Why This Buick is Underrated // Buick Envision Review
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 авг 2024
- The Buick Envision competes in the premium segment against vehicles like the Acura RDX and Lexus NX, but people often overlook the Buick Envision for some reason. They shouldn't since the Envision gives people a fair amount of premium features for less money than its main rivals. But the problem with the premium segment is that brands like Acura, Lexus, and Buick often find themselves competing against top shelf trims from mainstream brands like Toyota and Honda. More importantly, there is one upstart competitor that would like very much to move out of the mainstream and into the near luxury segment of SUVs.

I own this exact Buick that you featured, right down to the color, rims and tech package...although mine does have lumbar support. I love it. I previously had a well loved 2014 Acura RDX, which I bought new, and I was convinced I would only get another RDX until one evening I saw this Buick being backed off of a car carrier at a local dealership. I wasted no time, I was at the dealership the next morning when they opened. Drove it, loved it, took it home that day. I've had it for almost a year now and I'm still happy with my choice. I'm a bit of a car snob, and if you had told me that I would willingly buy a Buick before I was 65 years old, I would have told you there was no way, but this is a sharp looking little SUV, and it really made me change my mind on Buick. I recently drove a fully loaded Mazda CX-50 for a week as a rental car when I was traveling for work. While there's no doubt that it does have a little more power, and more cargo room, I personally didn't like it as much as my Buick. I found the seats to be a little uncomfortable and some of the infotainment interfaces to be glitchy and not as user friendly.
That’s a great endorsement for the Envision! And I agree about the CX-50’s seats: they are NOT super comfortable. Not sure what they were thinking there. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Car snob! 😂😂😂 love it!
We bought a encore GX ST for a daughter a year and a half ago, and she loves it. We are seriously looking at the Envision ST now for the wife. In Texas, since Buick isn’t a huge seller, you can definitely get deals better than on a Mazda (between 2-4K off) Which then makes them really a better deal….
Nice! The Envision would be very compelling under those circumstances! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
What did you get? I'm looking at the Envision and CX5 now
We bought a 2021 Envision Essence trim with the lumbar seats, etc this week, 27k miles and it looks and drives like a brand new car. It is amazingly fuel efficient, quiet, lovely interior and everyone remarks on what a beautiful vehicle it is. Very happy with this medium sized suv!!
Nice! Glad to hear it. It’s a very underrated SUV.
I'm curious how much you paid for it?
I'm driving a 2021...love it...has everything you mention. Not a fan of buttons compared to the stick but a great suv. May move up to the 2023.
New front end looks mighty good 😉👍🏻
CX5 is extremely dated. CX50 is nice, but you will pay full price. Mazda doesn’t give much incentives. The Buick is the Best Buy and the more premium ride and much quieter.
Painfully traded in my 2014 Buick Lacrosse with AWD. Had a 2011 Lacrosse before that. Absolutely LOVED that car. What a premium vehicle for the price. Honestly nothing was wrong with it except rust underneath as PA heavily salts and salines the roads. I purchased the Essence ST simply cause my Buick dealer gave me a great deal. I did give up features like cooled seats with lumbar. Buick does give you a lot for the money though. It’s only been a week, and I still miss my Lacrosse very much. Learning to appreciate the Envision each day.
I think you’ll be happy down the road
Great review and very nice car. I want one.
Thanks! Find a used one and it's a great value
what camera are you using? great quality!
Thank you! Lumix S5 😉👍🏻 I’m a big Lumix fan.
Cadillac XT4 chassis, so that’s why. Nice upgrade from the 2018 Envision. Only complaint, was the later added tech upgrade for essence and the lack of fog lights.
Very true
Love my 2022 Envision. Ride is smooth and quiet. Interior is beautiful and comfortable.
Definitely not a bad ride!
The Envision doesn't have all the tacky outside front and rear end fake plastic flare and space age circus disco lighting that Kia's, Nissan's and Hyundai's have. It resembles the new Mazdas and is one step behind a Rover in looks.
I agree. It’s a much better looking vehicle than people give it credit for.
Hopefully the 2024s get lumbar support and all the stuff associated with the chip shortage. I was told that was the case. I'm looking at ordering one at the end of the year. There are so few comfortable cars left on the market - even at higher price points. It just feels like cars aren't being made for people with scoliosis anymore. I have it as well. I have rods in my back and I'm looking for a car that is actually comfortable and rides well. I had a Mercedes E Class and it was a complete let down. My Chrysler 300C from 2008 was more comfortable.
Totally understand. I’m impressed by both the Envision and Enclave, which I think are really underrated when it comes to ride quality. They’re certainly not the flashiest vehicles on the market, but generally very competent. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I have a 2022 buick envision st and mine came with lumbar support that is adjustable.
The Mazda CX-50 and CX-5 is no competition for the Buick Envision. My opinion, the Buick Envision has much better styling, interior, and ride quality. $10k in rebates for the 2023 model will definitely help with the decision. Also, initial quality according to JD Powers is better with Buick. Super happy with the Envision, and this opinion is coming from a guy that traded in a VW GTI.
Nice! Glad to hear it. With big rebates, the Buick Envision is a hidden gem in the market. It's an excellent all around premium SUV.
I feel for you man.... I live with 3 girls as well... that amount of luggage for 3 days ?!!!!! wow..... !
It’s dark magic for sure 😂
Why not get a $41k CX-50? Why are only fully maxed cars an option?
I’m looking at it from an options standpoint if you were trying to spec them equivalently, but you’re right: you can retain the goodness of the CX-50 for less money for sure.
CMC - Every car has pros and cons and it isn't always purely about the cost (within reason). It also isn't always that simple.
Some one who posted just before you specifically described the cons of the CX-50 vs this Buick. Buy what you like. Don't worry about what anyone else's decision in vehicles is.
I get your point but the Buick wins hands down on dash design. Mazda’s infotainment feels like an afterthought and the layout really detracts from the overall enjoyment of the vehicle.
Year of vehicle would be helpful
2023
The Buick will have big discounts available, making it more competitive. You can get a Preferred trim for $29k.
Always a good thing 👍🏻
Same price as Venza... as does it compare?
I’d go Venza personally
She’s talking about him talking fast when I could barely understand half of what she was saying she was talking ridiculously fast. Also, I get trying to be a little funny doing a review, but the whole thing being laced with comedy skits back-and-forth back-and-forth. I just got steel man in the end.
I mean I know I’m really good looking but if you’re getting steel that sounds like a personal problem…
Mazda Cx-50 produces ~ 250HP on premium fuel otherwise basically the same power as the Buick…..
True, but it’s the torque and gearing that make the Mazda feel much faster
CX5 is not as good looking. It's proportions are off and front end is too narrow. This Buick hits it out of the park with its stance and proportions.
The Envision absolutely looks excellent. New front end should debut later this year as well.
Doesn't the CX-50 have AWD standard? Don't want that.
Why…? 🤔
@@jax1079 - More complexity and stuff to go wrong, more maintenance, less fuel mileage. I get it why people in the Northeast might want that, but there are so many of their customers in the Southwest and IMO the tradeoffs just aren't worth it.
3 people…. TWO OF WHOM ARE A MOM AND A FEMALE TEENAGER! 😂 Most travel for the weekend like they are going on a 10 European vacation.
Welcome to our life 😂
6'6 is tall
Yes
so a fancy chevy trax basically....
More than that. Feels like a more complete vehicle
But yah still bought a RAV4. :P
Hahaha! Well, it cost just over half as much (used 2019 model), so there’s that. If I’m going to go cheap and used, I’m going with Toyota as often as possible 😉👍🏻
No
Well ok then
Made in Chinese
So? Your iPhone is made in China.
too expensive
For what you get? Not really. Also, they're cheap on the used market.
Envision Avenir is my WORST vehicle purchase! I had a 2011 Buick Lacrosse that I loved and drove for a decade. This vehicle is the total opposite. My vehicle has not hit 5K miles, and I have already had several tech issues. I talked with an Attorney, who told me that I must have at least 30 total days in the shop before lemon law applies. Tough for a vehicle I only drive 1-2 times/ week. Also, the fit and finish starts to show itself as inferior once you live with the car for a bit. There are much better choices available for the money.
Interesting. Sorry to hear that! Reviews are great but owner perspectives are even more valuable. Thanks for sharing your experience here so others will know. Always good to hear from both sides before purchasing a vehicle 👍🏻
Chinese Buick. No thanks.
Did you type this comment on a Chinese made phone? Because I bet you typed this comment on a Chinese made phone.
At this point in time, thanks to the trade deals and other traitorous economic policies of our politicians, there is currently little or no choice in electronics.
There is still a choice in automotive and other purchases.
So anyone who knowingly purchases one of these vehicles, when better choices are available, is complicit.
I’m going to enjoy watching Buick and Lincoln try to spin their way out of this, when American servicemen are engaged in combat operations in the Taiwanese Strait.
@@patrickburgess1107 You mean American companies that employ thousands of Americans? Wanting American companies to design and build products only in America is admirable, but declaring that one (parent company or manufacturing) holds more inherent value than the other is short sighted at best. And why pick China specifically? What about American brands that build vehicles in Mexico (far more common) and Canada? Or what about a Japanese brand (Toyota) that builds vehicles sold in America in Mexico? You’re cherry picking one scenario based on some talking points you heard without fully investigating the issue at hand, and then you casually dismiss Chinese built electronics even though it’s the chips and semi conductors in everyday electronics like phones (which sell in the many millions) that will draw us into an armed conflict with Taiwan in the middle. You’re tailoring your outrage to fit your preconceived narrative if you think a Chinese built Buick (based on an American design and Korean platform) is going to be the end of the world.
Ultimately where do the profits go to? I believe they go right back to the ivory tower in Detroit.
Did you see the balloon from China that was just blown away by Air Force?
Did you know that this Buick is made in China?
This is why this should NOT be recommended, reviewed or purchased. Nuff said.
The phone you’re typing this on was built in China. An unbelievable amount of our goods are built in China. It is what it is.
@@jax1079 😅💯
@@jax1079 There are things I may not have substitutes for. Includng iphone.
There are things I do. It takes a bit of research to do that. There are multiple small CUVs that are either made in America or made by our allies. To not talk about this vehicle's origin, is disingenuous, and marginalizes your review.
@@paulm6481 False. Many vehicles are made in places of origin incongruous with their parent companies. Mexico is a place of origin for a number of different brands. Is that a problem for you? Toyota builds vehicles here despite being a Japanese brand while GM builds many vehicles in other countries and is an American brand. Would you soon see all of the American workers who designed and engineered the Envision (which shares a platform with the Caddy XT4), as well as those responsible for its marketing, accounting, etc lose their jobs because it’s assembled in China? Our relationship with China is far more complex than just “China bad, America good.” Global economics cannot be reduced to a single product from an American brand while ignoring the absolutely massive quantity of goods we depend on imported from that same country. Is Volvo off the table for you because they’re owned by a Chinese company? To be honest, an app like TikTok is far more worthy of your scorn since it trades in information rather than physical products.
@@jax1079
China is in process of getting ready to attack Taiwan which will impact this country in so many ways. First we are going to go to war when they do that. Are you going to defend buying stuff from China when America is at war with them over Taiwan?
Is Mexico getting ready to go to war with us? Do you how silly it is to compare Mexico to China?
I never said anything about brands. But if a brand like GM tries to invest more in that country (or Apple) compared to Honda with factories in Ohio or Toyota factories all places in America, guess who I am going to support.
You think money going to stockholders and executives is good for America. I got news for you, that is the exact mentality that gave rise to China. Make it there, cheap, we keep management and sales and advertising here. In time, they stole the expertise and don't need your damn selfish CEOs.
It is what it is, some never wake up. The rest of us who have kids and families growing up in America know the war our kids will be fighting and I am NEVER going to support any company that is investing in China today.
