I've been googling and watching vids about this instrument for about 2 hours now, and this one in lack for better words just blew me away! So well explained and organized, touches on everything I wanted to know and even plays 3 duduks. Sorry to see your video got so few views man, it's really brilliantly explained! I mean, the way you explain different sounds or provide examples is really great!
Those are very kind words, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! If you're interested, check out my other channel "Filip Holm" which is dedicated to content like this.
Accidentally make a reed out of a bendy straw - cut holes in it and I found a few nice notes, kinda sounded like a zurna or duduk. Suddenly very interested in making my own double reed instrument.
Just got my package from Armenia today of two duduks for the price of one (high). Great sound, very challenging and requires committed daily practice. The double reed is (like most woodwinds) most important part. Great care is required when handling the Reed, which can be fragile.
I got my Duduk today. of course trying to get tones out of it. some ce up. Manys not. I feel a beginner does not know how to handle the mouth part. diameters etc. so maybe a lot of air is wasted. i am sure you can give some good hints on how not to lose the motovation on the first day. for sure
Just keep at it man! I think there are tutorials on RUclips and elsewhere where you can get some practical tips. Make sure the reed isn't too closed or too open. If it is closed, you cannot get it to make any sound, and you need to moisturize it until it opens. But if it becomes too moist, it will open too much and require so much air that you'll quickly run out of breath. In that case the reed needs to be closed with the cap and left to dry for a while. It usually gets too moist after playing it for a while, so it is a constant struggle to keep the reed in good playing shape. But it is after all the reed that makes all the difference.
You probably shouldn't get one from Amazon. Either contact someone who makes them directly, or check out more reputable shops online. I think Sala Muzik has some duduks, for example.
Beautifully and movingly played. Thank you for touching my soul.
Armenia expresses its joy and pain through this instrument - and a skilled musician too, of course!

Where can I buy a Duduk? I’ve found a couple on Amazon but I’m not sure about the quality

Hey Filip! Do you know about the shakuhachi?
Yes! I wish I was better with flutes :)
How do I import Duduk to India?
Check Amazon
There are online stores that sell it. I've heard good things about Sala Muzik, for example
