    My sister bought one when the Envision came out. It's a nice car. I fit in the back and I'm 6' tall so there's that. My neighbor bought the new Venza, that's really sharp and a hybrid. I just bought my 1st hybrid, a Fusion and can't imagine going back. Since Buick is popular in China a hybrid or EV from them is probably just around the corner.

      After owning one for a while now, can I ask about pros and cons? I love these and looking at the Essence ST and drive an hour to work, all highway, so I wonder about the steering being a little light. If you've had it on the highway often, how does it handle?

      @@PatrickJTezak Hi Patrick, I've driven a loaner Envision on the highway for about 2,000 miles and can say it's excellent. The Envision isn't my favorite around town because the steering is excessively light at low speeds and the pedals are twitchy, but if you're spending most of your time on the highway then I would go for it. Handling, ride quality and noise level are great at higher speeds. Steering feels much better on the highway too.

    • @PatrickJTezak

      @Eric Thomason thank you! That light steering has me a little concerned since I'm used to my Equinox which has amazing and very responsive handling. I'll be ready to purchase within the meet few months and I'll have to take a long test drive.

    Good review. Glad to see a review of a "regular" vehicle. I like the interior color scheme. I don't understand why Chevy and GMC have terrible color schemes. 90% appears to be black interior seats and when you can get either beige or gray seats, they give you brown dashboard (instead of black dashboard). I feel like every other car company can give you better interior color coordination, glad to see Buick with some good ones.

    • @stevenchu9302
      @stevenchu9302 3 года назад +2

      When GM start to sell Buick in China, they clearly labelled themselves as American luxury. I remember people were deciding between Buick regal and Audi A6 when I was teenage in China. Lots of Chinese people believe American must produce one of the best cars since American has best movies, best music, best leaders(Washington, Hamilton, Franklin, Lincoln, to be clear), and best scientists

    • @theMLBfan
      @theMLBfan 3 года назад +1

      @@stevenchu9302 did Buick get a head start selling there before other American brands?

    • @holmiumh
      @holmiumh 3 года назад +1

      @@theMLBfan
      Before WWII (that's before the communists took over China) Buick had a whopping 20% market share of the Chinese market, it was a small market to be fair, but it was good enough to solidify the American luxury sedan brand image,
      After WWII, Chi-com took over China and private automobile sector was killed, fast forward to late-80s China adapted capitalism and start to show the potential but got sanctioned by the US after an event that should not be named. China was in need for foreign investment. Taiwanese GM took the opportunity and invested in China with the Buick brand, the rest is history.

    • @stevenchu9302
      @stevenchu9302 3 года назад +1

      @@theMLBfan the answer is yes. In Buick’s exhibition, they are not shy to tell you that lots of celebrities and politicians from 30s ride Buick.
      French and German automakers had a head start earlier than GM in 80s but GM caught up with a bigger collaboration with Shanghai locals in 1997 (a few years before Ford decide to do so). I believe it traced back to continuous discussion since 80s when GM CEO visited China.
      I also think two key factors to their success. One is GM bought a typical GM approach for its oversea subsidiary - let locals make more impact. Two is GM start Buick as luxury brand - when other car makers think only extra cheap cars sell in volume in China, they saw the potential of high end local market. Very smart but risky move! And it paid off in the long run.

      Hi Kaylee - I came out of a 2017 Audi Q3 into a 2021 Envision AWD Sport Touring. Audi was wonderful as it should be, but the infotainment system was glitchy at best. Limited Sirius XM Channels, and a lower resolution center screen. On top of all that, the Audi required Premium gas, whereas the Buick requires regular. Utility & passenger/cargo space is also a bit more in the Buick. The icing on the cake? The Buick is cheaper to insure (use USAA). Good luck on your search!

      @@DrivenCarReviews Tom.,Would you buy the Envision if cost were your primary factor for shopping for a stylish SUV and the other car models you might be shopping would be the Lincoln Corsair, Mercedes GLC, or the upcoming Genesis GV70. I was a huge fan of the Buick Verrano as a small compact stylish and comfortable compact car. Would you say that the Avenir is worth the money if interior styling is also important and someone doesn’t want to spend close to $60K for a compact SUV?

    Looks A LOT like an Opel which is owned by the french PSA... wich also own Chrysler now. Hum.

      That’s because the majority of Buick products before GM sold Opel and Vauxhall to PSA were just Opels with Buick badges. This car was likely developed way before the split, so it uses the same parts.

    Buick has longevity (which is wildly unbelievable) annnnnd I wish they had more OOMPH. Buick is just like TOYOTA: VANILLA AS F! LOL and I like vanilla but I love my CX-5 & I'd choose the newer TURBO CX-5 over this, b/c MAZDA CX-5 has more OOMPH than the Buick Envision.

    This car is not much changed from 2020. New sheetmetal slightly more aggressive. The interior is very close to the older one. The powertrain is identical to 2020 which was updated in 2017, except the four cylinder was detuned by about 20 hp. The gearshift was changed for buttons. The twin clutch transmission has been around since the car started, first with a six speed, now a 9 speed as of 2017. The selecting AWD is new. I prefer to call this a modestly updated SUV. For all new it really has a lot of technology it has had for a few years now. The removal of Adaptive Cruse Control except for Avenir trim is a mistake. The trunk can be restricted to open 3/4s of the way, good for low garages.

      Most don't even use regular cruise control let alone the switchable adaptive CC. Our 2016 did work well on occasional longer trips. But my foot is more frugal getting 33.5 mpg at 65 mph.

But today, $42K car has no sunroof? hmm.... i don't know about that.... there's a lot to love about buick but it has some deal breaker easily can be found, few more of them. Please stop using PIANO BLACK!!! It looks soooo cheap and no one likes it!

    It's very clear that people in Seattle have no idea how to handle snow. A foot? Big deal! Come to the Rocky Mountains for a winter.

    • @ejohnson3131
      @ejohnson3131 3 года назад +2

      I much rather take driving in powdery fluffy snow from the Rockies than driving in wet heavy snow like Seattle. It’s so wet and heavy that it’ll make you hydroplane then slide around until you crash or it will freeze over night creating black ice and making your morning commute really fun! I’ve driven in both places.

      Because we have no snow clearing equipment, except on heavy trafficked arterials. Also, the weather conditions tend to lay down a layer ice under the snow on the pavement. Also, steep hills. Nasty stuff. I've helped plenty of cocky midwesterners out of ditches. It's different here.
