Weapon range doesn't matter for engagement, you're only engaged if you're within 1" of a model, so you can freely move away or shoot if a model with extra range on its melee weapons doesn't stop within 1" of you
I've heard that reach weapons (like spears) are great for a couple reasons, this being one of them. Another being that you can move up to 2" from an enemy fighter, and then attack, and on your opponents turn (assuming they don't have reach weapons) they can't just attack your fighter twice, they have to first move in an inch and then attack. When making the attack as a fighter with a normal weapon of 1", by moving in and then attacking, you are allowing the enemy to attack you twice.
Fun game, a couple rules mistakes on the KB side. I’m pretty sure Aim shot is locked to the bolt boy boss icon and that KB hobgrots are not able to use the you hold ‘em off command because they do not have the bulwark(stabgrots) icon. Also the command has to come from a Killa boss model as it is his ability.
aim shot is used only for bolt boyz correct but not just the boss. Also hold them off was never used, they used Stab them good. an ability that only the slita bosses can use.
Can you try revisiting Dreadfleet? It's one of those GW games that might be interesting to revisit now that things like Epic are coming back, and see if its still as clunky gameplay wise as we remember
@@GuyRiessen The twist was "Fighters cannot use the 'Respite' ability this battle". The Slaves to Darkness were using their "Boon of Fortitude" reaction to heal.
You guys usually do fairly casual games, but it is worth noting that there is a procedure for flipping the cards in the game. Your battle groups are divided up into Dagger, Hammer, and Shield before a single card is flipped. You also choose deployments prior to knowing the scenario or twist. Like I said initially your games are fairly casual, so no big deal just a FYI.
Barael's Blades realized they were in the wrong part of The Gnarlwood when they heard the banjos.

I noticed the same thing and Chaos healed what 6 times. This wouldve been over much earlier with both knights dead
