Sir Topham Hatt says he will be getting rest for the foreseeable future. It’s Thomas’s reply that stands out to me. Engines can’t be fired from their job. They can be relieved of their duties or moved somewhere else but they can’t be fired. As far as they know, once something has outlived it’s usefulness, the next stage is scrapping. Thankfully, it all works out in the end for Cyril.

I like to think that Mavis's growth came from saving Toby. She realized that silly little tricks can put somebody's life in danger, and to never have something like ever happen again, she needs to take her job seriously.
On the one hand, I miss Mavis' fiesty tomboy who thought she was better than every-one else. But on the other, I get the need for character development. I just don't think Mavis' arc was as "organic" as Thomas' and a bit more forced. Still not as bad as Edward's character change, I guess.
If some people are not going to call S6-7 as Classic seasons, then why can't they just call them their own era as "The Gullane era"? And given the fact Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell still scored the music until Season 7, David Mitton directed most of the show until you know what (Steve Asquith directed the Pack episodes), and Britt Allcroft (albeit uncredited) was executive producer for Season 6 along with Peter Urie and a creative consultant for Season 7. It seems redundant to not call them as such.
@@BriceInkling138 I agree. 6 & 7 are classic in my mind. Mitton is what made the show special, and the direction, set design, music, and model work was still fantastic, so it's all good in my eyes.

I love the addition of Salty, episodes like "Salty's Secret" and "Gordon Takes a Tumble" are some of my favorites in the show, and Alec Baldwin still does a great job as the narrator. To an extent, I can agree. The most exposure I had to this season was the Red Balloon VHS. Kinda unsettling that means it was also my first exposure to the Skarloey engines. I liked the stories, but now think they were better in 4/5. It would make more sense for Rusty to want to give up instead of Skarloey, but whatever, whole episode doesn’t make sense now.
I still remember watching Jack Frost for the first time as a kid. I think episodes like that and It’s Only Snow contributed to winter being by favorite season.
@@David_Mattox Actually that VHS was one of the first I ever had. When I was four, I would watch it until I fell asleep almost every night. I think I actually wore it out. 😅

I always found Season 6 to be so fascinating and exciting. Kind of wished we got more episodes with characters like Oliver, Toad, Duck, Stepney and even Peter Sam and BoCo.
It was very strange, especially with Oliver and Toad having been as prominent in the last ten years. Still, at least this series brought Donald & Douglas, Edward and even Diesel back to the forefront!
Alec Baldwin really dropped the ball this season because he was going through a nasty divorce from Kim Basinger and the colossal bomb that was Magic Railroad

Welcome back, Mr. Unlucky Tug! I missed all your retrospective videos of the entire Thomas series for quite some time and can finally revisit your peak work from the year prior. Sorry you’ve been falling behind on schedule, but I’m glad you’re able to make a comeback. So, here’s to an ongoing future of inspiring me as much as animation expert AniMat.
How did I never realise until now that Salty referenced the USS Maine blowing up? As a history buff, I find that hilarious such a reference made it in🤣
As someone born in 2000, Season 6 was probably the season I grew up with the most on DVD/VHS, sprinkling in Season 5 or 7 episodes on there as well. I loved it growing up, and still do to an extent. Season 6 to me is the Cartoonish season. The season's biggest flaw to me is its cartoonish nature. There are multiple instances of characters doing foolish things that you'd expect to see Yosemite Sam, Bugs Bunny, any of the Looney Tunes gang do, not Thomas The Tank Engine. Duncan going up the incline and acting like an idiot before flying and falling into a swamp, Diesel not putting 2+2 together when trying to pull the troublesome trucks and falling off the edge into a barge, Thomas flying down the tracks with a Jet Engine (entertaining and funny, but still cartoonish), Percy getting afraid of.... gnomes...., James dealing with a Red Balloon crashing down on him, Percy crashing into a chocolate factory, Gordon derailing and having a ridiculous minute long crash into a farm... Thomas for its first five seasons was a show that rode the line of realism, but things like the Jet Engine and Chocolate Factory crash were very unrealistic. With that said, Season 6 did at least have the heart and soul of Seasons 1-5, and that's mainly the reason I look back fondly on it.
@@gnnascarfan2410 season 6 kinda toned down the unrealism of the previous season. It was mainly going for the more laid back relaxing vibe of the first 4 seasons.
Season 6 just has some charm to it. I love the visuals, and the episodes are fun! The more "industrial" look isn't that bad in my opinion. Thomas and the Jet Engine is probably THE best episode of this season for me. Season 6 is fantastic
I’ll always have a soft spot for this season, as it was the first one I was watching as it was on TV, since Season 5 premiered a year after I was born. Season 2 is my favorite, but the Baldwin seasons I like a lot, too. His and Carlin’s voice will always be so soothing to me. Much Love, God Bless from Iowa, Tug!
Ah Yes! Season Six! Nostalgic for some! Aged Poorly for Others! Responsible for introducing hands down one of the best Non-Awdry Characters ever created! Salty singlehandedly redeems the whole season for me and I still can't get enough of Salty's Pirate Voice!
It’s great to have you back to back on track (haha) making original content again! The Jet Engine episode has to be my favorite from season 6 because it’s a fun “what if” scenario… even if the locomotives are really multiple hundreds of tons and it’s probably not likely a heavy steam engine could have been rocketed along the rails that quickly anyways.
I grew up with Season 6. Episodes like “Percy’s Chocolate Crunch” and “Gordon Takes A Tumble” were some of my favourites back then. Although I’m not the biggest season 6 fan, I do enjoy revisiting it from time to time, as there were a lot of great stories. Tug, psyched to see you’re moving forward with new content. Me, and I know many others will all be sticking around for the ride
There seems to be this unreleased archive of Brandon narrations for Season Six and Seven, along with variations using the original or Hit revised soundtracks.
I think the reason so many people are connected to this season is because its when the series really started going all out in terms of marketing thanks to the global popularity of the movie. DVDs, toys, that was when the marketing REALLY expanded itself and for a lot of people that era was their first exposure
The Unlucky Tug's original videos have made a grand return, and boy did they come back with a bang. Season 6 is kinda whatever in comparison to the previous season, but it did bring me some great memories with episodes like Scaredy Engines. Super happy to know that quite a few of your old videos are on this Drive archive, and I hope to see more added to it, as I know myself and other people have indeed saved the ones currently not on the Drive yet, like your favorite 10 episodes, thoughts on JBS, TAB, etc. I truly am excited for where this channel will lead to next.
Finally, we can resume the Thomas Retrospective!!! Having been born in 2001, season 6 holds some fond memories for me (so does most of the model season but still).
The season that introduced me to Thomas!!! Man this brought back so many great memories. Easily one of my favorite seasons for that reason. Really great work Tug
This is the first of all Thomas seasons where fans do NOT unitedly agree that this is the one of the best, golden, untouchable seasons. The first 5 seasons are all on that list, but not Season 6. This is why I have been looking forward to this retrospective the most.
Season 6 was “technically” my first season. I was born in 1997 and I was too young to watch season 5 when it came out, but TATMR came out and that basically got me addicted to Thomas. Season 6 came out shortly after and I loved it as a kid. Nowadays as an adult, I have a distinct nostalgic fondness for it but as you said in your review, the cracks definitely show.
I feel bad for you. You should’ve watch season 5 first. That season is superior and was the last legit Classic series season because it’s made before the year 2000. Classic = old
@@thecaledoniansleeper2648 Season 6 was being marketed by the time I was old enough to sit down and watch Thomas post TATMR. It wasn’t until later years that I discovered earlier seasons.
I was also born in 97, but unlike you I didn’t see Thomas on tv until years later. Instead my mom would read the rws to me when I was 2-3 years old and my first exposure to the tv series was magic railroad in theaters, although I barely remember that day. I was also lucky enough to have seen episodes of s1-3 on vhs after that when I was 4-6 years old. Shortly after I would witness s4-5 on vhs.
The grand return! Glad these are continuing, Tug! You’re a saint for keeping so dedicated to all of these amazing projects! Hope all is well in your personal life and God Speed! Can’t wait to see what you have for us in the future, now that all the re-uploads are done…
"It's good to be back!" Said Edward Also, I realize that season 6 has lots of similarities to the Brenner era if you think about it. One is just with models and one is cgi
Great to see these videos coming, Tug! And it's great to see The Thomas Retrospective episodes continuing on as per usual. Keep up the content you always do, bro!
@7:50 I practically jumped up thinking "am I really hearing the title from NITW?" Glad to hear someone using some of Alec's legendary soundtrack, hope to hear it's use more in the future!
The Jet Engine episode will always be my favourite season 6 episode. I will admit it was a bit unrealistic. But combining with how bizarre, thrilling and funny the episode was, it really did kept me engaged with the story. Also Michael Angelis really did gave his best. I genuinely love how energetic and enthusiastic he was in the episode, it really did sounded like he having so much fun with the story, this is why Angelis had always be my favourite Thomas narrator. While the jet engine episode really isn't a perfect episode, but still it was the one that stood out to me than most the season 6 episodes, and it never left my mind since.
Being a 2005 kid and having seen thomas from season 6 onwards till 11 on tv, this has such a golden place in my heart. Seeing steam engines just talking and being so real was the best thing the kid version of me could ever witness. But if u ask me now, i would say the golden era was much better framed and stuff. Oh well, im 18 and i still at ramdom tkmes watch a random episode of thomas without hesitation ❤😂
Yeah, I can agree with most of your criticisms here for season 6. Not a bad season imo, but not the best either. However, I personally love that they started referring to locations by name instead of generic titles. Yeah, maybe it was a corporate thing to sell toys, but it also just makes the world feel a lot more lived-in and tangible to me.
It’s really shitty that you lost your channel, I’m so glad that you didn’t give up the channel and continuing it by making a new channel, seriously, you put alotta effort in your videos and please never stop. Good job on this video man! - CTTE06 💙
Season 6 definitely doesn’t hold a candle compared to Season 5, but I remember it having the best episodes that were marketed at the time I was little. I originally watched the show during the release of Seasons 11-13, so Seasons 6 & 7 were a shining beacon of quality and entertainment for me. Episodes such as Gordon Takes A Tumble will always have a soft spot in my heart.
Also for me, "Thomas and the Jet Engine" and "Percy's Chocolate Crunch" because of how ridiculous and memorable they were. Don't tell me you didn't want to recreate those crashes yourself lol
Dude I LOVE these retrospective videos! I didn’t care for them on the original channel but after watching them, these are AWESOME! I’m excited to watch the premiere of the first new video since the channel deletion :DD
I’m definitely glad you’re still around and most of your work has been saved. Your absolutely one of my favorite creators on RUclips and you have articulated into words & video what I’ve always felt about Thomas and friends. So thank you 😊 Also glad that this is not the end but merely a continuation. See you later 👋 & good luck 🍀👍
1:26 - don't know if it was just me, but I couldn't help but have a smile on my face listening to the music in this part of the video. Sounded like the pvz theme :)
At least "Edward the Really Useful Engine" gave us one of my favourite RUclips Poops. "The engines on the Island of Souos are good at being TRXN's playthings. Gordon is a good station demolition man. Percy is good at NOTHING. And when he's not pulling trucks, Edward is a good bastard." "Retired means taken out of service." "Why the fuck are you smiling you sadistic bastard." "Duck found a Muk while playing Pokémon Go."
This season had some of my favorite Thomas episodes. Thomas and the Jet Engine, A friend in need, Worlds Strongest engine. These were some of the first Thomas episodes I watched through RUclips and have fond memories of
Probably my most unpopular take is that Seasons 6 and 7 are my favorite seasons overall. Not the best seasons by any means, be it in a cinematography or character sense, but they just draw me in. Season 6 and its drab atmosphere reminds me of home. I live in Ireland it is quite desaturated and gray a lot. Season 7 has a laid back and quiet feeling to it, making it soothing to watch. They just make me feel at ease.
So happy you're back despite your misfortunes. You're my favorite Thomas RUclipsr, and one of my favorites in general. I look forward to your future videos. :)
32:03 Another reason why Percy's Choclate Crunch could be called the sum up is because of how much merch of it was made. I mean there's was a Trackmaster version, a Plarail version, a Trackmaster Revolution version, a Take Along, Wooden Railway. If some Season 6 episodes were made to sell toys, Percy's Chocolate Crunch is 100% one of them.
Season 6 was really where i was old enough to really remember alot of it. And for some reason as a kid and even today Percy’s Chocolate Crunch has always been my favorite episode of the entire series. Idk why i just always revert back to that episode when i think about this show
Season 6 was THE favorite season for me of Thomas and Friends. From Devious Diesel’s “The World’s Strongest Engine” to Salty’s entrance in “Salty’s Secret” to “James and the Big Red Balloon” 🎈 to Donald and Douglass’ “Twin Trouble” and so on>>>
I have a lot of nostalgia for Season Six. It was the first new season that was coming out after I was born, so the US Season Six releases were my first "brand new" episodes of Thomas, and even to this day, I still love this season. It's probably my fourth favorite season of the show.
For me, Salty is right alongside Duck, Cranky, and Murdoch as characters who I have enjoyed ever since their introductions. And Salty being paired with Cranky just made both of them that much better. Looking forward to the Top 10 Hidden Gems video. I’m curious to see what you consider hidden gems.
I did remember having a dvd copy of Thomas and the Jet Engine and for reasons unclear I didn’t know that Alec Baldwin did the narrations. Mostly because I was attached to Michael Brandon’s narrations.
It is the only release to feature episodes from Season 7 with Michael Brandon narrating alongside the Original Music, making those 3 episodes Classic material in the US (which I prefer listening to, and not their later Hit Style with the New Music).
Season 6 is still an enjoyable season, but it's very much where Thomas truly became a kids show, instead of something serious that had lots of respect for itself and it's audience.
@FanofCityWok It definitely got worse, but to me even the jack and the pack episodes felt more childish. Like, it was always something that kids could enjoy, and that was always the primary target audience, but even in seasons 6 and 7 it felt that was the only target audience rather than just a target audience, at least to me.
Honestly season 6 is probably my favorite classic season of Thomas because it was the first new season that came out when I was a really little kid. I’ll admit it’s not perfect, like the inconsistencies but I didn’t know this was the sixth season back then so it didn’t bother me.
Despite its flaws, Season Six will always hold a special place in my childhood. During its premiere in Australia, my parents recorded many of the episodes on VHS. As a result, it was the first Thomas series I was exposed to.
Glad you're back! Despite your recent setbacks with the channel getting deleted and having to start over, I know you will grow bigger and better than before!
Imagine someone who just discovered The Unlucky Tug and not knowing the situation. They'll wonder how you made so many high quality videos in a short amount of time 😂
Wow, this was interesting. Season Six has always been a complex season due to the factors of Narration from the US and the new form of filming. But it was very educational in actually getting some further information I never knew before, like how the names of places on Sodor started in this season. Never knew that ever. So, yeah, and also great first new vid on the channel. When I heard what happened to the previous one I thought it was fake at first but once I saw everything I could not believe it. But that is in the past and you have made a comeback once more with the new channel all I have to say is god bless you and hope for a bright future for your channel. Hope you have a good one.
I remember watching this as a kid. I remember a lot of the episodes from my child hood. Dispite the down grade it’s a decent season. Good to here some updated information about the channel hope you get it back.
Ya know, I've always liked this one. Seven too. They still have Mitton at the helm, so they're still classic in my mind. Once the show lost him it lost that special something that made it great. The guy was a genius and even the two seasons he did that were obviously lower budget than the five before them were still fantastic.
And is it a bad or good thing?🤔 I would say that (like Tug) the story's and consistency took a hit, and I myself think it's a shame too that the environment and detail of it also took a hit. I also really hate/dislike the decision to stick with the mat colors instead of repainting the models back to their glossy and more realistic state. Surely a more capitalistic approach to the series. Like Adwdry said, when we take Thomas to America they will ruin it.
One more dishonorable mention is the twin trouble episode because Donald and Douglas are portrayed more like Bill and Ben especially when the narrator says they always work together at the Start of the episode when they've clearly had their own solo appearances in the earlier series.
You really summed up all my feelings on season 6. I too fell off around this time so I was never sure if I had mixed feelings because I didn’t grow up with it or because of an objective change. It never occurred to me that the new yearly schedule would have been the major cause of the decline, makes perfect sense.
Despite the drop in quality and lack of real life influences, Season 6 in my opinion is still fairly decent enough to say that it's what modern Thomas & Friends should at least aspire to be.... minus the character flanderizations.
@Unlucky Tug: 0:49 Yeah, I went through that, too. I grew out of it, for a time, but here I am 5 years later, back to loving the series that I grew up with.
I guess this explains why every new season took so long to make at first. People literally took the time and effort to make all of the episodes, and didn’t stress about deadlines like they did in future seasons.
That was great Tug! I appreciate the balanced view for series 6. I feel that series 6-11 are often viewed with bias in both directions when reviewed, so I am glad to see a justified view for a change. Very glad you are back on RUclips and with us again!
i don't know if this was intentional, but i love the fact that you put the title theme of one of the best anti-capitalist video games of the last decade as background music for the section where you talked about thomas dumbing itself down for a lower common denominator and generally becoming more...corporate
You know, Tug? You did make a good point about how the models in season 6 going forwards looked kinda toy like. Me personally I notice that as well. I mean the lack of metal like shining on the engines kinda explains it all.
9:55 This just put a smile on my face. I love Take Along and miss it a lot. Seeing this set (which I never got) is nostalgic 🥰 Edit: 19:12 Okay, now I’m starting to think that you grew up with Take Along as well
I'm just glad you're still ''chugging'' along, Mr. Lucky Tug, sir; your content is A+ so the fact you're still around to upload this content is fantastic! "Cheers, and keep up the good work!"
Im so glad that not only are you continuing the channel despite the set back but that you're finally posting new videos. I did go back and rewatch you're reposted videos but it's so nice to finally get back to new videos. I had been waiting so patiently for this video to come out only form it to be delayed while you rebuilt the channel. Talking about it also, for me Season 6 and 7 aren't the best obviously but given that they still had decent episodes, characters and of course great musical score I consider them Honorary classic series. They're just good enough to get a participation trophy and that's enough for me. Obviously it really doesn't get better again until many years later with the Brenner years but even then it can be a bit lacking. So for me the more season I can enjoy the better. Amazing retrospective as always given its a fair assessment of the show and I can't wait to see how you view season 7. As the season progress the less nice things will be said but still I can't wait. That's all I got and again I'm glad you're back and better than ever.
Glad to see you back my friend. Always been a big fan of your content and it helps so many content creators improve their craft. Well done my friend and thanks for the update at the end 🚂🚃

They did plan on doing stuff with those characters, but strangely it never materialised.
Yeah I agree
Same here.
Agreed.
Omg damn
intel he got marred to Hilaria
Magic Railroad had nothing to do with it, he enjoyed his time working on it.
@@buzzytrombone4353But the movie was a failure, therefore he wouldn't be that happy.
@@nordnow Doesn't matter. He enjoyed working on it with Britt.
This man knows how to stage a comeback. Tug, I'm so happy you didn't give up on RUclips even though the platform gave you every reason to. Let's see how fast we can get you back to 250K 💪💪
yeah he is pretty good doing his job i love thomas the tank engine movies and stuff and this Channel is awesome!!!! Let's go and give Yt a smack on there a$$
Welcome back, Mr.
As a history buff, I find that hilarious such a reference made it in🤣
Timestamp?
when does he reference it?
“Let’s blame the Maine on Spain!” tooted Salty, eagerly. And they did.
Season 5 has a bit of the cartoony vibe with some of its more unrealistic episodes.
@@joshuaW5621 Yeah but it does so in a clever and unforgettable way. Season 6 doesn’t really.
@@gnnascarfan2410 season 6 kinda toned down the unrealism of the previous season. It was mainly going for the more laid back relaxing vibe of the first 4 seasons.
And that toning down only got more apparent with season 7 and the following.
Season 6’s moments is where what happens if you inject some SMG4 humor into Thomas every once in a while. Percy & the Haunted Mine is retarded.
Alec Baldwin as salty was a pirate 🏴☠️ voice
It’s great to have you back to back on track (haha) making original content again! The Jet Engine episode has to be my favorite from season 6 because it’s a fun “what if” scenario… even if the locomotives are really multiple hundreds of tons and it’s probably not likely a heavy steam engine could have been rocketed along the rails that quickly anyways.
I love the Thomas and jet engine episode including the dvd 📀
If Tug liked Edward the Very Useful Engine more he'd probably say 'It's good to be back'
I grew up with Season 6.
“The SpongeBob and Squidward of Thomas.”
… Holy shit he’s right.
Who are like Squidward and SpongeBob? Gordon and Thomas?
Fun Fact: Michael Brandon surprisingly narrated No Sleep for Cranky, Gordon takes a tumble and A bad day for Harold and a little more.
There seems to be this unreleased archive of Brandon narrations for Season Six and Seven, along with variations using the original or Hit revised soundtracks.
@@e-122psi3 nah they're just re narrations made during season 9, Angelis renarrated the same season 6 episodes during that time too
I grew up on season 6 specifically. Brings back a lot of great memories and nostalgia.
Same. I grew up on just about all the classic series but season 6 always has a special place in my heart.
@@wishbonefan I grew up with Season 6 as well. Good times...
10:29 "Gordon is a very good express." He sure is.
I think the reason so many people are connected to this season is because its when the series really started going all out in terms of marketing thanks to the global popularity of the movie. DVDs, toys, that was when the marketing REALLY expanded itself and for a lot of people that era was their first exposure
I mean, I seen season 6 when I was a kid, and it was enjoyable
I can’t wait for season seven. I can’t wait for our Arthur talk
Agreed! Real Talk though, Arthur is a criminally underrated Non-Awdry character, and I wish he got to stick around.
It'll be a wonderful kind of day.
I really wish he got to stick around.
I really wish I checked in my replies here I would’ve talked earlier
The season that introduced me to Thomas!!! Man this brought back so many great memories. Easily one of my favorite seasons for that reason. Really great work Tug
This is the first of all Thomas seasons where fans do NOT unitedly agree that this is the one of the best, golden, untouchable seasons. The first 5 seasons are all on that list, but not Season 6. This is why I have been looking forward to this retrospective the most.
Actually I've seen people say that Season 5 doesn't deserve to be on that list
Season 6 was “technically” my first season. I was born in 1997 and I was too young to watch season 5 when it came out, but TATMR came out and that basically got me addicted to Thomas. Season 6 came out shortly after and I loved it as a kid. Nowadays as an adult, I have a distinct nostalgic fondness for it but as you said in your review, the cracks definitely show.
I feel bad for you. You should’ve watch season 5 first. That season is superior and was the last legit Classic series season because it’s made before the year 2000.
Classic = old
@@thecaledoniansleeper2648 Season 6 was being marketed by the time I was old enough to sit down and watch Thomas post TATMR. It wasn’t until later years that I discovered earlier seasons.
@@JustAnotherNerd850 Well anyway, Seasons 1-5 are GOAT
Percy's Chocolate Crunch is one of the few times the narrator says "No One Was Hurt" after a crash. so Percy probably has some blood on his buffers.
This Season have some of the most beautiful music yet.
"It's good to be back!" Said Edward
Also, I realize that season 6 has lots of similarities to the Brenner era if you think about it. One is just with models and one is cgi
Tug will probably make some comparisons in the Season 17 retrospective
Great to see these videos coming, Tug! And it's great to see The Thomas Retrospective episodes continuing on as per usual. Keep up the content you always do, bro!
Imagine if George joins the pack and be friends with max and Monty
@@vanessasandoval96 I would love to see a story based on that concept
@7:50 I practically jumped up thinking "am I really hearing the title from NITW?"
Glad to hear someone using some of Alec's legendary soundtrack, hope to hear it's use more in the future!
Yeah, that was a funny episode.
Angelis is my favourite narrator too
7:49 Holy crap I was NOT expecting to hear Night in the Woods music in a Thomas retrospective of all things! Great to see you back making new content!
Narrator: After 1998, the people and engines on sodor couldn't stop having flashbacks

It's ironic because RUclips allows inappropriate animations but will terminate anyone for the slightest copyright
I always liked to simulate the Gordon Takes A Tumble accident.

So glad to see you’re back, Tug. I wish nothing but the best for you and your new channel.
I have huge nostalgia for this one, as this was the first new season I remember coming out when I was little.
I did remember having a dvd copy of Thomas and the Jet Engine and for reasons unclear I didn’t know that Alec Baldwin did the narrations. Mostly because I was attached to Michael Brandon’s narrations.
Yeah I like the Alec Baldwin version of Thomas and the jet engine
@@vanessasandoval96 Same here. I mean it helps build the mood of the short.
@@inaciosthirdstudio it brought out the best performances for Baldwin and Angelis here.
Yeah, compared to nowadays, it's definitely a better watch
@FanofCityWok It definitely got worse, but to me even the jack and the pack episodes felt more childish. Like, it was always something that kids could enjoy, and that was always the primary target audience, but even in seasons 6 and 7 it felt that was the only target audience rather than just a target audience, at least to me.
Honestly season 6 is probably my favorite classic season of Thomas because it was the first new season that came out when I was a really little kid. I’ll admit it’s not perfect, like the inconsistencies but I didn’t know this was the sixth season back then so it didn’t bother me.
I think you meant to say it’s not perfect.
Oh I did! I don’t know how I missed that? thanks.
@@GumRobber my pleasure.
Despite its flaws, Season Six will always hold a special place in my childhood. During its premiere in Australia, my parents recorded many of the episodes on VHS. As a result, it was the first Thomas series I was exposed to.

Thanks!
And the MVP award, once again, goes to the green character
I remember watching this as a kid. I remember a lot of the episodes from my child hood. Dispite the down grade it’s a decent season. Good to here some updated information about the channel hope you get it back.
Ya know, I've always liked this one. Seven too. They still have Mitton at the helm, so they're still classic in my mind. Once the show lost him it lost that special something that made it great. The guy was a genius and even the two seasons he did that were obviously lower budget than the five before them were still fantastic.
I gave in to re-watching Seasons 6 and 7 for this reason. No matter what you think of their episodes' writing, the cinematography still holds up.
Season 1 was actually shot on a tight budget
Welcome back! I'm personally glad to rewatch all the episodes I've already watched a second time.
Of the post-movie seasons, Season 6 was definitely my favorite.
It was the closest to being like the classic seasons before the movie.
I’m glad Percy won the mvp award in season 6 since he’s the number 6.
Fitting that Percy, No 6, gets the MVP spot in Season 6
Glad you're back and still keep on kicking. It's been a while watching the Retrospective as well.
Thanks to Season 6, we got a new season every year than before, where it was every 2-3 years. 😊❤😂❤
And is it a bad or good thing?🤔
I would say that (like Tug) the story's and consistency took a hit, and I myself think it's a shame too that the environment and detail of it also took a hit. I also really hate/dislike the decision to stick with the mat colors instead of repainting the models back to their glossy and more realistic state.
Surely a more capitalistic approach to the series.
Like Adwdry said, when we take Thomas to America they will ruin it.
love watching these, best of luck with the new channel tug, hope everything eventually gets sorted out
One more dishonorable mention is the twin trouble episode because Donald and Douglas are portrayed more like Bill and Ben especially when the narrator says they always work together at the Start of the episode when they've clearly had their own solo appearances in the earlier series.
You really summed up all my feelings on season 6. I too fell off around this time so I was never sure if I had mixed feelings because I didn’t grow up with it or because of an objective change. It never occurred to me that the new yearly schedule would have been the major cause of the decline, makes perfect sense.
It's fitting that Percy got the MVP award in season 6, because Percy is number 6.
And hey Edward got MVP for Season Two. XD
Any other characters who are in seasons they share numbers with? Does Emily count?
@@NitroIndigo I’m not sure if Emily counts.

So glad you got your channel back dude, I missed these videos and a few of your other ones!
Calling it now: The standout episode for Season 20 is Useful Railway.
And the worst is Diesel and the Ducklings 🐥
Cool! We'll see if your predictions are right in about a decade!
i don't know if this was intentional, but i love the fact that you put the title theme of one of the best anti-capitalist video games of the last decade as background music for the section where you talked about thomas dumbing itself down for a lower common denominator and generally becoming more...corporate
You know, Tug? You did make a good point about how the models in season 6 going forwards looked kinda toy like. Me personally I notice that as well. I mean the lack of metal like shining on the engines kinda explains it all.
your editing and pacing is amazing , so glad you've decided to keep going !
9:55 This just put a smile on my face. I love Take Along and miss it a lot. Seeing this set (which I never got) is nostalgic 🥰
Edit: 19:12 Okay, now I’m starting to think that you grew up with Take Along as well
I'm just glad you're still ''chugging'' along, Mr. Lucky Tug, sir; your content is A+ so the fact you're still around to upload this content is fantastic!
"Cheers, and keep up the good work!"
Man I remember watching the U.S. version when Alex Baldwin was narrating every episode from Season 5 and 6. Nostalgia goggles on
