Nice thumbnail I was searching stake anvils. Did not disappoint! Hahaha. Great video! Minimal fabricating tools to make a beautiful lil anvil from the trash to treasure in an hour. The only question is: did you cook that steak in your forge!!!
Hi there. I hope this comes across as constructive criticism, but you used an anvil to make this anvil, sir. I imagine a portion of your audience was interested in this as a "first anvil" type of affair, so, there's that. Great video, though, keep at it.
Most people giving blacksmithing a serious attempt at starting have access to an anvil or a friend with an anvil. You dont need a London pattern anvil to start on. That is the anvil everyone thinks of. The London pattern anvil design is only about 300 years old. All that an anvil needs to be is some item harder than glowing orange/yellow steel. You can use a piece of oak. It might not last as long as something else but it is an option. Now days you can use any piece of steel to start out with as an anvil. if you noticed he used the little stake anvil to taper the piece of rod. That thing was about an inch wide. You could easily just put a sledge hammer head or a chunk of random steel on a log to raise it up to a nice working height.
Thanks for the video, I always enjoy! 👍
Thankyou.... Share it round...👍
