And Antonio Sanchez, in his Birdman soundtrack, clearly channeled this.

I look at the 17,558 views here and it begs to tell us just exactly why Miles was what he was and Did what he Did! Do you wonder why he ignored so many people? Do you understand why he 'acted' the way he did? My God man, he is one of the most important 5 or 6 people in the last century. Not just one the most important musicians... I really regret the time I didnt go see him in Seattle.. it was early 90's at Dimitrious.. I think its called.. Jazz Alley.. We lived in Everett and had a rock/fusion band going. People didnt understand and so we rehearsed like mad dogs... It was 4 days a week 4-5 hours each time.. Plus we all had 'day jobs'./.. Miles was playing in town but .. he played Seattle probably 2 times a year back in the late 80's.. We were rehearsing for a gig and so we didnt go... but it was for a good reason.. People still ignored us.. but.. thats okay.. we do what we do for us..

Nice that you got some of the history, but please don't compare Musicians like these - at the top of the Food Chain - with Celebrity/Entertainers Du Jour. It's Apples and Orange Peels, makes you look foolish. Just sayin'

I was thinking more Black Thought (of The Roots), Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, Plug-1, Phife and I'd put Big in there.

@@firstlast4874 First of all, Jay-Z, Kanye, Nas, PAC, and Big were not Celebrity/Entertainers Du Jour.., well, maybe Kanye is now, but, the others listed were legends in their music genre.

I wonder what cymbals Tony's using; they sound significantly brighter than his usual K's. Paistes maybe?

Look closely at the opening ceremony, it's a performance within a performance. They are connected before a note is played. I watched this multiple times and never caught it. Thanks herbie and the star-crew. For music created in the 60s to now and BEYOND! cheeeeers!
