We asked one of the pilots how long it took to get from San Diego to El TORO. He said about 10mins. and the whole time that they over the water they where about 50 feet above it. True ? I don't know I just know the story he told us.
I lived near the Atsugi base in Japan, and the Super Hornet flew from the aircraft carrier in Yokosuka as a carrier-based aircraft and was watching the training.
I loved going to air shows with my husband and two boys. We have a friend with a beach house in Fort Morgan Alabama. We are unable to go there anymore due to health reasons. But when we used to go in the 80’s and 90’s there were some days when the Blue Angels would practice along the beach. We could hear them coming and run out to the beach. They would tip their wings at us and on occasion put the smoke on. There were times when we were the only people on the beach. It was an awesome experience. I would get chills watching them. And the air shows. The sounds and realizing how powerful those aircraft is just amazing. I loved it. Actually got to see the Space Shuttle launch quite a few times and other rockets take off. The feeling in your chest is out of this world. I actually cried after I saw my first Shuttle launch. Wish they never stopped that program. They could have built a couple more. They were work horses. Whoops got off subject. My apologies. Air shows are lots of fun that’s for sure.
i love to read others stories about their sightings. few years ago i was fishing Oroville will my cousin when two jets (wish i could decipher) flew ~500-1,000ft and we’re both zipping through the lake canyons in the most choreographed fighter-jet dance i’ve seen with my own eyes
So fun fact: During the 'high speed pass' they are booking it yes - but are not close to Mach 1.0 ( 750 mph based upon how high you are from sea level). They are actually booking closer 500 mph or closer to .8 on the Mach meter. Commercial Jets tend to fly around 300-400 mph. If you look up Navy high speed passes, you can get a better sense (as well as an actual 'Mach Pass') of the speed once an aircraft actually is on the doorstep of breaking the sound barrier. Don't get me wrong, he's hauling the mail...but that speed vs Mach .95+...is a big difference. Still awesome to see tho.

They can only go faster if they fly at a higher attitude. The F/A-18 top out at 1.8 mach. But that's at around 35,000 feet. At sea level, it can only go about 1.1 mach (due to the dense air)
@@Steve_Hayden thank you. I did not know that. My favorite plane
Those are my babies... those are my babies... every jet talks to my heart.
Kudos to engineers, who shape our future
Who shape our future? I think you mean who will destroy our future.
@@Hard2hit94 ....said the guy enjoying a multitude of comforts created by engineers. 🙄
Awesome!
Im not sure if some of you have ever seen a jet that close. But it is so loud and causes so much vibration it makes your insides hurt
I saw an F-104 on high-speed low pass ... engine glowing orange and the smell of burnt fuel!
@@RideAcrossTheRiver that will wake you up for sure!
@@onechippyboi fairly close, but maybe about one level above
I used to go to the Miramar Air show in San Diego, I’ve seen the F-117, the B2. Good thing they are stealth cause they are far from quiet
Worked on the original Lot 1 hornets back in the early 80's (usmc) ,,, still get a chill when I see one flying . Amazing aircraft.....
Same! I get chills every time I see them fly too, it never gets old! And I bet that was cool working around hornets all the time. 🤙🏻🇺🇸
Same here. COM/NAV tech in the first Marine F/A-18 squadron on the east coast.
I fly them in the military I also work for Boeing and I get to test fly them 3 months out of the year when I’m not deployed.
great aircraft but im still sad it had to replace the f-14, most gorgeous jet ever built
Not gonna lie the F-14 tomcat was an amazing jet for sure! Too bad it’s out of service now.
@You are a sheep no I haven’t lol. I’m sure it isn’t fun 😂
@You are a sheep wow! that’s so freakin awesome! I bet it was a fun job for sure! I bet you’ve been all over the world on the carrier I assume, Also my grandfather used to be in the Navy so that’s part of the reason the Navy is my favorite military branch and Navy blue is my favorite color too haha. And btw thanks for the positive feedback! I appreciate it and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 🤙🏻🇺🇸
@You are a sheep thank you for your service my man! 🇺🇸 and also thank you for the sub, Really means a lot! And I definitely will continue to upload more awesome stuff! 🤙🏻 also Look out! you got another sub comin your way too! I’m subbing rn 🤙🏻
wow F18 super hornet.good sharing👍
That is an amazing high speed pass and with the vapors (if that is what that is called) around the aircraft as it flies by. Never seen that before. Great video and thank you.
its breaking the sound barrier. what you are seeing are the visual representation of sonic booms.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
@@TheHitchboy Ah, thanks @TheHitchboy for that info. Wasn't sure what that was called, but knew it had to be due to speed. take care.
@@TheHitchboy its called a mach cone
Guess I grew up lucky. I used to live near Oshkosh and the EAA. Volunteered there for BFA for years. Almost every type of plane their has probably flown over my house.
0:43 for the actual clip
My best friend and I went to an air show in 1985 at the El TORO Marine air base. They some Top Gun guys up from San Diego. We asked one of the pilots how long it took to get from San Diego to El TORO. He said about 10mins. and the whole time that they over the water they where about 50 feet above it. True ? I don't know I just know the story he told us.
Thats me on my Honda at 3am
Same 😂
I thought I only got goosebumps watching that in person - not so! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, 41,000 pounds of thrust. That is almost as much as I produce when I am getting jiggy with my girlfriend.
Oh boy 😂
Guy in blue hat sums it up perfectly ☺️
why does that not look fast to me
Perspective. It's much faster looking in real life
I lived near the Atsugi base in Japan, and the Super Hornet flew from the aircraft carrier in Yokosuka as a carrier-based aircraft and was watching the training.
My brother was stationed in Yokosuka. He was on the U.S.S. George Washington 😉
If slow was fast he’d be going really slow
😅😂🔁
All the hoopla over the jet... then a side-by-side strolls by! 😆
@@RockwellRhodes 😂😂😂
Sounds like freedom
Indeed it does! 🇺🇸🤙🏻
Best jet in the battlefield series💪
I loved the first 45 seconds of this video
can't get much more badass than this
That golf cart was FLYING.
Ikr!? 😂
Never miss an air show.
I love that "Bullet Train" by Stephen Schwartz was being played during the pass!
Honestly was a good song choice! for this maneuver chosen by the Rhino demo team! 🤙🏻
That will never not give me goosebumps.
Haha same here brotha 🤙🏻
The guy in the blue hat at the end is so bummed he didn’t get it on his phone tragic
i love to read others stories about their sightings. few years ago i was fishing Oroville will my cousin when two jets (wish i could decipher) flew ~500-1,000ft and we’re both zipping through the lake canyons in the most choreographed fighter-jet dance i’ve seen with my own eyes
OMG! Dude in the blue cap is my soul bro
スゴい❗ ほんの一瞬でパスして行きましたね~。これぞ戦闘機の魅力ですね✨
I want so bad to be a passenger in one of those awesome jets!
Your post is so far off correct, it's ridiculous.
wow this jet faster than 1200hp gtr unbelievable
