don't need to worry about repositioning while you whittle down the gunship if you have less powerful lasers. Now after the escort is gone you fly in straight behind the corvette's engines and match it's speed after you are in range. There is a blind spot here where it can't shoot you. Target the shield 1 and shield 2 subcomponents and launch your missiles (Your missiles will fly straight through the corvette and hit the subcomponent you have targeted). 2 mark 3 proton missiles should take out each component. After the shields are down shoot the engines with your blasters and come to a stop with the ship. Lastly you use the missiles on the reactor and bridge. 8 missiles should take down the corvette and if done right the guns will not shoot at you once. It's a great way to take out the corvette if you are not that confident in your ship being able to stand up to those more powerful gunship/corvette guns. The only ships you will have to actually fight are the fighter escorts, the big guys never even get a chance to shoot back. The hardest part is you have to attack when the convoy is between turns. If they start to turn you need to boost away ASAP and wait for them to settle down into formation again or it will all go crazy.
For those curious, deepwell capacitors are collections rewards. The parts are easy to get, and often not worth much, but its 1/per character than makes them valuable. Once you have the schematic you can easily get it crafted by a high-end shipwright
great vid. now I just gotta get through the kill 30 section to get TO the corvette... sploded 6 times now with around 15 kills and have to restart each time.
I ran twin Borstels in my JSF back on live. For imperials, you can just call in the bombers to keep the other craft busy whilst you take out the vette. Ofcourse, always clear the other craft once youve got your badge, to help with the respawn for other players ;)
Something to note, the front and back shields have different health pools so when attacking something you typically want to focus on the front or back to get through quicker. It may seem weird not to shoot something the moment you see it cross your path but waiting to make sure you hit the same spot (front or back half of the ship) can save time, and possibly your ship in certain situations. It's a bit weird how it works as well, because you have to be behind it to hit the rear shields, even if you're hitting the back of the ship during a jousting pass.
Protons make it go faster. A lot faster. No need for line of sight. Admittedly, the one down side is locking on. It can take a second and you do have to be pointed at the ship, if not the component you're taking out.
Just as a side note, this was not by any means the most difficult pilot mission in the game. There's was space station where you can get a unique heavy fighter engine blueprint, (it's been years, so the name escapes me) where if you complete an extremely difficult mission, you get a single heavy fighter engine blueprint... a VERY high spec one. This mission is both extremely difficult, and NOT repeatable, so only a few people completed it... making this particular engine VERY rare. However, that is NOT the hardest piloting mission, but only the prelude. You could go farther, doing work for this same station, and get a mission to defeat a "pirate lord" or something (I forget his name). He had a unique ship... faster and much more dangerous than any gunboat, and he was escorted by 6 groups of ships, each with a level 10 gunboat and, a couple POB sized ships, and I think... six level 10 fighters? So... somewhere in the neighborhood of 40+ level 10 ships, including the leader in his capital ship. If you beat that mission... (which I did in my Advanced X-wing) you could go to that spacestation and do a repeatable (and rather simple) quest that would give you as many of those high spec heavy fighter engine blueprints as you wanted. I would sell those for... I think around 10 million? Enough to buy all the parts for a maxed out ship, pretty much. Eventually most of the really good pilots bought one of my blueprints, and then they too had fighter engines as good as mine. But that only made the PVP more fun. But nobody else in my Galaxy ever beat that particular mission to my knowledge.
Hi Napyet. Your guide are second to none, as always. About the fast firing rate; I would love to get those guns in my JSF/Xwing to fire as fast as your, How do I do that? How do you unlink the guns so it fire "inter-fire mode" to create a fast firing effect? Thanks in advance.
With my Advanced X-wing, I programmed a macro that would fire each of the three guns in it at the quickest possible interval for each gun to fire without stalling, so that they'd fire a 9 round 'burst' in a spiral of laser death, and linked that macro to my trigger. So... burst fire. Worked great for PVP too.
challenger784ify Ah, sorry. That was back before the Servers all shut down. I haven’t replicated it. If I remember correctly, there is a command that will, say, activate something for you after a preset delay... and I just set my guns to fire nine times with the shortest delay possible. I did a few tests and adjusted things by a tenth of a second here or there to get the best performance.
I've done this particular mission a few dozen times, first to get myself up to Master Pilot in every faction, then for the rewards. Always solo for my own purposes, but after awhile I started offering my services to pilots that wanted to finish this mission but didn't have the skill or experience to manage it solo. In my advanced X-Wing (my ship of choice, usually), this mission took me about a minute and a half once I'd cleared the escort away. And I almost always used the method shown in this video, or a close approximation. A Jedi-Starfighter doing this mission however, is practically cheating. My record, I believe, was when I flew a spiral around the Corvette, took every sub system out in one pass, ended up in front of the bridge and finished the entire ship off in 16 seconds flat. The Jedi-Starfighter is simply so fast and maneuverable that the Corvette can't hit you if you're changing your velocity vector constantly. Although I admit, that particular performance was after years dog fighting against other players in our "Monday Night Fights", so I was pretty seasoned at that point.
When taking a group to do this... after a while my instructions to the group were usually "stay back out of range and watch." Because it was a lot easier for me to solo this mission than try and keep the other players alive long enough for them to 'help' me do so. And, frankly, quicker, since I wouldn't have to worry about the inexperienced pilots in the group.
It's foolish to have all those shunts drop them all and run shield shunt 3 has a slower cool down timer and run rebal commands of shield reinforment front/back moderate

Great point that I should have mentioned in the guide! Soloing is a challenge but half the fun of this game is grouping up.

Just finished soloing storm squadron. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the info Tyler - you guys paying attention to these great comments?!?!?!?! It's like another wiki down here!
Gonna use this guide. Thank you for explaining
Everyone was so helpful back in the day
One of the best guides I’ve see . We’ll done.

Been really enjoying your content and Legends lately :)
This was probably my favorite and most hated quest I ever had to do.
So many memories.

Wow excellent guide! Thank you
Cheers Andrew, glad you liked it!
excellent guide! I think i'm going to try this in an A-wing

A tactic I used to use, was to disable the corvettes engines and let the gunboats fly past

It's those damned gunboats that always gave me trouble. I busted the 'Vette in Kashyyyk in a Ywing Longprobe
can you do a guide about ship component, how to choose them, what are the best ones ? etc
Big nostalgie :)

Yeah, I have them on different buttons, usually mouse 1 & 2, so it creates a rapid-fire effect!

Ahh thanks, was hoping there is a settup/macro that let you hold down the trigger and it will fire that way
Thanks

would an x wing be ultimately better for this?
I just got to this point in the game and I can't get a crew together to help me out
Try asking in Discord or in Mos Eisley for help.
I'm no match for this fight.. wish I had a group of help lol
