I got hold of this score recently through interlibrary loan (I was desperate to see any page of the thing, just to know for certain whether he had written out every note or used some system of repeats, and honestly he still surprised me). After following it through a few times, I sadly sent it back, never expecting to see it again. But here it is, and with every page turned for us precisely! Thank you and bravo.

Nikt już tak nie gra tej części sonaty. Obecnie gra się ją ciężko i dramatycznie, a tam jest tyle radości i pogody. Kiedyś Red. Jan Weber puszczał w Antologii Chopinowskiej całą sonatę; IV cz. rewelacyjna, temat staccato, gamy bajeczne.

I remember my freshman year of high school listening to this in music class and I just started sobbing, not caring who was in the room. Crazy thing is I was only 1 when the attacks happened and I was just sobbing when I first heard this composition

Like the subject, the work itself is unfathomable, but like a profound comment, worthy of a pause no matter how pointless. The final scene of sea morphing to a (New York?) street, presumably the passing of a natural soul to the urbane, is profound? Well, at least it earned the musicians' families their suppers and gave the commentators something to feel clever about, and it's creator something for lesser (mere) mortals to pause over. Possibly a clue to its breifness.

This is a Divine melody. Elegant, celestial, ethereal, and everlasting. You can play it in an infinite loop till the end of time.

When I was younger, I thought this recording was only the expression of his perplexity about Chopin. After all, currently I don't listen to Chopin that much. But instead I found this recording much more straight forward and interesting like any other his music.

I think he is really in his element in the fourth movement. The first movement he played surprisingly slow and ponderous.
