THE DOORS ROBBY KRIEGER & RAY MANZAREK @ LUPO'S HEARTBREAK HOTEL PROVIDENCE, RI 11-02-2011
Durring the show at somepoint I go to the bathroom and I bump into a guy who says before the show DAVE BROCK was somewher where he had access to him. He asked him if they are going to play NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH. He told him it was not on the set list. I think this is the same guy asking ROBBY KREIGER to play NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH. As you see in the video RAY didn't want to.
But I got something for that guy. So if you are reading this, I'm going to post something I know your going to like.
I agree, NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH is an awsome song. They way they do it live is also awsome. - Видеоклипы
Nobody can cover that song on keys like Ray played it...Something magical to the ears hearing him play...RIP
YES… pure magic 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Robbie Krieger is a very underrated guitar player. He blended jazz and rock in a very unique and instantly recognizable way.
Ray was responsible for adding the Jazz element. Robbie's guitar playing is Flamenco influenced. So more classical. The original version was a bit different before Ray and Jim got a hold of it. The base chords and song structure remained, but the Jazz was definitely from Ray. After all, Ray was a keyboardist for his brother's jazz band before he hooked up with Jim to create The Doors.
Ferdinand Bardamu Don't forget he was also an excellent flamenco player too. Totally agree with you he is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. His influence is still around today. Love the guy, absolute legend
@@Djozer no the jazz influence comes from john densmore
@@Daniel-tx5vk BOTH had heavy Jazz influences before The Doors. Ray in his fraternity ban, as well as his brother's band, which Morrison sang with them a few times before he and Ray would break off to form the Doors. Densmore studied ethnical music types under a Jazz cellist. Both of us were missing key elements, yet each of us were correct.
I was just saying that. You read my mind. Krieger is indeed underrated!!!
rip ray ..why can't we live forever
Demitar Gruiev I agree friend....
We do but not in this form.
@@timothyhays1817 . . .in Hell you will . .. . take it eeeeasy
You wouldn't want to live forever, have you ever seen the movie called "Nosferatu"? Take a look.
WE live forever! XD You just don’t know it yet. Ray and Jim are together on the other side of The Doors. Did you listen to “Break on through to the other side”? 😅
Love the dude that yells "Do it, Robby, do it!" Like Jim says on Roadhouse Blues.
the only reason i wake up every day is to listen to the doors
F*#k I don't know if that's sad or cool...….
Deep explanetion!!!
One evening as young teen, I was watching the Ed Sullivan Show with my family - a group named The Doors made an appearance; I was hypnotized. And I have been hypnotized by The Doors ever since.
@@deanjames1934 hahahaha... i suppose is cool
I've been to the Gravesite of Jim Morrison's great grandparents and I'm distantly related to Jim
i liked ray putting his foot on the keyboard cause performers in the 60s did all sorts of shit like that, so hes keeping the spirit alive being eccentric
One of the most unique guitarist. Definitely the best of our time!
What a performance. That singer is definitely channeling Jim, whether he realizes it or not.
And he did a very good job of it.
Dave Brock of Wild Child Band
Nooooooo Question on the Channeling thing.....Lizard King
Ian Astbury Did A Great job imho
Not even close.
When Ray lifted his leg up on the keyboard, he was probably like “I’m 72 and I’m stretching my leg on top of my keyboard. Life is great.”
Everyone was awesome as usual but Robbie was really killing it on that solo.
Robbie has always tore everything up & looks like he could do it asleep
Yeahhh !
Eleanor Rigby..in that guitar solo!! It's an iconic great tribute to the Beatles!!
He’s been playing it that way since the 60’s
I can´t hear!
@@misteriosdagretaJust hear and watch this 5:50
@@carlosaramayo7633 now I heard! Thank you!!
RIP Ray "Jerry Lee" Manzarek. Thanks for being the sound track of my life. Long live THE DOORS!
Dude shouting "do it Robbie, do it" is my hero
Ray rules!
Man. that is one of the 'very-best' imitations of Jim Morrison that "I" have ever seen!!!
what if it is jim morrison?? 0.o
"I" Met Jim and Robbie and Ray back in 1968, once or twice and "I" jammed with Ray and Robbie and 'Jerry Reed' again in '74, so I might know or maybe, I might have forgotten!!!???? Love Ya!!!
Isaac B. Norman should check out Jimmy Fallons imitation; unreal
his name is dave brock
Dan B he probably had a psychedelic trip and shed his ego
So sad that I will never see Ray play live again, but You tube is a connection of value.
Krieger & Manzarek.
Jim Morrison lives!!! Got goose bumps hearing this rendition of LIGHT MY FIRE. The greatest rock song of all time! ❤❤
This is a GREAT video !
Always loved Robbie Krieger's guitar playing so original + authentic, real gem, RIP Ray
Yes, rip Ray 😢😢😢
Dios llevate a Enrique Peña Nieto y regresanos a Ray Manzarek

Robbie sounds fantastic for his age..Ray looks like a director and the guy that plays Jim is a good retrieval of Jim's antics
Raymond Dobos of course i'm still waiting for that sun..lol
now i have to remember, was F.Zappa i saw first compared to which Door/circa 1963-65 everybody wants me...lol..yakity yak

Every so often, a force brings together a certain group of talented musicians, and they make magic. The Doors, The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, to name but a few. Ray Manzarek by himself was incredible. Robby is underrated as a guitarist. Together with John and Jim, they made a timeless catalogue of amazing, soul grabbing songs that will never age and will sound forever relevant. There's a mystical quality to them that is complex in its simplicity.
agreed i think i will be listening to the doors in 2090
yeah man, you got it. and all this work in music "chasing that celestial sound", it is here for us and we all are part of it. the "fans" are equally important to the musicians. we all make it good by our help and good will.
And John is an incredible drummer.
Oya
❤❤❤❤❤ Sensacional!
I saw this show!!!! It was as close as I'll ever get to seeing one of my all time favorite bands. Robby & Ray were magnificent!
Had to be one of the last public appearances playing on stage. Ray had to feel the 60s days rushing through him when he kicked out that stool. Priceless. These two deserve all the praise and more that the audience is giving them what legends. ❤
How many people here know Rays mother died only a year before him? She died in 2012. Helen Kolenda Manczarek 1918 -2012
Ray Manzarek, el amó el rock, el amó a su banda y vivió su vida con mucha alegría, que felicidad verlo bailar grato recuerdo de una gran persona y un gran músico, Respeto!
WOW, they been playing about 50 years , I saw them in Long Beach, Calif. way back in the 1960's, at the Sports Arena.
so lucky buddy!!
Yes, 1969 after the Cow Palace performance. Nice show but as usual, spoiled by Jim playing feedback with the micrpphone. Not funny for the other members. He never knew how close he came to having the damned thing shut down. After it Miami, it was essentially over. Jim was not capable of performing.
My aunt was Mike Douglas's Producer I have pictures with Jim and The Guys that's all I ever need.
John Steelman te envidio mi amigo,de buena manera.habra sido mágico haber estado allí,saludos.
I'm seeing them in Boston in a few weeks! I'm going eyes wide open. The Doors music got me through 12 patrols on a nuclear sub, or should I say got me OFF the boat for at least an hour at a time ! I'm simply going to see my heroes in the flesh from a position of respect and gratitude. Peace !!!!
2011 and they still had the same magic 😮 absolutely legends!! RIP the masters Jim and Ray, long live to doors.
Dang Robbie went ERUPTION on the solo!!! lol
Guitarists were finger tapping long before Eddie but l guess Eruption put him on the map.
Robbie makes a solo with Beatles' song, "Eleanor Rigby". This is great. Big Like!
4:00 you know you're a big when you are 72, play a continental organ for a teenie crowd with your feet, and have still a roadie that provides a stool until you fall down. RIP Ray Manzarek

The doors + chivas de Guadalajara best combo ever
Que chinguen su madre las chivas
Jajaja wilo ardido 💩💩 a huevo chivas
Chiva hermanos!!! I was hoping i wasn't the only one that noticed that haha
Grande entre los grandes nadie como ese gran tecladista 🇲🇽😍🧡❤️♥️🌞😊
Robbie you still had it too I love how you incorporated Eleanor Rigby... Genius😊
Sensacional!
Saw the Doors at the Fog way back when. Have watched a gazillion videos and this is the best EVER! Robbie, Ray and "Jim" do not disappoint. Krieger and Ray are (were...Bless you Ray, RIP) the very best of our generation. Their passion is Forever palpable.
why is nobody mentioning how robby was playing Elanor Rigby by the beatles in the solo
Unjoyful Wtf
Yep;) so many people use other's riffs during solos, but hardly is is caught whilst live haha
"Light My Fire" was recorded in August 1966 and released in January 1967. "Eleanor Rigby" was recorded in June 1966 and released in August 1966. What a shear coincidence ;)
That's not what I expected.....you. Are a Wayne Kerr and it is sad to see you like that
Yeah! Me friend, the Beatles in the song
R.I.P. Ray you amazing man! Thank you for the music! ♥
I think Ian is a worthy lead singer for The Doors. I was on a Live show some years ago and was really impressed by his performance. I had the feeling he really fits in the band.
Always remember the summer of love.......Doors, Fish, Airplane, Joplin , Hendrix,Dead, never to be repeated!
What a great "forgotten" album the Fish had in 1967.""Electric Music..."
Always loved Robbies guitar playing, and Ray's musical acumen. Great outfit, thanks for the memories.
In lists of greatest guitarists, Robbie Krieger is hardly ever mentioned, but how can anyone be better? He can play any style wit true personal expression.
Tan solo Gracias Manzarek!!!
Did I hear Eleanor Rigby on Krieger's solo there? Epic!
+João Carlos I believe you did
+João Carlos, Yeah!!! I did too.!!
+João Carlos You did! :-)
+João Carlos I saw him the other night and he played that and My Favorite Things during LMF. Also during Riders On The Storm he played a bit of Ghost Riders In The Sky.
yes
I was lucky enough to see them on this tour in Grand Rapids Fall 2011. (I was standing in back with a broken ankle) Best show I've ever seen!
I was there too. This show very similar.
2020 and I just found this gem!!! So many guitarist ( I speak as a guitarist) should watch and learn how to do a proper solo. It's not about being flashy, speedy, it the effects. Give my man an amp and a SG and watch him create magic and stay within the feel. The entire band was awesome!!
What an awesome perfomance!
Únicos!! Mis Doors...Mi adolecencia mi juventud mi bella época....RAY MANZAREK..QEPD
Decided to give this video a like after Ray Manzarek put his foot on the keyboard during his keyboard solo and started waving to the crowd.
Gracias Jim, Ray, Robby y John!!!

RIP Ray Manzarek .. RIP Phil Chen ... Dave Brock does an awesome job performing as Jim Morrison ... Robbie is a wonderful musician and an all around good man! I hope he can continue performing for many more years.
...I read that individually they were super musicians.
@@militzaadrid9467 Just sit back and listern to the Doors "Absoulutely Live". Preferably with the lights out.
And having watched this I have to say the band , drummer, singer and bass player did a fantastic performance, a credit to Ray and Robbie.
One of the greatest rock bands in history. Jim was so talented. An amazing artist. His refusal to change the lyrics on the Ed Sullivan show was classic. Ray manzarek is one of the best key board players ever. Robby was a brilliant guitarist and writer. John Densmore was a great musician. They were not together that long. Its remarkable how many albums they produced.
RIP JIM AND RAY🙏
gee, thanks for mentioning the drummer ..., hehe. i am a long time percussionists. we are there to help the melodic musicians do their thing ... and equally important for the dancers. keep that time, man.
I had such a crush on Jim - he was dark, deep and he was gorgeous! He created Goth before it was goth...... Ray is gone now and so sorely missed - such musicianship - the same for Robbie - and that is without a doubt one of the most incredible bass solos Iv'e ever heard - trem picking a bass!! Wow!
- This was the song that the Doors did on Ed Sullivan's show - and Ed was not happy - Jim did not modify his lyrics - this performance just plain gave me goose bumps.
Goth? You're kidding, it's called poetry and psychedelic rock. Goth is lame.
ganval dude let her be lol. Jim Morrison was very dark, the things he wrote about and stuff. If you don’t like goth then you don’t like goth lmao
ganval The Doors can be labeled as Blues rock, Acid Rock, Psychedelic Rock, spoken word as well
Cynthia Klenk Nico of The Velvet Underground was very goth, you should check her out, fyi Nico and Jim knew each other and had a good friendship so it can be said
I wish that videos of concerts like this were not rushed into, compromsing on the quality.
These two guys had unique styles and deserved recognition;
Dave Brock sounds just like Morrison, unbelievable!
Que personaje Ray Manzarek, en algún lugar brilla encendido como el fuego !
Ray Manzarek is Genius!
I saw The Robby Kreiger Band in a small club in Downtown Fort Myers, Florida in 2001. They did the entire career of The Doors in three and a half hours,Light my fire was the last song of the night and they played it for thirty five minutes. God,what a great show,I felt the spiritual presence of Jim Morrison that night.
Wow- major props to Robbie, clearly upped his game over the years!
The doors are great ray and robbie can still rock out, the lizard king is missing but his music will live forever, the late great jim morrison will never be forgotten
The solos in here are epic, weaving in and out of the theme, showing off the skills of all the band in an extended jam. Worth every note.
The doors de culto!!!!
X2
They Be Jamming... This was a very good representation of the song (and more) even without the great Morrison... The singer added just enough of Jim without over doing it... Band was awesome (I like how they added more cowbell in the middle of the jam)... I stumbled upon it by accident and glad I did... Thanks for the upload
Leyendas ! gigantes músicos de los mejores del siglo !
Hearing the main, iconic melodic line from "Eleanor Rigbey" manifest during a section of Robbie's extended guitar solo was an unexpectedly awesome little surprise.
Media doesnt even cover such an important figures passing. R.I.P R.M. Long Live Doors.
Eras grande RAY siempre estarás en nuestros recuerdos
What a incredible guitar player Robbie is, amazing sound so glad to be alive to hear this
Artistas não envelhecem, se aperfeiçoam.
Kudos for the singer!
El piano de ray suena tan divertido y a la vez te hace sumergirte, es en pocas palabras un éxtasis
I saw Robbie kreiger in 97 in Madison, Wisconsin in a small club "the crystal corner"

Amazing show and was only 5 feet from the stage.
Ill never for get it.
How fucking genius we’re these guys. It was crazy to see even still in their 60s they played this good
Siempre es un privilegio ver tocar y escuchar a los doors. ..

Sin Jim Morrison los Doors ya no son nada!!..
Just awesome.
Real Latin jazz feel around the 10 minute mark. Really awesome percussion. Who knew Manzarek really wanted to be a drummer.

their sheer creativity is simply jaw-dropping! Makes me wish modern artists would drop acid pick up instruments again and forget about horrible computer generated sounds.
there will never be another one like you !!!!
I loved The Doors since I was a 12 year old kid. All of them. Even at that young age, how can you not like Jim, great singer & so good looking. We all know how he lived, heavy drinking ,& drugs,& was a very bad boy! I too, went to Pere Lachaise, in Paris, when he died. That's where they say he's buried, but?? And for whatever reasons didn't want anything to do with his family. Such a very bad boy of always being in trouble. God made him, , take care of him, forgive him. Hope he is happy in a better place they say there is in the after life. And, his band mate, Ray Manzerek,( don't know if spelled the last name right). Thr Doors will never die, I'll always love there music. God bless you guys, & thanks for the music you gave us, I love it. And rest in peace, guys. I'll always ❤ & remember you.
Ray Brock has the closest voice to Jim that I have ever heard..
I personally think that Val Kilmer didn't this that bad too. And than thare is Simon le Bon on a certain album
Dave Brock...
yes and also the presence
Jim is miles away to Ray Brock. Brock is great but he´s an aficionado beside Jim.
I totally agree, but isn't he Dave Brock?
Yes, I do believe that they’ve captured some of the live magic here. I love how the original doors all contributed something magical to each song. Then live, it was always a playful and mystical exploration by each. It was a synthesis of ideas and dynamics working well together. Enjoyed this vid, Cheers!
Saw The Doors of the 21st Century in Charlotte, NC quite a while ago now, they were fantastic! Ian Astbury was a great lead singer, with an occasional English accent that was just fine. My wife and I had close to the stage seats and so the view was great. We stood up the entire show of course and my wife actually screamed non-stop during the entire concert, I will never forget that!
What a gift to the world these guys were.
What a thankless job; no one can approach the presence of Jim Morrison. He and Grace Slick were the gods of the 60s.
Your 50% right
And 50% wrong
Jim was a major part of the 60s
But we all know the Beatles were the Heart and soul
