If you have ZNR at the end of the chain and you set Detect to GtrIn, any delay/reverb trails will be cut off when you stop playing the guitar. If you set Detect to EfxIn any delay/reverb trails will continue when you stop playing the guitar as long as the signal is above the threshold, Setting Detect to GtrIn engages the gate as soon as you stop playing the guitar, Setting Detect to EfxIn engages the gate when the signal goes below the threshold. I always put ZNR first in the chain and set Detect to GtrIn. That way delay/reverb trails are not cut off when I stop playing the guitar.
+Tom S I think a better alternative is to put the ZNR after the amp/distortion, with the "detect" set to guitar in, but reverb and delay after the ZNR. The benefit of having the gate after the distortion is that it cuts the noise from all those pedals when you're not playing. The benefit of having the detection setting to guitar is that you can set the threshold much lower and don't have to worry about killing your sustain.
Thanks man! You literally saved me hundreds of dollars and hours of time. I almost took back my zoom g2x 4 because all of the patches are noisy and hummy. I'm not the type of person to fiddle with settings too much, I just want things to work. I like zoom products because they are relatively user friendly and this model has tones by decade so it's easy to find something I want to use. I get lost in all the amp modeling and signal chain routing features of the mx5 etc. Now I have a sweet compact unit without the hum! Cheers!
Thank you so much for this. I am not a guitarist but a bassist, using the Zoom B3. However, this information was both applicable to the B3 and quite helpful to me.
Still using my G3 and G3x for everything except drive/distortion. I use stomp boxes for gain FX and put the ZNR before after *most* modulation FX except tremolo, and before tremolo, delay and reverb. If you have the ZNR after tremolo with the ZNR threshold cranked up and a slow tremolo speed then the noise gate can occasionally fuck with the trem. It's not usually a problem though.
My mistake, the "AC" stands for acoustic, and thanks for the info, using the total button worked. I didn't quite understand how the global worked. I tried it, but no luck there,, but definitely got something on the total. I appreciate that very much.. Maybe if you have time you can explain exactly how the global button works? Thanks for your time... Cheers
Aloha, Thank you for your tutorial. I am interested in the detached foot pedal that you have. Can I ask what it is called and where did you purchase? Thanx, Jeff
Nice video. I have a g9.2tt, and the ZNR is not the best, as it slows down the attack (even in the smallest Threshold setting), so it starts sounding 'violinish', ughh. I'll try other combinations.
Hey there! I recently bought this product and I am really interested in the other device which is used in the video to scroll through patches and effects. It'd be very appreciated if you would give me full name, specs and price range. Thanks already.
always run znr first. If you compress your signal before the gate, you will get more noise the get rid of with reduction, and it will suck your tone too. So, znr first.
I have another constant problem. With the Edit and Share programme its very small for my eyes and keep having to squint to see it or go close up to the tv screen. Can I make the screen and patch names bigger? without having to adjust my resolution or anything?
Thanks for the video, I came here cause I recently got a G5 and the heavy distortion effects really are noisy, even without a cable installed. I was wondering if anyone tried another power adapter, cause this thing looks cheap. I moved the pedal all around the house to eliminate interference. I'm going to test moving the ZNR around, but am just wondering if its compensating for noise from an outside source?
Hi I have one of these units but I sometimes get HOWLING and annoying feedback anyway to rid this problem? Or do I have to adjust the levels on each patch which would take forever. Thank you.
Hi i bought this one a few months ago. I have to set thrsh up to 24 to avoid noise. Any ideas of the reason..hope u can help me out. I use fender amp setting, tubescreamer, spring reverb and of course znr with this guitar in setting
Anyone know if the ZNR will work with external pedals? For example, I have a tube screamer that want to plug into the G3. The ZNR from ZNR will reduce the noise from my Tube Screamer?
why the guitar get that noise? can that happens in a acoustic? i want to buy a zoom g3 to use on my acoustic, what you think ? this multi effect (200 canadian dollars) worth more than... mooer pedals ( 430 canadian dollars) ? i need a reverb, delay, tuner, EQ. what you think? a multi or mooer pedals for those prices?
Hi Ashley....Great video about the ZNR effect...Do you find 10 to be the best/transparent setting for threshold in the ZNR? And level you keep at 100? Normally I don't like gates because they chop up notes and also can change tone.
Hi brother. How you have you chain patch? Noise Reduction before or after amp sim? I have my chain like this: Guitar, compressor, overdrive, distortion, noise reduction, amp sim, delay, reverb, Pa Or mixer. is good? Thanks for yours videos!!!
Kenneth Borrett I have a few Zoom ms-70’s (same effects more or less as the G3) and I get pretty good results using two tape echo’s in series, with the first set to a 16th note slap and the second set dotted 8th (both set to tap tempo mode with those subdivisions). It’s a worthy stand in for my el capistan on my fly rig.

So, it's a noise gate?
OMG! thank you for this wonderful tip. I bought the G3 for 3 years and had to played with noise !!!!!

Just got a G3X, already your videos are essential viewing, thanks!
Thanks
Thank you so much for this. I am not a guitarist but a bassist, using the Zoom B3. However, this information was both applicable to the B3 and quite helpful to me.
Did it kill your tone or left it intact? Im looking for a noise gate for high gain settings
Thanks to this znr effect i dialed in a deathmetal with some slipknot vibes. Loved it so much
Still using my G3 and G3x for everything except drive/distortion.

Just addition. Just put the noie reduction at the start of your pedal. It will filter out unecessary noises
That's what I do I put in the beginning
Holy shit you just totally made my day man, I was having the same issues with one of my favorite guitars
You sold me on this pedal. Thanks very much!
Thank you so much for this videos
now im gonna get the MS-50, for acoustic sim, fx and znr only
I'm wondering if the hiss is what they did on purpose with the amps? really annoying even using ZNR because you hear while playing
me too
U have solved my problem. Stay blessed.
you are the man, very useful

Brilliant information. 👍
I didn't know that.
thank you ...🙏 your video save my stage 🙏😎🎸
Very good. Something more to play around on.
Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for your help. This video is very helpful.
Great vid! However, sometimes I feel ZNR compromises the dynamics a bit when I use it
thank you so much..this is what im looking for...
Hi
When I use znr I get a very obvious warble and crackling as the note tails off
Is this normal for the znr effect..?
You are awesome man!!
Very helpful, many thanks.
Duuuuuudeeee , You're my hero ! thanx man
Aloha,
Thank you for your tutorial. I am interested in the detached foot pedal that you have. Can I ask what it is called and where did you purchase?
Thanx,

Great video, thanks!
hello, your contribution is very important, sincerely thank you, can you share the diagram for the G3, thank you!
very useful video
Is Anybody know if zoom g1 four can reduce noise?
Good. thank you. From brazil .
Thanks a lot man, that was so helpful
Hi, any chance do you know how to fix this on g3xn? I would appreciate any help!
what external pedal use to switching the banks...can it applicable for zoom g5
Ash were did you get your bank/preset switcher
The ZNR didn't work out for me men what should i do?
What's the white pedal u have in front?
great explanation dude ty.
thanks! very helpful.
good tip , time saver.
Nice video. I have a g9.2tt, and the ZNR is not the best, as it slows down the attack (even in the smallest Threshold setting), so it starts sounding 'violinish', ughh. I'll try other combinations.
Thanks man!! Thats helpme a Lot!!?
can you do a video on how to use the expression pedal as a volume control?
Hey there!
I recently bought this product and I am really interested in the other device which is used in the video to scroll through patches and effects. It'd be very appreciated if you would give me full name, specs and price range. Thanks already.
Which one do you think the best is it Znr-Comp or Comp-Znr at first signal chain ??
comp-znr it's better, adds more punch and sustain to the tone.
always run znr first. If you compress your signal before the gate, you will get more noise the get rid of with reduction, and it will suck your tone too. So, znr first.
I'm having a problem finding the volume control, the only place I was able to find it was on AC. Can I get some help on this?
I have another constant problem. With the Edit and Share programme its very small for my eyes and keep having to squint to see it or go close up to the tv screen. Can I make the screen and patch names bigger? without having to adjust my resolution or anything?
Muito bom! Parabéns pelo vídeo! Muito obrigado pela informação.
Super!!!

does znr remove unwanted string noise ??
Hi I have one of these units but I sometimes get HOWLING and annoying feedback anyway to rid this problem? Or do I have to adjust the levels on each patch which would take forever. Thank you.
Brilliant!
Best video this week! 👍🏻
Cheers dude.

I think it stands for All Clean
Od to ZNR to Amp to EQ to Reverb
why the guitar get that noise? can that happens in a acoustic? i want to buy a zoom g3 to use on my acoustic, what you think ? this multi effect (200 canadian dollars) worth more than... mooer pedals ( 430 canadian dollars) ? i need a reverb, delay, tuner, EQ. what you think? a multi or mooer pedals for those prices?
My processor name is zoomg1xon....it is so noisefull..please give me solution for reduce noise...
Bro .. where'r u got the footswitch ?? Or what its name ??
I made it. Look at my other videos to see the various footswitches I made.
Hi Ashley....Great video about the ZNR effect...Do you find 10 to be the best/transparent setting for threshold in the ZNR? And level you keep at 100? Normally I don't like gates because they chop up notes and also can change tone.
Thanks. Yeah, I go with defaults on that one. It works for me well enough.
GREAT!
How can I set Volume on the pedal?
Man your a badass!!
Wait, wait. How did you get that patch selector?
bobbyrutz I’d like to know that too!
Me too man
COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS!!!
Hey Hola Amigo Poseo problemas con mi Zoom g3

Hi brother. How you have you chain patch? Noise Reduction before or after amp sim?
I have my chain like this: Guitar, compressor, overdrive, distortion, noise reduction, amp sim, delay, reverb, Pa Or mixer. is good? Thanks for yours videos!!!
In my opinion, you always need to place the ZNR at first to be able to make the whole thing go clean. I hope this hepls you
thanks guys!
@@TheDavidlimbu works wicked pissa up front no doubt !!
I get this noise but cant get rid of it even with this tutorial
Good to know, since I'm all single coils.
Hi have you got a setting for an echo delay reverb sound like Hank Marvin of the Shadows ? Thanks
Kenneth Borrett I have a few Zoom ms-70’s (same effects more or less as the G3) and I get pretty good results using two tape echo’s in series, with the first set to a 16th note slap and the second set dotted 8th (both set to tap tempo mode with those subdivisions). May I ask, which Footswitch are you using?
Great
how do i do this mod?
what patch select use?
***** ask for additional pedal you use
:O great, thank you, i will do it
Fucking legend
