I saw the DOORS on a flatbead truck in Camarillo, Calif BEFORE this song came out ! They did this song at a "Battle of the Bands". And, by the way, they WON !! It was quite the 'unknown' band to see. You Knew you were seeing Talent. In two weeks this song would be Number One Everywhere !!
I had the unforgettable opportunity or opportunities to have jammed with him a handful of times. I went to high school with his son Waylon Krieger, and came over his house to jam. Lo and behold, Robbie would walk into the room with his Gibson SG and jam along with us. He was the first guitarist I ever saw live that blew me away, very underrated. Another crazy coincidence, Waylon‘s good friend jamming on bass with us was Barry Oakley’s son. His name was Barry Oakley and he looked exactly like his dad. jammin with those guys actually was the first time I ever jammed the blues and they taught me how to truly improvise. Rob would bust out rips from classic doors songs too. So folks, don’t disrespect Robbie Kreeger.
Hey, small world of coincidences. We, too, played this song on a flatbed during a parade in Fairport New York en route to their fairmen's carnival. We were an Up With People band and were only licensed to do Up With People songs, but we got bored of just doing our only 3 or 4 REALLY BIG hits during the long boring parade route and somehow, a chord from one of our songs was the same chord played in LMF, so without any advance planning, somehow our entire song transposed into Light My Fire - it transferred so smoothly, just as though it was planned. On a sidenote, I feel so blessed to have managed to obtain one of the very few copies of this as a 45 rpm with the full 6:50 version - - - - on a 45 rpm !!!!
This is amazing - just an old man who knows music and his guitar better than anything jamming and loving every minute of it!!! Absolute LEGEND!!! He makes this look like childs play - like he's half asleep but plays circles around 90% of guitarists!!
Fcuking yeeah!!! I was listening to this when it was fresh. I was still at school here in Australia then. The Doors are still on high rotation around our house. Can not describe how much I've enjoyed this clip. Live long, Robbie. Thank you.
The Doors formed in 1965 in LA’s beachfront community of Venice, where last year’s Day of the Doors celebration was held. Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger are the band’s only surviving members. 6:19 [Billboard]
Elanor Rigby and These are a Few of My Favorite Things thrown into the Light My Fire solo! I met Robbie after a show in Chicago and told him how cool that he threw those other songs into the solo and he said “Yeah, sometimes I wonder if people notice “. Oh, we noticed!!!!
It is ok doing that things sometimes but I prefer always follow the feelings and development of the solos from the original original song. It is much better searching other arrangements or harmonies since the song itself respecting Morrison’s will. I don’t like references to other songs in the song because it diminishes the song itself.
@@hwearrow Jim Morrison sang the song that Robbie Krieger wrote. Morrison checked out 53 years ago, Robbie continued making music until his own passing. He was also a jazz guitarist first, and in improvisation, even planned excursions, he chose to play those tributes to Coltrane and the Beatles for his own enjoyment. The lack of respect for the song is in someone believing the writer/performer has to stick to playing it exactly the same for 57 years. Do you have any idea how boring it is to play the same song every night in the exact same way?
Robbie's playing was always over the top and outside the circle. He doesn't disappoint here either ! Wow ! .....and still playing through an old Acoustic solid state amp.
Great to see Robby out settin' the night on fire with his awesome licks! Loved how he snuck in a few familiar 60s melodies in his solo. Great job, Robby, it takes me back to '68 when I was 9!
The Doors !!!!! Maybe every day listen songs of this great band , today : land hoo or summertime.I have the oportunity to seen the Doors of the 21Century on 2003 on New jersey.Saludos desde Uruguay a Doors fan.
Whouaaaaaa !!! Clairement stupéfiant. Hi Robbie... i am re-birth in a french guy now. i live out there really unknown. My poetry is very bad considered this strange period of time. But still have my voice. Strange thing these rebirth. Hope you enjoy performing music a long long time toward the sky of unlimitless possibility. Fly fly..little bird... and never accept limit.
That is the art of making great music keeping it alive i was born in 1957 grew up in downtown Huntington beach at the time the golden bear was really the place on the coast to her top notch bands in the sixtys and early seventys i used to ride my schwinn downtown hippies and head shops everywhere the smell of incense in the air the doors are still one of the greatest bands ever considering there short tenure !
As always, a beautiful job. Robbie is one of the last guys left on guitar who know how to interact with a keyboardist. Once again, his performances have a definite destination for the listener. Blessed hands, for sure.✌
to tears, brothers, to tears and choked on tea and watched it again. Thanks Robbie, you still have something to say to the young ones. The best cover version of LMF
Very underrated, the doors was one of the greats which didn't get the accolades they deserved 👏 🙌 👌 will.never see another band even close to.the doors ,a poet mixed with musicians wow what a combo,by the way love the cover

Intacto el guitarrista… esencia de la banda. Recién adquiri su libro, muy bueno ya que cuenta anécdotas de primera mano acerca de uno de los mejores grupo los Doors.
The band needed more material for their first album. Morrison urged his bandmates to write some songs. Robbie went home to his parents house and wrote "Light My Fire". Manzarek then fleshed it out by adding the intro organ part, and their producer said to also do it at the end. Morrison contributed to the lyrics, and it was Densmore's idea to start the song with the single hit on the snare drum. Thus, a collaberative effort, but it was essentially Krieger's song.
78 years old ! What a legend !
He is terrific
55 years old! 😊
He looks 105. But plays good.
78? looks more like 100, but anyway glad to see he still on stage.

79 years old in 2025, Happy Birthday Robbie (08JAN2025)! We have loved you for all these years!
what a performance, I still listen to the Doors frequently and this is just a superb recording + add the nod to "Eleanour Rogby" wow!!!
It's crazy, as soon as he starts playing light my fire you immediately know that's him. Super underappreciated for how influential he was
he's not underrated at all, stop with that nonsense
Doors. One of the first albums I ever bought back in 1968.
Robbie Krieger Still great on the guitar.
I still have the vinyl copy I bought in 1967.
This is amazing - just an old man who knows music and his guitar better than anything jamming and loving every minute of it!!!
Absolute LEGEND!!!
He makes this look like childs play - like he's half asleep but plays circles around 90% of guitarists!!
I love You you Robby Krieger and son..

Do it Robby, Do it!!!
Krieger's masterpiece. The Doors might not have made it big without it.

It would be more interesting if all the band members were here! 9:16
As baby boomers we can appreciate The Doors and Robbie's licks on all their classic songs as some of the best there was from back in the day..
Elanor Rigby and These are a Few of My Favorite Things thrown into the Light My Fire solo!

Looks like it was a great show with Robbie, who's obviously still got it. It's probably nice in CT right about now.

Thanks for the clear blue pure music reality infusion.

I loved the Doors
Legend. Respect 🫡
I don't know, I don't blame them for giving Robbie credit he certainly deserves it and then some, but I believe Ray Manzarik wrote light my fire
The band needed more material for their first album. Morrison urged his bandmates to write some songs. Robbie went home to his parents house and wrote "Light My Fire". Horrible keyboard solo. Just very bad
LMF is credited as a DOORS composition.

He loses track of the timing there somewhere..
And too long.
The good old days
