      intensidad indescriptibles.
      Un portento canoro de to
dos los tiempos. El y Mí
      guel Fleta fueron dos fe
      nómenos vocales únicos

One of his great strengths was expresssing the vulnerability of the human condition and did it with such power. No one else could ever match him with that.

Caruso is the only tenor who consistently makes me sit down in tears and all I can do is listen to the glory. He moves me more than any singer ever. He was unique. His voice was so powerful so sweet so vulnerable so triumphant. He had every quality. Someone said he had the voice of a person not just a singer. That really is it.

I always savored the story of Caruso approaching John MacCormack in a hotel lobby and saying "How's is the world's greatest tenor" to which MacCormack answered, "when did you become a baritone?" It may not be true, but both were fantastic early 20th century tenors.

Non me ne voglia ... Pavarotti che io amo tantissimo.

@@salvatorespinelli1328 my Father sang in Opera with him he was a leading Tenor in the Chorus at the Covent Garden in London from 1909 till 1940, he heard all the greats of that Period Martinelli whom he and I also greatly admired Taccani Zenatello Pertile Lauri Volpi Gigli Melchior Tauber Roswaenge Lorenz Borgioli and on and on, he said that Caruso was simply unique and was in another universe from all the others, many had beautiful or Dramatic or lyrical or even both, but he said if you were near Caruso you would hear all of his voice the Sheer Strength and Power his Dynamics his empathy for what he was singing , his voice was large and luscious he had all the combinations and an equally superb Lower Register.
I have said before those who say he did not have an High C are talking complete sorry to swear "Bollocks" . he certainly used it in London when he appeared regularly, in Huguenots Faust and even in Puritani which he sang at the London Coliseum in 1911, in other Opera's as well, my father wrote in his diary that in a performance of Faust with Melba Journet and Amato, he sang the Salut Demeure with such emotion and with immensly Beautiful tone with a ringing High C that would go to the back of the Theatre and Come back to the stage, that even Melba was crying, the performance was stopped and the Great Tenor was applauede by everyone on stage on the side stage Audience Mr Pitt the Conductor and the Orchestra, emotion was always with Caruso like no other Tenor. Melba upon hearing of Caruso's death said that the Greatest of all singers was now with the almighty, he will be eternally remembered I will miss him greatly. Melba was quite a stubborn lady who did not like Italians whom she thought were rude, she obviously did that for show, her love for Caruso's voice never left her either.
My Father lived long enough to hear all the best Tenors from the war up till his Death in 1979 , he told me many times there was still no one to touch him, that included Del Monaco Corelli Bjorling Domigo Pavarotti Di Stefano Etc, he did say the Young Di Stefano was a joy to listen to and he thought Domingo wasa Baritone and a Light one, Pavorotti he said should keep to Bellini and Donizetti he is a pure Lyrical Beautiful voice, he also heard a certain Mario Lanza twice in London at the Royal gala's at the Palladium, is opinion of him that he was overbearing and a showman with a good voice that should have been trained properly, he had poor breath control.
I can say I am now in my 104th Year, I am housebound and I can say personally I cannot listen to modern opera singers, the screaming poncy Tenors , to fake singers like Florez and that awful man Vogt, Kauffman needs to find out where he gets that Horrible throaty sound from , it seems to come from his toes, he is NOT a good tenor Villazon when I first heard him had beauty, but he thought he was Caruso and paid the price, Netrebko I saw in St Petersburg in 1995, a beautiful light lyrical Soprano, now its like watching a Circus, Singing in its true Operatic form is becoming extinct, it need not happen, stop the training of so called Pop Singing Opera Stars, tell them fill their chest with air start singing with the Mouth opened drop their Jaw, let the true voice pour out Chest notes not these mamby pamby notes from the Mak that sound like mice squeking, I am sure Caruso could Fart stronger than most Modern Singers he or Martinelli or Melchior did not need Microphones why because they were trained to project the voice and to use their Chest.
Oh my God I am going astray, sorry Caruso is Immortal the rest are below his qualities as a Man Singer and all round Decent Human being.

    • @hostlangr
      @hostlangr 3 месяца назад

Reihe".

It’s as though God anointed this to be the voice, THE voice, of ultimate clarity and transmission of the message, the emotion, the pathos. The pathos, empathy with this emotion is transmitted. Surely this voice is what inspired an invention called voice recording.

Try listening to one from your own generation who carries Caruso's torch today. His name is Jonas Kaufman who is widely considered to be today's greatest tenor. He has easily filled the shoes of Pavarotti, Carreras and Placido Domingo. These gentlemen have courageously carried that operatic torch that they inherited from the great Caruso. Also check out Mario Lanza from the 1950's who brilliantly followed in Caruso's footsteps. Mario's recordings shine partly because the technological expertise for recording was not present in Caruso's lifetime.
