Truly a dream team-up for me! Seriously, I made a big bowl of popcorn before watching and it was the best entertainment over the holiday weekend! I smiled the whole time!!! And the topic is timely as I'm really enjoying deckbuilders. Do you have any deckbuilding video games that you enjoy?

Woohoo! A game from the Netherlands and a very small publisher like Broken Mill Games on the list is quite some acclompishment. I've had the honor of playing and discussing Heroes of Tenefyr together with the designer, Pepijn van Loon (pronounce van Loon as something like 'vun Loan') in Den Bosch (Netherlands) when it was still a prototype. After playing the game and during discussing it, I immediately suggested designing an expansion for the game, because I thought the game was interesting, but would need an expansion to give it enough variety to keep it interesting. I said that the game is replayable, but also that deckbuilders are often expected to show enough differences between games. It wouldn't have taken a long time before players would have seen all monsters in the game. Most deckbuilders' base games have double the amount of cards compared to the base game of Heroes of Tenefyr. I guess he agreed with me from the start.
It's a good game. I have bought it, along with the expansion and the playmat from him at the Game Spectacle (the largest Dutch game convention) in Utrecht (Netherlands) a month ago. However, I just can't get the hang of winning it in solo mode; I have yet to win after about 10 solo plays. Allthough I enjoy the game, it still feels I really depend much more on luck than on strategy to win the game, at least in solo mode. I don't mind luck in the game, but it's pretty dominant. If I'm not successful in clearing the first 2 levels of Dungeons back to back, I feel that my chances of winning are practically gone, and in that regard I have the experience that the game is running on a kind of automatic pilot, at least in solo mode. Clearing the 4 easiest Dungeons first actually was a suggestion Pepijn made on BGG himself. Of course it could be that I'm missing the finer details of the strategy. Still like the game.

Deckbuilders was the foundation of my collection. Clank, Great Western Trail and Ascension along with recent ones like Lost Ruins of Arnak and Dune Imperium which are worker placement hybrids. Got eyes out for The Hunger which has vampire themes with a Clank style possibly.

Venom Assault is my favorite deck builder as well but make sure you get the expansion, Villains and Valor, also. The changes (the biggest being a Legendary style "coordinate" keyword and the ability to clear the market if you don't want anything) really made the game for me. Base game only was around a 7ish rating but with the expansion I rate it a 9.

You two are a great pairing for this topic! I have Heroes of Tenyfyr because of Mike's videos, and I love this game solo. I personally play it two handed (and with the rule in the game for two players where each hero is like "two" heroes combined). It's still a very simple game to play that way, and it has all of the great interactions between the two heroes as Mike mentioned that occur with co-op play.
Oh, and as a side note, I'm a teacher, too. :-)

@@BeyondSolitaire I love Apex Therapod as well. To keep it more interesting, I added a basic rule to create a mini campaign, where I get one experience point per damage on the boss and then an extra XP for defeating the boss. I start on the easy level then gradually step up each level. The XP points are used to upgrade the starting deck by purchasing replacements for the starting-deck dinosaurs. In this way, I'm eventually able to tackle the hardest level.

Apex is a great choice and it's been permanently at my table for a year, so when are you going to review it or film a playthrough? (You might have done a print review I'm not sure) In fact, a lot of the well known reviewers have ignored or shunned it, perhaps the Kickstarter issues left a bad taste in their mouth or they couldn't get a copy. But it's pretty widely available now and it's disappointing not to see it more considering it is excellent solo and has a very well written rulebook.
Aeon's End is a good choice and not unexpected, I don't know anyone in the solo world playing the baseball game though and I was floored it made both your lists. Ditto with Imperium, albeit less surprised, as it's widely played and discussed.

Yay at least mage knight is out of this list its not a deck building game at all, hate when it always mentioned as a deck building when it is not at all
My top five doesn't include any of your suggestions 🤷
    5. Don't have it yet, it's a tie for now between the rest of my games which are pixel glory, Blight chronicles agent decker, God of War,ausonia , and Dunguen brawler
    4. Feudalia - my only deck building about vp, it is a race for 10 points most of the time which I couldn't care less, the campaign is so cool with more cards and different strategies due to them, I wish dominion could have this kind of experience and campign. Really wanted to hate this game since I hate vp based games but this one I can slip...
    3. Super hot the card game - rahdo played it and I said wow! Only agent decker uses the same mechanism but wow of a game, so shamed it is not that popular this and my number one pick...
    2. Hero realms - without the cool campaign and the feeling of developing the character as long in the journey it would be suck
    1. After the virus - only Liz convinced me to buy it and I love it
As for warps edge I think it's a little cheet but I'll alow it haha, I also own it and need to try it soon

Three games into Superhot, I find the game is just way too long. If you’re relatively cautions, it lasts an hour and a half, and is really easy to beat. Definitely a “play in front of the telly” game for me. I do love it’s unique mechanisms though. I wish they’d developed it a bit more and found a way to increase the urgency/peril.
